The Pursuit of Enhancement Podcast

By Pursuit of Enhancement Podcast
Welcome to The Pursuit of Enhancement Podcast.

Each week I sit down to talk in-depth with guests that push the boundaries of conventional living, driven by the singular pursuit of being on an unrelenting quest to continually expand the horizons of their body, mind and spirit.

The aim is to learn more about them and from them; their story, the work they are doing, the highs, the lows, the triumphs, the heartaches and everything in between.

The hope is that these conversations might spark something within you that gives you the courage to take a chance and go after your goals.

Special Announcement - End of Season 1
What’s up everybody and welcome back to the pursuit of enhancement, my name is Peter Ledwidge and I’m your host. I’m coming to you this week with a special mid week announcement. It’s something that has been on my mind for a while and it’s with a heavy heart that I make this announcement and it is not a decision that I have made lightly. For the last few months, life has been getting increasingly hectic and at times overwhelming. Keeping the podcast running and being able to give it the energy that I envisioned and that it, my guests and you the audience deserve has become increasingly difficult. There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to bring an episode to air, So after much deliberation I have decided to take a break until I can give it my full focus again. With life being busier I've found it more and more of a challenge to devote to the podcast with timelines getting tighter and tighter and I've really been feeling the pressure Out of respect for myself, the guests and you the audience I'd rather wait until I know I can give it my best rather than producing work which that is at 60 or 80% of what it should be. So for now I’m sad to say that this will be the end of season 1 and I will be returning next year when I will have the time I need to devote to the podcast and produce work at a level that it deserves. I’d like to take this time to thank so many people that have made this possible. Thank you to the guests who have been on so far. I was overwhelmed by the response and the openness to tell their story. I now feel like I have 15 new friends in my life When I decided to start this podcast I didn’t know what to expect and It turned out to be more than I had anticipated Thank you so much to all you guys who have listened, left comments, given feedback. It has been amazing to hear how the episodes have impacted you. That was all I ever wanted, to impact people in any small way that could help them in their lives that is what makes it all worth it. Make sure to subscribe to me on instagram www.instagram.com/thepursuitofenhancement, I will be staying active on there while I’m away. That’s where I will announce when season 2 will be coming back and share details of future guests too. So for now thank you so much. Have a great rest of the year and I'll speak to you in 2019, renewed, and revitalised and who knows where I'll be recording from. Exciting times are ahead. That's it from me for now. I'm Peter Ledwidge, this is the pursuit of enhancement podcast, I'll catch you next year. In the mean time remember to Work hard on yourself Be kind Stay humble And smile often.

