The Companion Pod: The OC
By Sean Melia
We'll discuss a myriad of topics like: our favorite scenes, moments that wouldn't hold up in 2021, reality checks, who won the episode, the music, and more.
So join us each week as we travel to 2003 and bathe in the nostalgia of the Southern California elite.
The Companion Pod: The OCAug 14, 2019
The OC (S1E5): The Outsider
Episode five of The OC brings out the after school special vibes as a new outsider, Donnie from Corona, befriends Ryan at his new place of employment. After attending a few parties out in Long Beach, Donnie decides to crash another one of Holly's beach parties and things go awry. Meanwhile, in the adult world, Sandy helps Jimmy with his financial issues and Kirsten spends the weekend with Julie and some other "Newpsies."
Want to buy a shirt from the show? Check out Spreadshirt for Seth's Now Start a Band shirt that we talk about in the fashion segment.
The OC (S1E4): The Debut
The fourth episode of The OC has yet another big bash. This time it's a Debutant ball that creates all sorts of drama and we're also introduced to a brand new, incredible character - Anna!
Jimmy Cooper is outed as thief, Ryan is officially a Cohen, and Seth has the upper hand on Summer. Tiff does some debutant research and we find out how long it would take to sail to Tahiti. In other words, it's just another day in Orange County.
The OC (S1E3): The Gamble
8 million people tuned in to watch episode 3 of the OC on August 19, 2003. The episode's centerpiece, a Casino Night bash launches a bunch of plots and allows two characters to shine: Summer Roberts and Julie Cooper.
Sean and Tiff discuss their favorite scenes, the music, fashion, plot holes, cringe-worthy lines, and decide who won the episode. Tiff even gives Sean a little lesson on body glitter, the by-gone trend that makes quite an appearance on this episode.
There is a QG articles referenced during this pod about Seth's fashion. Here is the link.
The OC (S1E2): The Model Home
The Cohens can’t quit Ryan Atwood. In episode two, Seth and Marissa keep Ryan hidden away in his an abandoned, unfinished model home owned by Seth’s mom. Ryan and Marissa find they have some things in common even though they come from different sides of the track. Marissa’s boyfriend Luke gets suspicious and confronts Ryan, causing even bigger problems for Ryan and the Cohens.
The OC (S1E1): The Premier
Join us as we watch the hit 2003 show The OC!
In this podcast, we will use various segments to discuss the plot, characters, loopholes, ridiculous drama, and more!
The Premier brings us into the Cohen household. Sandy, a public defender, is representing Ryan Atwood, who was caught stealing a car with his brother. Sandy brings Ryan to his home because he has nowhere else to go. Ryan, an outsider from Chino, is welcomed with open arms by Sandy's son Seth. By his wife is less excited about hosting Ryan. A fashion show brings all the major characters together and gives us a sense of just how wealthy every one. But is anyone really happy? Only time will tell.
The Bachelor Finale: What a Mess
Sean and Tiff discuss the season finale and After the Final Rose three hour marathon from Monday night. We're relieved it's all over and try to figure out what went wrong along with what is wrong with The Bachelor franchise in general. We liked Emmanuel Acho's work as the substitute teacher and lamented that the show is stuck in the past and unable to really move forward.
We wrap up the podcast trying to figure out what we want to talk about going forward. This show has been exhausting and we're on the lookout for something more enjoyable to talk about. We each nominate one TV show as a possible subject for podcasts starting in May.
Matt James: Bachelor Episode 8 - Matt Meets his Girlfriend's Parents for the First Time in His Life
It's Hometown Week: Remote Edition. We have bike riding, zoom class, off-roading, sky-diving, and Canada 101. We pick our favorite hometown activities while wondering if they are all actually hometown dates. Tiff proclaims how much she would need to be paid to skydive which sends on a tangent about our collective fear of heights. Then we move on to discuss the families, Serena P.'s exit, and Matt James' strange performance.
Matt James Bachelor: Episode 7 - Drifting Towards Hometowns
It would be impossible to talk about The Bachelor this week and not touch on the real time drama that's going on around the show. Chris Harrison has "stepped away" and Rachael K., one of the finalists, is under the white hot spotlight for some controversial social media posts and bad choices in college partying - attending a forbidden "Old South" party at an Antebellum home.
