Ep 588 - Forums: Day One Dingo (Lauchlan)
This week, Jim Reid leads the RecPoker RECing Crew through a forum post by Lauchlan Swann (Dingo) about moving from the comfort and security of a ‘real job’ to playing poker full time in his native Australia! Lauchlan shared three hands from the main event of the Australian Poker Open where he made a deep run earlier this year, and we’ll be looking at one hand over each of the next three weeks as he goes deeper and deeper into the field and even ends up at the final table! While battling it out against each other in the nightly home game, the panel discusses what it takes to ‘go pro’, calling versus 3-betting from the blinds, a polarized checking range, bet sizing, player types, board textures, and more!
Come sign up for a free account at https://rec.poker/ today to see all the great comments and replies – and you can post a question of your own in the forum for the panel to review!

Ep 555 - Chats: Chris “Fox” Wallace Joins the RECing Crew!
This week Jim Reid and the RecPoker RECing Crew interview our newest RECing Crew member Chris “Fox” Wallace! Chris is a professional poker player, author, and poker coach. While primarily a cash game player, he also has over a million dollars in tournament earnings including winning the $10,000 buy-in HORSE World Championship at the World Series Of Poker for more than half a million dollars and has made day five and six in the WSOP Main Event. Fox has created video content for more than a dozen poker training sites, coached some of the best players in the world, and written three books on the game.
We talk about shifting from recreational to pro mindset, the effects of being ‘feared’ at the table, common ‘tells’ that players are less-experienced (and how to exploit them) and Fox shares some GREAT tips about how to extrapolate meaningful information from incomplete data sets - and how you can use that information to make good assumptions about different player types at your table and to play optimally against them.
We play Stake/Study/Stack with Shaun Deeb, Brian Devonshire and Michael Mizrachi, we Close The Action with our speed round, and of course we give away a free prize at the end for folks in the YouTube chat. Ep 548 - Forums: There’s Always an Ace! (Adam)
Happy New Year! This week, Jim Reid leads the RecPoker RECing Crew through a forum post by Adam “ARW” Wolfe about a cash game hand he played in Cleveland as part of a recent Rungood event at the Jack casino. While battling it out against each other in the nightly home game, the panel discusses preflop sizing, calling ranges in low-stakes live play, player types, postflop sizing, playing your range versus playing your hand, inducing bluffs, and more! Plus, we talk about folding strong hands to big bets by ABC players - because it’s OK to fold the best hand sometimes if your villains aren’t bluffing enough. Was this one of those spots? Let us know on twitter at https://twitter.com/RecPoker if you think this should have been a call or a fold - we’d love to hear from you! And come sign up for a free account at https://rec.poker/ today to see all the great comments and replies – and you can post a question of your own in the forum for the panel to review! Ep 541 - Rebbecca Scales on “Raising Up” Women in Poker!
This week Sasha Sutton and the RecPoker RECing Crew interviewed Rebbecca Scales! Rebbecca and the gang discussed a slew of topics, including the lack of marketing to women in the World Series of Poker and the resistance to change in the industry. Rebbecca also talked about the three main barriers that women face in poker: harassment, social norms, and daily responsibilities. Sasha and Rebecca shared personal anecdotes about their experiences with both positive and negative aspects of the poker world.
Rebecca discussed her journey before joining Poker Power, including her failed attempt at creating a clothing line for women in poker. She then shared her experience of creating a marketing studio called Poker Queen and talked about her work with Women's Poker Association and the Raise It Up campaign. Sasha and Rebecca discussed the golden age of women in poker and the dramatic change that has occurred over the last five years.
The group talked about the need for men to speak up against verbal harassment towards women and the importance of zero tolerance for any kind of harassment in poker tournaments. They also discussed how male players sometimes mistreat female dealers if they make errors in their dealing and the need for protection of the room for all players.
Rebecca announced the launch of Women Poker News, a media company that aims to provide a different perspective on poker content for women. She explained that women consume media differently than men and that the company will cover mainstream events and socialites in the poker world that are often overlooked by other media companies. The launch will take place during the Women in Poker Festival at Resorts World. Plus of course we give away a free prize at the end for folks in the YouTube chat.