#34 Timber Hawkeye Pt 1/1 – Struggle Is Not A Requirement!
Welcome to Episode 34. This week I have the pleasure of being joined from California, by Timber Hawkeye. Timber Hawkeye is the bestselling author of Buddhist Boot Camp and Faithfully Religionless and host of The Buddhist Boot Camp Podcast. He prescribes gratitude as medicine for people to heal themselves from the inside out, inviting the best version of you to resurface. This inevitably leads to the true meaning of success (being happy), and significantly better health (mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual). Timber's intention is to awaken, enlighten, enrich, and inspire a simple and uncomplicated life, by sharing mindfulness-enhancing techniques that anyone can relate to and implement in their daily lives. A few years ago Timber traveled the United States and stayed with different host families. In that time he observed that as a culture we tend to cover our eyes and then cry that it is dark. After a few months the pain in his heart become too much to bear, he wanted to surround himself with people who were at least consciously aware of our habitual tendency to self destruct. So he moved into a zen monastery, completely off the grid with no mobile or phone connection. After a year at 2 different temples he realised he was of no benefit to the world if he kept himself tucked away at a monastery. He recognised in all of us that there is hunger for inner peace, for tranquility, for that inner conflict to stop. He envisioned a very simple guide to being happy, be grateful because gratitude has a way of turning what we have into enough and that is luxury, that is being rich. In the episode we talk about - Life lessons - His journey and experiences and what led him to those moments and events - Unlearning some of the things we’ve picked up along the way - Seeking a simple and uncomplicated life - Taking time to discover why you believe what you do and also questioning some of it rather than just going our entire lives doing what we’ve always done and expecting different results. - Letting go of our suffering, our past and not being the victim and always looking for someone to blame. - His books Buddhist Bootcamp and Faithfully Religionless. The main theme of our conversation is about unlearning, letting go and relearning. Letting go of the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves, not playing the victim and being free. When we stop playing the victim, who are we then? That is the key and centres around much of our conversation. I hope you enjoy it. #32 Laura Tyley Pt 1/2 – Rethink, Reconnect and Take Action!
Welcome to Episode 32 of  The Pursuit of Enhancement Podcast. My name is Peter Ledwidge and I am your host. This week on the podcast I’m joined from the UK by Laura Tyley, founder of Fresh Evoke. To use Laura’s own words ‘I’ve set up Fresh Evoke because I believe the narrow mind frame society teaches us to  have is our own worst enemy. The world doesn’t need more comfortable professionals, it needs revolutionaries who challenge the way things are and believe they can make a difference. Fresh Evoke’s mission is to encourage the revolutionary inside all of us.’ So what is Fresh Evoke? Fresh Evoke is a website that will make it easier for you to find mind opening events that give you a sense of community and fill you with inspiration to make positive changes in your life. These events could be anything from a sustainability talk, a holistic festival, to a healing circle. When we leave our comfort zones and throw ourselves into something different with new people, it can be the biggest wake up call.  In today’s world, we’re rarely told to focus on the stuff that sets our soul on fire. We’re not encouraged to live a life that makes our heart feel like it’s going to explode with excitement. We’re told to live a life that’s going to set us on a path of stress, worry and fear. Fresh Evoke wants to change that. Help You Fresh Evoke wants to help you meet new people that inspire you and encourage you to pursue the stuff that gets the fire in your belly roaring. You should feel full of inspiration and energy everyday. Fresh Evoke hopes to play a small part in helping you achieve that. It was a wide and varied discussion with Laura. The main thing to remember is to keep an open mind. It anything peaks your curiosity go and explore it and look into it. I hope this episode made you think in a different way or perhaps challenged some preconceived ideas which you may have and to explore whether they are the truth or just what you have been led to believe. #31 Chris Moore Pt 2/2 – Massive Changes Start With The Smallest Steps!
This week I bring your part 2 of my conversation with Chris Moore, vegan fitness enthusiast and aspiring bodybuilder If you missed part 1 make sure you go back and check that out after you’ve finished today’s episode. To quickly summarise, Chris grew up as a normal healthy, active kid but by the end of high school had stopped being active and was at his heaviest weight of 235lbs or just over 100kg. At this point he was not only overweight but also a smoker, a partier, depressed, anxious and generally unhappy. He suffered with health issues such as indigestion, lack of quality sleep, feeling tired, bloated and fatigued. At 19 years of age he knew this just wasn’t right. he decided it was time to make a change and start putting things right again. He went to the doctor who prescribed medication but he knew there had to be a better way. So he decided to undertake some research as to what might be beneficial in overcoming his anxiety. This was when he discovered the plant based diet and it’s ability to help alleviate the anxiety he was experiencing. Flash forward 8 years he is now fit, healthy, depression and anxiety free, has quit smoking and drinking and hasn’t consumed animal products for over a year. His transformation has been much more than just physical. This is his journey, who he was and who he is today. He no longer struggles with the self confidence to share his story. This week we talk about - More practicalities of transitioning to a plant based diet and small steps to help you make the change - Becoming aware of unconscious thought patterns that may be holding you back, when you become away of them and recognise them then you can change them. - A pragmatic discussion around veganism, being plant based and large scale reduction of meat and dairy consumption for your health - How fatherhood has impacted his life and is now a huge motivator for how he lives his life. Chris also tells us about how beneficial a plant based diet has been for his son’s development. - His future plans and projects Much of today’s episode contains guidance that can be applied to any area of your life that you want to make improvements in. The first step is taking small steps in that direction which will all add up to great change. Thanks for listening. Leave a comment and let me know what you thought.
