It’s ok to be uncomfortable and a happy moment with Deb
In any healing journey, inevitably the things that caused you to be sick will come up for you to reevaluate. As we continue in this process of dismantling racism, where have you been feeling uncomfortable? That’s good, lean into that feeling. It will show you some new things. The book I mention is How to be Anti-Racist by Dr. Ibram X. Kendi. Here is also an amazing list of resources by Zahra Barnes for Black mental health resources if anyone is looking. https://www.self.com/story/black-mental-health-resources?fbclid=IwAR1gY-R_kveYrGFiKyD0ChQORtq6UWIK4-Cj-Oqarm3gJaN5v4rN2Hv_jXQ

Bedtime Story About Race Politics with a Non-Black Five Year Old
Have we all been hearing about how kids as young as 2 start internalizing notions about race and how important it is to talk to them about it? Me too, but I always wonder, “how?” So here is an example of me doing it and sometimes doing it poorly because it’s awkward and hard. There were many cringeworthy moments and he surprised me with some toxic masculinity I didn’t know someone who I have been so careful in shielding from violence and mindful about gender language could be. I hope this is listened to with love.
