Who's Right & Who's Wrong?

Who's Right & Who's Wrong?

If a person doesn’t believe as you do, does this make them wrong and you right? I say no. This is a multifaceted world we live in. The intent of your heart matters more to me, than what you believe. I know how to listen, hear, learn, and dump what doesn’t serve me. Who am I to deem you wrong in your belief? And the catch 22 is, this can be flipped around like everything else is often done. The world is filled with duality. Almost everything has an opposite, yet almost every thing is connected. We see what we see, but do we always understand what we are looking at? Do we even question it. No we simply accept what we are told… and because it’s been told multiple times, despite the variations in the tale it’s self, we believe it. But who decides ultimately who's right and who's wrong?

"Who Broke the Baby" The Affects of Childhood Trauma

"Who Broke the Baby" The Affects of Childhood Trauma

There is no one more innocent than a newborn baby. This is the only time in their life, where they are blameless, pure, most protected and emotional and mentally stable. Unless, trauma is experience by the mother during the fetal incubation period. If this happens, that trauma can potentially be felt by the unborn child, therefore resulting in trauma being induced before birth. Other thank these mentioned factors, this new born has it made... that is until life begins at birth, and the chance for potentially life changing trauma arises. Trauma is based on life's circumstances, the parents and other people they may encounter in their life. Not to mention, environment, and life's events outside the womb.

Here's what I have found, we all have suffered, dealt with or dealing with some form of trauma or trauma response (Triggers). Many times trauma can go unnoticed, and even unidentified and even ignored. Only to have that same trauma to show up once it's triggered. Trauma can have a negative effects on the body, your mental health, emotional health and your social wellbeing. Trauma can potentially affect your sleep patterns, the memory, self-esteem, and may even cause learning disabilities.

If your or someone you know or think, they may be dealing with or suffering from any type of mental/emotional issues, please seek professional help.

The Healing Body Through Music, Self Discovery and Creativity

The Healing Body Through Music, Self Discovery and Creativity

In this episode Tee and I discuss how our creative attributes played a part in our healing process. For both Tee and I, we are lovers of music, art, and poetry, hence why we are friends. Ironically, music was a keep component in our healing journey. I know you've heard the saying, "Music soothes the savage beast" right? Well, this is partly because of the frequency the music is in. Music has the ability to not only sooth, but aid in healing as well. Music tuned to 432 Hz is softer and brighter and is said to be easiest on the ears and great for meditation. (repetionsfitness.com)

Creativity aids in self discovery or self rediscovery, because it cause you to channel your energies into creating something new or different or it may spark an interest in something you never thought about before. This was another great show that I know you will enjoy.

Releasing The Pain Body

Releasing The Pain Body

Many of us naturally internalize emotional pain or trauma we feel others may not understand or misunderstand all together. We tend to fail at expressing our true feelings, we fail at setting boundaries, and we simply continue on with life as though we’re okay. But, it’s okay to not be okay, your feelings are valid, and your experiences that hurt you don’t have to be with you forever nor do they get to define who you are or how you should feel. In continuation of the previous episode, Surviving the Pain Body, we now must began to address the pain and start to release it.

Surviving The Pain Body

Surviving The Pain Body

Self love, self care looks different for each of us, but until we can face our shadow our past or current trauma, self love can’t exist, self care can’t exist… we must first survive the pain body. Most of us have or have had to deal with a pain body, and in this episode Tee and I dive into what it is, and how it can affect you and how we survived it. This is 1 of 5 episodes, a mini series so to speak, with a plethora of information. We hope you like subscribe and share this and all episodes, but more so, we hope you are helped and healed as you listen. Remember you can’t be anything for anybody until you’ve been something to yourself.

Self Acceptance

Self Acceptance

We live in a society where it is more important to fit in than it is to accept who you are. Self discovery is the beautiful journey of you, it’s the dips and curves of who your body, creativity of your mind, it’s the dark and light sides of you.

Stop Being A Human Trash Can

Stop Being A Human Trash Can

In this episode, I talk about being a human trash can, meaning, stop allowing people to throw up all of their problems on you, stop allow people to transfer their negative energy to you. We all need someone to talk to, but there comes a time, when boundaries have to be put in place. Have you ever had that one friend, who is always going through, or every time you talk to them, they're being negative or always possessing a bad VIBE.