Then we get to the episode and talk about the appalling treatment of Heather when she finally meets the remaining women before she's ultimately sent home by Matt. The dates this week were not our favorite, and Serena P. agreed with us. The group date didn't have an activity, and there was no explanation as to why we went straight to the evening portion. Stunt car drifting left us confused about Jessinia's driving skill, but it didn't impress Matt enough to keep her around. Tiff and I come up with two dates to replace all the bad dates we've watched over and over during the recent seasons.
This episode started with 11 women and ended with 4. Women went home in all sorts of ways, and after this week, Matt has narrowed his group of love hunters from 38 to 4.
Matt James Bachelor: Episode 6 - Alumni Reunion
The ghost of hometowns looms large as Matt James narrows down his options while the producers just keep adding women. Heather and Tyler C. show up, one of them was not invited. The show is doing some serious recycling, going so far as repeating a bowling date from Ari's season that Tiff remembered (trigger warning... we talk about Crystal's poor behavior from Ari's bowling date). Before Matt sends Katie home, she gets to see Tyler C. in his underwear and has one more insane argument with another love hunter. We wrap up this pod by power ranking the women by their likelihood of winning from 10 to 1 which leads to a discussion about possible Bachelorette leads and the diversity among these final 10 women.
Matt James Bachelor: Episode 5 - Pretty Woman, Farming, and Leading By Example
What an episode! A villain finally goes home, and that's in the first 15 minutes! Matt still has some toxic ooze to clean up. We talk about the Dylan AMA on Twitter at the top of the episode before getting into Victoria and Anna's departures, the cliche Pretty Woman date that Rachel has with Matt, the farming group date, and Kit's one-on-one. As we make our way through the pod we wonder what we actually know about Matt, if he's actually here to get engaged, the conflict resolution that seems to be more and more prevalent on the show, and why Matt feels the need to play RA/Dorm parent/Dean of Students to a group of grown women.
Matt James Episode 4: Curveballs, Gossip, and Mean Girls
This week's Bachelor episode didn't provide all that much intrigue. Five new women were introduced which got us thinking about what other Bachelor Curveballs have happened in past seasons, so we take a walk down memory lane and revisit other times when things didn't go as planned. We couldn't not talk about the newest rumor in the house and how Anna decided to handle the entire situation. She handled it very poorly. We also couldn't not talk about Victoria and the fact that she's 27 years old; in other words, she old enough to know better. We wrap up trying to figure out which contestants could possibly be Bachelorette leads. The pickings are slim.
Matt James Episode 3: Love Hunters, Dirty Books, and The Rules of The Game
Episode 3 was a bit of a bore, so we decided to dig into some of the rules and tips we'd give to contestants (love hunters) and the show's lead if we ever had an opportunity to coach them before going on the show. Sarah could have used a lot of these before heading to Nemacolin Resort to fight for Matt's heart. Oh, and Chris is writing Dirty Books now.
Sponsor: It's Just Sop
Matt James Episode 2: Oil, Vinegar, and Tonic Ooze.
Tension and toxicity abound in the second episode of The Bachelor... if you ask Victoria. If you ask anyone else, things are pretty normal and Victoria just needs to leave. We start this podcast with a 15 minute fashion breakdown by Tiff. Then we get into production getting in all the hits: hot tubs, flying machines, fireworks, wedding shoots. We wrap up talking about Matt's performance on the first two episodes and then talking about some of the women that found the camera for one reason or another this week.
Matt James Episode 1: A vibrator, a Queen, and a Goat walk into a Chateau
After a long two week lay-off from the Bachelor franchise, we're all swooning over Matt James. In this episode we talk about our first impression of Matt and the themes that appeared in his highlight package and discussion with his mom and Chris Harrison. Then we run through the entrances that stood out to us, the Queen Victoria conundrum, and our front-runners.
Tayshia's Truth Detector!!!!
It's almost time for hometown dates, so the stakes have been raised... big time. Tiff and Sean break down the many faces of Tayshia in this particular episode: she's stone-faced, awkward, supportive, mad, and anxious. Bennett's story arch isn't quite over yet, while Riley and Ben share some personal information with Tayshia.
