Sometimes our emotions can get the best of us. An emotion is a complex psychological state that involves a subjective experience, a physiological response, and a behavioral or expressive response. LGBT individuals have a different perspective on some aspects of the pandemic than non-LGBT people, including the media’s portrayal and their own level of safety and concern. They also have different views on COVID-19 risk mitigation efforts. One-third (34%) of LGBT adults say the news has generally underestimated the seriousness of the pandemic (compared to 23% of non-LGBT adults). The S.A.N.E Project interviews Paint.Gay. Paint Fremmerlid grew up in a small Northern Alberta community in Canada before moving to Edmonton when he was 16. He completed most of he/him/his undergraduate degree in Disability Studies before experiencing a psychosis and embarking on a turbulent journey navigating disability, mental illness, and occupational wellness before reaching a state of complete burnout in 2019. He has since been diagnosed with a hypermobility disability and is coming to terms with living on the neurodivergent spectrum. He has survived a near-death sexual assault, medical gaslighting and has fought to be understood, speak his truth, and is on a continuous journey of growth and healing.

Three LGBTQAI+ Black Men share their perspectives, tell their stories, and open up about their self-acceptance experience. They also reflect on Lil Nas X's, American rapper, singer, songwriter, and internet personality, newly released video titled "Montero." In the video, Lil Nas X also speaks his truth artistically as most faith-based communities believe that same-gender-loving souls should burn in hell.