These type of people tend to pull us down, or cause our internal vibration or our VIBE, to lower. I believe that we are responsible for our own happiness, our own joy. These components are not found in people places or things, but within ourselves. Take a listen and leave a comment of your take on this particular topic.

Tales of a Former Self Doubter "Hey Stop Doubting Yourself"

Tales of a Former Self Doubter "Hey Stop Doubting Yourself"

We all should be dreamers, aspiring to be more than what we are, striving to achieve the ultimate goal in our lives. We to some degree, we are creators, innovators, movers and shakers... but sometimes we are stagnant and stale in our abilities to be great, because, we find ourselves doubting our abilities. Maybe someone criticized your idea, or spoke negatively about a project you were over, or due to life circumstance, you may have lost your zeal or passion for whatever it is that was to be a part of your greatness....

In this episode, we discuss self doubt, and how it has the potential to halt our progress in being great artist, successful entrepreneurs and small business owners, CEO's an all around success. We also discuss ways to stop doubting ourselves and simply be great, because we are!

To Thine Own Self...

To Thine Own Self...

As Polonius, chief minister said to his son Laertes, in one of the most memorable plays written by the great Shakespear, "To Thine Own Self Be True". The first meaning is that someone can better judge himself if he has done what he should or could have done. The second meaning is that one must be honest in his ways and relations. The third meaning is that one must always do the right thing.

In this episode it all about getting to know yourself! being honest about yourself, and changing yourself!! We are a society that loves to fix everybody else, comment on everybody else, talk about everybody else, but I ask you wonderful people!! "What about you" ? What's broken within you, what's off about you? What could you stand to change about you?

I go into a brief detail about getting to know yourself, being true to your self, and fixing yourself, because only you can do the real work. You can see a therapist, a psychologist, a spiritual leader, a Guru or who ever! But less you take a deep inward look and a long visit with you, it's all meaningless. i hope that you can take away from this episode a few things to help you or someone else, because that's what really matters to me. make sure to follow me on Instagram at prettygirlmedia8372 and on Twitter Deon8372 okay! Mental Health Trailer

This is an introduction to the up and coming episodes on mental health series. After experiencing my own battle with severe clinical anxiety and depression I decided to use my platform to advocate for those who suffer daily in silence with their mental health, emotional health and their spiritual health. The next few episodes are intended to educate and shed some much needed light on this often unrecognizable disorder in the hopes of helping others recover and heal as well as cope as the battle continues. I’ll discuss the different types of depression and the similarities, the different types of treatments, coping skills and understanding that although you are different you are normal in how you feel. All this and much more inside Cafe Conversations.

After The Darkness Comes The Light (It Gets Better With Time to Heal)

This episode is a follow-up episode of a previous episode I did entitled the "Darkest Place". One of the listeners asked if I was gonna do a follow-up on my recovery and how I was coming along since opening up about having a mental break down, so here it is! In this episode I share what I've learned about myself while in therapy, as for as my own fails in regards to not taking proper care of myself. I talk about the fear, anger, low self-esteem and lack of confidence I developed within myself and what I am doing to correct these things so that they never happen again, starting with boundaries and lots of self care. I hope that those of you who listen to this episode can walk away with something that helps you to recognize broken character flaws within yourself that are in need or repair or corrections.

Church Folk, Saved Folks & Forgiveness

Church Folk, Saved Folks & Forgiveness

A Conversation on the difference between Church Folks, Saved Folks and how to forgive folks. I’ve been in church all my life, we went Sunday after Sunday, not to mention choir rehearsal, Bible study, BTU, Vacation Bible School, 3pm Sunday service, and those infamous 3day revivals. If there was a service, we attended it. But did it make us better people, did it change or shape us into people like Christ? I and many others would beg to differ. Your church attendance won’t get you into heaven, and everybody who talks about heaven, ain’t going...

The American Pandamdemic & Racism

The last three months have been scary for some, depressing for others and stressful for the rest of us. During these times we've witnessed prejudice, discrimination, deceptiveness and shoddiness from the media and most of all our own government. hundreds or thousands have been infected, and affected due to Covid-19. But the most alarming thing in all of this, is the fact that it is obviously still illegal to be BLACK in America.