The Men Bare Their Souls... and Some Other Things...
Tayshia is crushing it as the Bachelorette. JoJo is the substitute teacher as Chris Harrison leaves La Quinta to help his son move into college. The dates intensify, so this week we go discuss each man individually, picking apart their performance on the episode while Tiff tries to remember which one is Spencer.
Bachelorette: "Smokeshow" is a Noun and Other Important Lessons
Tiff and Sean talk about Tayshia's fantastic start as the Bachelorette. She plays by the rules, but holds the line when guys try to push the limits. Chasen and Ed get sucked into the drama, which ends in a fight club type set-up that Ed bails out on. Bennett doesn't represent Harvard well at the start of the episode and then, like every freaking Harvard grad, things turn around for Bennett. We wrap up talking about the wrestling group date as and the appearance (and disappearance) of Noah's mustache. They finish up running through the remaining guys and offering brief thoughts on each of them.
A Breath of Fresh Air: Tayshia is the Bachelorette!
Ivan said it best, "I like Tayshia more than Clare already." Indeed, Ivan, Indeed.
The pre-season is over, we're finally onto real Bachelorette episodes. Clare is gone and Tayshia is here to find love. We rave about Tayshia's energy and ability to draw out the personality of the men because she actually cares about the process. We do have a Clare and Dale interlude, which was annoying. We didn't have a rose ceremony, again, which was also annoying. But Massachusetts is repping hard with Brendan, Montel, and Peter. And we, of course, have a new guy with a target on his back, and a rose on his lapel.
Clare and Dale Sitting in a Tree...
The Bachelorette has been broken, and Chris Harrison is here to fix it. On this episode of The Random Division, Tiff and Sean talk about the heavy lifting Chris Harrison has had to go at the La Quinta. Has he played much golf, or is he too busy playing father, brother, friend, and producer? We also discuss Clare's assertion that Claire and Dale didn't connect on social media before meeting on the show and how the Non-Dale's react to the fast pace of the show. Finally, we have Tayshia next week and predictably, all the guys show up for the next babe ABC is ready to roll out, and we are ready for Tayshia!
Bachelorette Episode 2: Dr. Clare Will See You Now
In the second episode of Clare's undoubtedly short season, we see the gaps that exist in the Bachelorette world when there are no helicopters, cliffs, celebrity cameos, concerts, or crowds. The dates lacked energy, and need the guys to strip, unpack deep childhood issues, and throw on a blindfold for a quick awkward hug. Tiff and Sean dig through the episode and really just hope we're not talking for much longer about Clare and can get on to Tayshia.
Bachelorette: Finding Clare-ity
The Bachelorette is BACK and so are we. This episode is a meandering conversation about Harvard grads, potlucks, Dr. Chris Harrison, dating in a bubble, Bachelor exceptionalism, DM sliding during the "off season", guys with legit jobs, bad drama, and love at "first sight."

You Should Be Watching Labor of Love
After a few months away from the mic, we decided we need to share our new favorite dating show with you all. Labor Of Love on Fox has a bunch of stuff we really like and enjoy, some of it stands in direct contrast to The Bachelor franchise and it's a breath of fresh air. We share our favorite things about the show (5:18). Then, to whet your appetite, we talk about the 15 men on the show (29:50).
To catch up on the first three episodes on Hulu. It airs on Friday nights on Fox.
Season 3 Episode 11: Beware the Barb(ed) Wire
We needed some time to process the finale of the Bachelor. It was a wild finish to an incredibly turbulent season. Did Peter land the plane and find his co-pilot for life? Maybe, but his mom isn’t too happy about it.
We rank the performance of each person involved with the finale.
(6:03) Hannah Ann: From champagne stealer to scorned lover: A coming of age tale.
(20:50) Madison: Just exactly how high is her horse?
(35:15) Peter: “Worst Bachelor Ever”
(47:25) Chris Harrison: The Love Broker
(54:08) Peter Sr.: Star of the Show.
