ANTI - LGBTIQ+ BILL TABLED IN GHANA; A THREAT TO HUMAN RIGHTS
An unconstitutional and dangerous anti -LGBTIQ+ bill was tabled in Ghana, earlier this year. The bill, similar to the Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2009 that was tabled in Uganda, threatens human rights, not only of LGBTIQ Ghanaians, but of their families, friends and service providers, as well. Meet Chris Katiiti Adebayo as he describes the invisibility of black trans people in the BLM
The Gateaway in Alberta, Edmonton describes Chris as, "Chris Adebayo Katiiti, a black transgender man and local Edmonton activist, was also featured for his work founding RaricaNow, a non-profit organization advocating for the human rights of LGBTQ2S+ refugees. Adebayo Katiiti also led last year’s Stonewall Rally which recognized not only Stonewall, but also black figures that have been left-behind in movements.
“Queer, transgender, and Indigenous, black folks that have not been recognized, he’s done so much of the work in Edmonton in making sure that they have been given the spotlight and recognition they deserved,” Zewde said. “He’s definitely someone I wanted to make sure was on the wall.”

COVID-19's Impact on Queer Africa

The three defenders explore the effect of COVID-19 on the lives and livelihoods of LGBTQ+ communities in Africa; with a special focus on Uganda in East Africa and the Kingdom of Lesotho in Southern Africa.

Lesbian Visibility Month with Dr. Beverley Palesa Ditsie
In recognition and honor of Lesbian Visibility Day/Week/Month, The Victor Mukasa Show is bringing to you an African lesbian human rights icon, Dr. Beverley Palesa Ditsie aka Bev Ditsie
Bev, was an anti-apartheid activist and one of the earliest LGBT human rights defenders in South Africa. She is a successful film maker, and VERY specific to this episode, she was the first openly lesbian woman to address LGBT human rights issues at United Nations. Bev's visibility both in South Africa and at the UN contributed a lot to the visibility of the African LGBTQ++ human rights movement, internationally. Her story continues to empower, not only lesbian women and activists but many queer people out there.