In Times Like These

In Times Like These

The Coronavirus also know as Covid-19, is changing all of our lives in some way or another, but one particular way of life I've seen it change and have a great impact on, is the church. The church is the key essential and spiritual element for many of us and a way of life and spiritual connectivity for millions all over the world, especially the American people, and even more so, with the African Americans. The Church is where you go to meet God along with our fellow Sisters and brothers in Christ, to hear the preached word as a part of our spiritual growth and closeness to God, to learn about God and his plan for our lives. Covid-19 has now changed the way we have church, going from in person church services to now virtual church service, and this has a lot of church attendees pretty upset. In this episode, my sister and I discuss how this mysterious disease is impacting the people of the Church in, "The Coronavirus -V- The Church."

Looking Back at Cafe Conversations A Year Later

It was a year ago the idea was presented to me to start this podcast, and very naively, I did. I learned so much in this past year, and realize that there is so much more for me to learn. There is so much I want to do with Cafe Conversation, because I know that I can. If I made it a year, I know that I can go further. The podcast industry is a fast growing industry, and it's a very competitive one as well, and although I didn't get everything that I wanted to do done in this 1st year, I am looking forward to resetting gaols, setting new goals and reach those goals successfully. Until next season, I bid you peace.

Secrets & Silent Screams (A story of a boy fighting to become a man)

Secrets & Silent Screams (A story of a boy fighting to become a man)

According to the Center For Family Justice, 1 in 4 females and 1 out of 6 males are sexually assaulted in their life time. Yet, only 230 out of every 1,000 assaults are ever reported to the police.
In this episode, I had the pleasure of having a very intimate conversation with a brother by the name of Mr. Kerry Kay, an old neighborhood friend, that came up with me from back in the day. What Kerry shared with me in this interview, I never would have or could have imagined him having gone through, or anybody matter of fact, after all he was a "BOY", who seemed happy. What Kerry shares in the episode was of his own free will and his own act of transparency.
Kerry Ray was born in Dallas Texas, of June 1978 to his parents, James and Rita Ray in this household were three children with Kerry being the middle child. At the young age of 9-10 years old, Kerry Ray, was molested by a friend of the family... multiple times, which turned Kerry Ray, a once happy jolly child, filled with his parents love and joy.... toward a life of destructive and out of control behavior because of what took place in his childhood. After entering middle school Kerry began to indulge in controlled substances off and on, which also played a big part in his path to disfunction, which led to jails and institutions. By Kerry's mid-30s, it was during his time in a correctional facility, he was introduced to an onsite group therapy group. It was there he divulged for the first time the secrets of molestation from his childhood, that helped him to finally begin to break through the shell of pain that had encased himself in for so long. Today, Kerry is a single father of five children and three grandchildren, and in a fight for his life, peace and sound mind. Kerry is a recovering addict also, having tried various kinds drugs, having been a former gang member, a womenizer and mastermind of manipulation. Who today is now, working to develop a spiritual relationship with God as he likes to called him, Allah. For it is through him Kerry has seen and reached peace, humbleness and happiness, This is the story of Kerry Ray.

Growing In Grace w/Mahlon Gray

Growing In Grace w/Mahlon Gray

In this episode I got a chance to have a really great conversation with a my former radio mate, Mahlon Gray also known as Ladies Man May. We get into how life and life's experiences can cause you to change, and evolve, through life , and death. We discuss the confounds of parenthood and how it shaped his life and life's decisions. Although Mahlon admits there's still yet work to be done regarding him as a person/man, he shares with us of how he's growing in grace.

Cafe Conversations Thursday Night Facebook Live!

Cafe Conversations Thursday Night Facebook Live!

About a month or so ago, I started doing Facebook Lives for fun and as a way to connect with people. I thought it would be cool to do a recorded podcast with my Facebook Followers as my participating audience. In this episode, we're discussing Lizzo's Laker game twerk that sent the internet and blogs a blaze and should there be privacy in a marriage. If I must say, this was fun, it was different and I hope you enjoy it.