(59:09) Jack Weber: Line Dancing Informant
(01:03:05) Tiff and I take a break to discuss the compromises we’ve made since we met.
(01:11:18) Barb: The Villain?

Season 3 Episode 10: It Is What It Is
The final two women have received their roses in Australia and the Women Tell All is in the books. We’re one step closer to the end of Peter’s reign at Bachelor.
We begin the pod with a quick recap of the 20 minute rose ceremony where Madison keeps Peter waiting and accepts a rose to Peter’s surprise (“Are you sure?”).
(8:55) Then we follow Tiff into the Reddit rabbit hole and checkout drink from a cup of “Unverified Tea.” Was Victoria a bully in high school? Some people have posted some unpleasant things that Victoria said and did. This leads to Sean asking what year would they redact from their lives because they were the worst version of themselves. Is Victoria F. getting kicked out of Virginia Beach bars for yelling at employees (like, in January). Are Peter and Vicky F. together RIGHT NOW? They might be, if you believe the unverified tea… Did Peter get Kelley pregnant during their LA hotel rendezvous? Probably not. Sean drops his own bit of unverified tea because they change gears and talk about The Women Tell All.
(25:00) We lament the disappointing nature of the show overall. The women take no ownership nor do they set the record straight. Instead, Tiff thought it was a “Mean Girl” Forum. Kelsey and Sydney show that they squashed their mini-beef when Kelsey called Sydney a nasty name behind her back. There was no discussion about the drama or cutting at the heart of the issues in the house. Why wasn’t the Alayah and Victoria P. issue discussed considering both women left the house because of the issue. Tiff goes on a rant about “hate campaigns” among the women. The women all feel too aware of their impact and their role on the show at this point. The ones that took up airtime on the actual show did the same thing on the Women Tell All, driving silly fights and yelling over the others.
(40:40) Kelsey and Victoria have their Bachelorette try-outs, which don’t go all that well considering the announcement that Clare is the new Bachelorette. Champagnegate is slammed over our heads, when it didn’t need to be. Kelsey took one for the (production) team and owned the champagne incident, even though it was completely a producer created issue. Ashley I. enters the scene and tells Kelsey to just be as emotional as she wants to be, which sends Sean into a tailspin. Vicky F’s time on the hot seat wasn’t too challenging. She ducked more questions about sleeping with married men and didn’t really have to answer for any of her crappy behavior and running from challenges.
(58:25) ABC decided to have a mini-school assembly to talk about online bullying, which felt ironic to us because the first hour of the show had women yelling at each other and being mean. Rachel Lindsay read hateful DMs and comments from people online and allowed the women to talk about their experiences. It felt like they were dancing around the term “racism” and never named the behavior directly. People online suck and this is an issue that sadly feels nearly unfixable at this point.
(01:09:01) Sean tries to explain the season by sharing some traits of Gen Z, which is a large number of the contestants on this season. Then they wrap up with Clare as the new Bachelorette and dive into some Reality Steve tweets.

Season 3 Episode 9: Peter and his Sheilas in Gold Coast, Australia
We begin, not surprisingly, in an airplane hanger in California. Madison pulls Peter aside to half-heartedly ask him not to sleep with any of the women during their upcoming fantasy suite dates. Madison still doesn’t tell Peter she’s a virgin, and crosses her fingers that Peter really understands. Was this a fair? Is this comparable to what Luke P. did last season to Hannah. Should Peter have understood the clues around “faith” and “purity”? Peter is somewhat annoyed that Madison is trying to control his other two relationships with women that have declared their feelings for him more clearly than Madison. We all know how important that is.
(15:00) In Gold Coast, the women are staying in the same suite. Which is at best unkind and at worst downright evil. They all have to experience the walk-of-shame and it didn’t really offer anything interesting or extra to the show. It does lead to some very superficial greetings which highlight the awkwardness between the women. Victoria gets real quiet when the topic of hometowns comes up, for good reason.
(25:10) Peter, the master of the doofus entrance, shines in this episode with a bad Australian accent. He takes Hannah Ann for the first date. They jet-ski and don’t really push their relationship forward in any real meaningful way. Except for the fantasy suite part and Hannah Ann saying she’s basically okay with Peter sleeping with the other women.
