My Mother's Day Surprise
When you've lost a child, Mother's Day can be heart-wrenching.  It is supposed to be a day of celebration and excitement, but for a bereaved parent, it can act like a catapult of emotion, drawing attention to all that is lost. In the past, I've tried to fill this day with honour towards my own Mother and Daughter, so they feel special... and I try to minimize the need I have in my heart for my own loss.  It can be quite difficult, especially for those who do not have a good support system.   Sometimes the universe hears our needs and the waves of love break through the barriers of different worlds. When Someone You Love Dies A Piece Of Your Heart Goes With Them
Grief is something we have not been prepared for.  In the Western World, we face the death of a loved one with unexpected emotions, difficulty in coping with the overwhelming pain, and the need for resources that seem to be scarce, as we've never been taught even where to look. In facing my own journey of healing from the loss of a child, I have studied and learned ways to cope with the excruciating pain of loss.  Grief is not something you will ever overcome completely, but you can rebuild a life around the emptiness that will always reside deep within your heart, as the loss of someone we love is a burden we must carry.  In rediscovering what is hidden within our internal core, we can find meaning and resources that will allow us to move towards the future with a renewed sense of purpose for life itself. Our journey will never be finished but if you are unsure of where to start, try some of the resources available here.
