After a two-month break, the Unstoppable Dad Project podcast is back and from next week there will be a new interview-style format, that will alterante with some solo episodes. I have already recorded several interviews that will be released over the next few weeks.


During the break, Ireassessed my goals for the podcast and have been pursuing a diploma in counseling to offer a more holistic approach to coaching.


This week I also discussed the importance of compassionate curiosity in overcoming resistance and taking action.


The podcast will continue to be free and will include both interviews and solo episodes.

I think its human nature to look for the easy way out.

If something goes wrong its easy to blame something thats outside of our control.

But by doing that we can give away our power to correct the situation, and in turn get us in an even worse spot.

Life exists on a spectrum.

There can be an expectation where we can feel like we need to be all of something and none of the opposite.

For example you either need to be completely tough and stoic and not be vunerable and upset.

This for some can cause a bit of inner turmoil.

This week I talk about how everything exists on a spectrum and depedning on what situation we are dealing with, it will depend on what state we are required to be in.

Getting by just doing the minimum, sometimes its needed to just tick the box and move on.

In other areas just ticking off the minimum can eat away at your confidence.

There is something to be said for doing more than the minimum, how it can impact the end result and also our confidence along the way.

One skill that can be super hard to learn as a coach, husband and father is when to shut up.

Sometimes not saying anything and resisting the urge to fix or help can be whats actually needed to fix or help.

Its something that I try and implement in my life every day.

I do feel however that for some people (myself included) it can lead to complacency.

Something I have been thinking about lately is where is the line where being vunerable is too much?

Being vunerable isnt a bad thing at all, however at some point we need to be able to be capable of overcoming the trials we are going through.

I know there has been times in life where I have still got done what I needed to but when I look back on it I only put in just enough effort to get the task done and no more.

For the last few months Ive been thinking about how we can cultivate effort in our kids and this weeks a bit of a dive into how we can put in the right amount of effort and use that as the example we want to set.

Life can be seen as a big game, to some people that might motivate to others it might make it all a little bit trivial.

The thing with some of the “games” or circumstances in life is that there is no defined winner, so sometimes the goal is to be able to keep playing for as long as possible.

So there seems to be a bit of thing on the interwebs at the moment where Im seeing a lot of anti cardio sentiment.

Now dont get me wrong there are times in my training life where Ive felt that anything over 5 reps is cardio and shouldnt be done.

But for A LOT of people there are some pretty major benefits in spending some time with an elevated heart rate.

Over the last 15 years of coaching, I’ve seen that there are 3 concepts that should be adhered to for a training program to be successful.

What’s more important knowledge or experience?

I think both are important and sometimes knowledge needs to come before experience but for where I’m at in my life experience is more important.

Experience means you’ve taken action on the knowledge that you’ve gained, I believe it’s also the key to building confidence and resilience.