(28:40) The Bachelor is looking for seniors looking for love. Sean and Tiff love the idea of non-Instagrammers looking for love. Sean pitches an additional “This is 30” season, too: 30-somethings only.
(32:55) Victoria gets the aviation date. Another helicopter ride, but first, Peter wipes the slate clean and doesn’t want to look back at any past issues. Victoria fully plans on creating more issues in the future… Victoria opens up about her past, and blames an ex-boyfriend for her inability to process emotions or have any sort of open conversation with Peter about her feelings. This is where Tiff really flexes her Vicky voice imitation muscles.
(43:09) And finally, Madison gets her fantasy suite date. This date terrified us due to the incredible heights, and there is no way that we’d participate in this one. Madison and Peter seemed to really enjoy being so close to death, good for them. The date ramps up when Madison tells Peter she’s saving herself for marriage, and she also doubles down on her ultimatum. Peter has to admit, without the details, that he has been intimate with someone. Madison and Peter are on the ropes and we finish the episode without a rose ceremony and without any solution to Peter’s apology to Madison.

Hometown Throw Down and Other Things
We’re at the business end of the season. Peter goes to four hometowns and only meets three families. Before we jump into each visit, Tiff and Sean hit up some Bachelor gossip and adjacent news, including some Bachelor franchise break-ups, a production conspiracy theory, and some other social media buzz.
(14:30) Then they jump into the hometowns and discuss them in the order they were filmed (not how they were shown on the show). They begin with Madison’s date in Auburn. Peter misses a half-court shot by a mile, Bruce Pearl shows up, Sir Charles Barkley leaves a jumbotron message, and Madison shows off her ball-handling skills. At the dinner, the family shares kind thoughts about Madison in a family tradition that we rather liked. Peter gets challenged by Madison’s father about his true feelings for Madison. Sean and Tiff get the heebie-jeebies when Madison’s dad mentions her “purity.”
(34:00) Victoria was next, and it wasn’t great. The day date goes swimmingly. A jaunt on the beach and an old-time photo shoot on the boardwalk look like a lot of fun and it feels like Victoria might be turning a corner. A concert by someone that Victoria didn’t date caps off the day, with a very peculiar, yet hilarious, song choice by Hunter Hayes. But an ex-girlfriend of Peter’s shows up and warns him about Victoria. Everything spirals out of control from there.
(01:04:00) Hannah Ann is next, Knoxville is a great time for Peter. They throw some axes and split some wood to prepare Peter to meet Hannah Ann’s lumberjack father. Peter gets what he needs out of this date after the train wreck with Victoria: complete validation from a women.
(01:14:20) Iowa is the final stop for Peter, and Kelsey brings him to a vineyard to crush grapes and blend wines. Peter begs for validation from her while they sip wine. Kelsey’s family is lovely. Kelsey is all in and willing to get her heart broken and pick up the pieces if she has to. She will…
(01:22:06) They wrap up with a theme song for each of the girls sent in from IG followers.
Season 3 Episode 7: Peter Doesn't Need a Dinner
Peter has picked his top four and will be heading to Iowa, Virgina, and Tennessee, and Alabama for hometowns. How did we get here? Listen to this episode!
Tiff and Sean start the show with some Bachelor gossip about a new show for the Bachelor franchise and what really happens at the end of the season. After a dip in the social media pool. Then they jump into their recap of the show (18:10) and get into Madison's fishing date and how Peter responded to the first real religious discussion of the season. Then Natasha makes her bid for Bachelorette during her finale on the show. She's honest, she's a bad ass, and she's an adult with some potentially crazy older brothers. What else would you want? They round out the episode with Kelsey's ATV mountain climbing date that almost kills Peter and then try to figure out what the heck happened during the 3-on-1. Kelley goes scorched earth and then gets scorched, while once again, the girls that cry get roses. Kelley speaks the ultimate truth: "Every relationship doesn't have to be hard." Amen, Kelley.
Season 3 Episode 6: Enough is Enough
Peter is down to six women, and it feels like the show is really just getting down to business. Peter did some house cleaning this week, eliminating women and seeking out the women that really want to be there. It leads to some tough conversations and led us to wonder if any of these women actually want to be with Peter aside from Madison. Tammy and Mykenna provide the fans with the latest duel that ends with a mini 2-on-1 date where Mykenna brought her soapbox and some well-rehearsed diatribes.
Season 3 Episode 5: Peter Loses a Fight with a Golf Cart and other tales of woe
It seems as if every week brings the drama and Peter continues to pour gasoline on the flames. This week, it looked like he might have righted the ship by sending Alayah home right away. However, when Tammy breaks the Golden Rule (don't speak about other women in the house) the flames rise again. Tiff thinks all the women are liars in their own special way. Kelsey is pissed she can't get a 1-on-1 every single week. After a 3 hour episode, Shiann leaves the literally wounded Peter with one last message: Don't trust some of the women in the house.
Season 3 Episode 4: Why-oh, Why-oh, Did Peter Come to Ohio?
Tiff gives her bravest pod yet as she battles an illness, but nothing gets between her and talking about The Bachelor. Victoria F. goes on a 2-on-1 date with Chase Rice and Peter at Cedar Point. Victoria F. has a hard time breaking the news to Peter about her relationship with Chase during their dinner. (00:00-19:20). During the group date, the women played in the most important football game in Cleveland in the last 20 years. Shiann, Deandra, and Kelley were the stars on the field. The women were not messing around, except for Victoria P. who begged out of the contact because of a back injury, which got her some time with Peter (19:21). The bloated group date swells to 14 women when Alayah crashes the party to state her case to return to the show. Confusion reigns as Peter tries to figure out what matters and what doesn’t and who is telling The Truth not just “Her Truth” (23:21). Then they ask the big question, “How much of this mess can be blamed on Peter?” They look at the age of the remaining women and how that might be effecting the dynamic between everyone on the show (33:32).

Line Dancing at High Noon
What a strange ride this has become. Another feud pops up in the house when Sydney challengers Alayah's authenticity. Victoria P. line dances her way into Peter's heart, and then she lands a haymaker on Alayah when she's on the proverbial ropes. Meanwhile while Peter might be in love with seven women and there seems to be a handful of women we've barely even met. Demi shows up and brings absolutely nothing to the table except for two women named "Champagne" and "Killer." Sean wishes some of these dates involved any of Peter's friends considering we're in his hometown. Chris Harrison takes away a rose and Sean and Tiff think there might still be a home for that rose.

Season 3 Episode 2: The Champagne Money Shot
Champagne for my real friends and Real Pain for my Sham Friends! Grab a bottle of your favorite bubbly, sit back, and enjoy. This episode had it all: stolen booze, cancelled dates, creepy gifts, sad tears, and free clothes. Peter is left picking up the pieces of various spats between the women in the house, along with playing middle school principle in a bullying incident. Nothing is going right for Kelsey, Victoria F. seeks constant validation, and Hannah Ann keeps winning. The specter of Hannah Brown still looms and this season is off to a turbulent start, and it doesn't seem like the seatbelt sign is getting turned off for quite a while.

Season 3 Episode 1: Pete the Pilot takes flight
We kicked off Peter's Bachelor season with a three hour episode that included an early morning rose ceremony, two group dates, a 1-on-1, a renewal of wedding vows, some tears, some windmills, some smooching, some cheating, and some planes. Sean thinks Peter's family isn't as great as everyone believes. Tiff thinks she's nailed down the final three.

Season 2 Episode 7: Events and People of the Decade
To wrap up Season 2 of The Random Division, we talk about the events and people that shaped the decade. We jog our memories about the earliest parts of the decade: LeBron’s decision, Tiger’s scandal, Kanye vs. Matt Lauer, Chilean miners, and more. Then they discuss the most influential people of the decade (20:27). They wrap up by talking about some of their own personal highlights of the decade and talking about some possible New Year Resolutions.
Season 2 Episode 1: The Best TV of the Decade
In episode 1 of season 2, Tiff and Sean kick off their digital time capsule discussing TV over the last decade. How have TV viewing habits changed? Streaming. Cable cutting. Network shows. Binging. Awards. Tiff remembers the days when she played movies on her DVD player for background noise (00:00-27:45).
They spend the second half of the podcast ranking their five favorite shows since 2010. Incredibly, there is no overlap, so they end up talking about ten great shows. Some they watched together, while others they watched on their own.

Season 2 Episode 6: Musicals of the Decade
Tiff gives Sean the week off and charges on with her best friend Lindsay to talk about one of their favorites things: musicals! “Hamilton” wasn’t the only musical that came out this decade. Tiff and Linds talk about the shows they saw together (and their intermission snacks), the Tony Award winners (10:50), and general trends in the musical theater. Then they rank their three favorite shows they saw together (31:30) before jumping into ranking their favorite shows of the decade, along with some honorable mentions (36:17). They wrap up with their favorite cast albums (1:12:30) where Tiff has to work through her SpongeBob SquarePants bias in real-time.

Season 2 Episode 5: Music of the Decade
Sean and Tiff discuss the music of the 2010s. Has the quality of albums deteriorated over the last decade? Remember when you’d get CDs handed to you on a New York street? Well, it’s still a thing, and those artists need a new marketing strategy. How do people even listen to CDs anymore? Now we have so many ways to listen to and discover new music, some of it is passive and some active. Who were some of the best artists of the decade? Who were some disappointments? Have other listening options like audiobooks and podcasts changed our listening habits? If you want to get straight to their top five albums of the decade it starts at the 24:45 mark.
Season 2 Episode 4: Movies of the Decade
Sean and Tiff like movies (and movie candy). They warm-up their podcast voices with a run through of the Oscar and Golden Globe winners along with the highest grossing movie of every year this decade (3:40). The movie-going experience has come a long way from when we were kids. We talk about the pros and cons of going out to the movies now-a-days (and Tiff tries out a "Get off My Lawn" rant). Tiff surprises Sean with her movie candy evolution (13:27). Who were the actors and actresses of the decade (20:10)? Finally, they lay out their strategy for picking their favorite movies before jumping into their 5 favorite movies of the decade (25:40). Follow us on Instagram: TheRandomDivision. Season 2 Episode 3: Fashion of the Decade
Fashion has changed a lot in the last ten years, but the more things change, the more they stay the same. The prevalence and proliferation of "athleisure" can be tied to LuluLemon coming onto the scene. Folks are dressing to look like they just worked out. Leggings are popular, and a challenge in the workplace (3:30). The way we shop and the way brands advertise has also changed this decade. Instagram stories, apps, personal online shoppers all drove how we shop and what we wear. Kylie Jenner just made $600 million after selling a company built on her IG followers (32:00). Like any decade, we've got some fashion blunders and it would be irresponsible to just ignore them (45:35). It would also be irresponsible to not talk about what people wore on their feet. Sneaker-culture exploded this decade. Sneaker collaborations, limited release, resale market, and the iconic yeezys and Air Jordans are all part of the conversation (51:15). It wouldn't be a long podcast without a rambling wrap-up that involves hair styles, Leo's man-bun (and his dating history), the pieces that we own and like the most (1:15:00). We squeezed 10 years of fashion into 90 minutes.

Season 2 Episode 2: Technology of the 2010s
Technology has changed a lot this decade. Phones are more powerful, there's an app for everything, home speakers are listening, data is being mined, and the robots are coming. In this episode, we wax poetic about our youths and the tech that mattered to us. Then we head down a meandering path talking about the developments in various tech, how it's changed our lives, and what drives us crazy about it. Join us for this time capsule as we wrap our heads around the end of the decade.

We're back for Season 2 of our podcast. We talked at you about the Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise. We're taking a break from all that and looking back at the last decade. A new episode will drop every Friday where Tiff and I talk about the last ten years.
Bachelor in Paradise: The Dinner Party
Sean and Tiff wrap up the Bachelor in Paradise season by planning a dinner party. They create their guest list from the 36 cast members that graced the beach with their presence. They discuss what a "Clue" themed dinner party might look like. Who would take the lead? Whose death would we investigate? How would Wells or Chris Harrison be used? Sean shares his favorite party game (make sure to write it down) and they discuss what type of food they might serve.
Bachelor in Paradise: The Adults go home and Blake seeks redemption
While watching episodes 9 and 10, Tiff and Sean start to see shades of not just high school, but middle school behavior. Bickering on the beach, crying, tips on getting a first kiss, and voice cracks all make appearances this week. Sean and Tiff discuss the new phenomenon of social media apologies regarding Paradise Behavior, Blake's lightning strike moment when we realizes his one true love has been on the beach the whole time, and Tayshia's role in many of the plots these past couple weeks. At the end, Tiffany drops an incredible off the cuff "Blake" System, in the spirit of Alway Sunny in Philadelphia's "Dennis" System episode.
Bachelor in Paradise: The Goose gets married.
Sean and Tiff talk about episodes 7 and 8 of Bachelor in Paradise. Tiff defends John Paul Jones while Tahzjuan can't handle the heat. Dean chooses his van over the Birthday Girl, Caelynn. The wedding between Goose and Krystal launches us into the final act of Bachelor in Paradise as Clay and Nicole, Caelynn and Connor, JPJ and Derek all get shoved into drama. Blake is a sad sack and Tiff reminds us all that these people have only been on the beach for 11 days.

Bachelor in Paradise: Going through the couples
Sean and Tiff talk about the couples on the beach. But first they talk about the five guys going home and the fight between Jordan and Christian. Next, they question how ABC has handled the Demi-Derek situation. Then move through the other couples in paradise and wonder which ones will hold up to the end. They wrap up with a Kristina-Caitlin debate after Caitlin pulls Kristina aside for a little chit-chat.
Bachelor in Paradise: Love Geometry and other life lessons
Sean and Tiff talk about the third and fourth episodes of Bachelor in Paradise:
Monday's Episode (00:00-39:20): The first rose ceremony, Jordan's detective work and righteousness, Big Mike's arrival, Caelynn's Chameleon Act, Katie's meltdown, and the Blake Love Triangle.
Tuesday's Episode (39:20-1:19:00): More of the Blake Love Triangle, Cam is a sad sack, Dean's mustache arrives, Clay tries not to be protective, JPJ's dramatic debut, The Nicole Love Pinata.
Bachelor in Paradise: The Blake Show
Sean and Tiff dive into the first two episodes of Bachelor in Paradise. They introduce the listeners to each of the contestants in alphabetical order. Some get a lot of time (Blake, Caelynn, Kristina, Hannah G...) others get a sliver of time (Hot Sauce Jane, Katie, and Kevin).
The Bachelorette: Parents, Young Love, and Theme Songs
Sean and Tiff talk about the role of parents on Hannah's season of the Bachelorette.: Jed's parents coldness makes more sense after knowing he was actually dating someone else. Hannah's parents' reaction to Jed's profession in comparison to how they treat Tyler and his cliches. Then they discuss how the show highlighted the challenges of dating as a 24 year-old. They wrap up with a quick discussion about the next Bachelor and share their picks for themes songs for Hannah, Tyler, Jed, and Peter. It's worth sticking around to the end! Sean and Tiff picked the same song for Jed!
The Bachelorette: Men Tell All
Sean and Tiff discuss the Men Tell All episode which kicked off with Luke P. finally being eradicated. They talk about Luke P.'s time on the hot seat, his hypocrisy, and facing the other guys and Hannah, The John Paul Jones show made complete with chicken nuggets and hair cuts. Mike J.'s push to be the next Bachelor. And much more! Join us!
Windmills beat Fences
Sean and Tiff discuss the fantasy suite episode of The Bachelorette.
Peter and Tyler C. (00:00-23:09): These men have opposite experiences. The Windmill makes its premier. Peter opens up and Tyler is the most respectful man in Hannah's dating history,
Jed (23:09-39:37): Still fuming from Luke's inclusion in the show, Jed confronts Hannah during their "culture date." They work through it and Jed continues moving up the ranks.
Luke P. (39:37-END): In an incredible flame out, Luke decides to "talk about sex" and puts his foot in his mouth multiple times. His true colors shine through. Somewhere Luke S. is laughing because he knew Karma was coming for Luke P.
