At the age of 5 she was diagnosed with Rheumatic Heart Disease, medical doctors said there was no cure, and she would have to stay on antibiotics the rest of her life. In this setting, D'Coda experienced the conflict between modern medicine and Ozark herbalism back in the 1950s. Her mother wanted her to be treated by “modern medicine” but her Grandmother, who  insisted that plants were the answer, won out. D'Coda overcame the illness thanks to natural treatments and became her grandmother's dedicated pupil known as the “wild woman of the Ozarks”, D’Coda is the last of a line of Ozark Granny Women.  D'Coda Director, Instructor Ozark Herbal Academy The Ultimate Herbal Database Join her Facebook Group: Herbal Knowledge Keepers Watch our show, Herbal Knowledge Keepers Anna May Meade Anna and Mary Meade are sisters. Mary had metastatic breast cancer and wanted to know if cannabis could help. Anna lived in MA were cannabis was legal and helped Mary use cannabis to manage her sleep, pain, and opioid withdrawal after her surgery. We realized that many people could benefit from cannabis but might not have a sister to help them. So we decided to write a book to answer basic questions. The book has been well received across the country and has traveled to countries around the world. Everyone wants to know about THC, CBD, and cannabis products. “A powerhouse of information, guidance, science, and art.” “ A must buy.” The book is a great introduction and a resource for the more experienced consumer. In 1979 she was diagnosed with MS before there were definitive ways to diagnose it. In 1995 her first grand was born and she quit thinking this isn’t something grandmas do. Fast forward to 2001 when she began to have some physical issues and was diagnosed with MS and give western medicine to treat it. Within 9 years she had be near death twice, paralyzed 3 times and wound up in the hospital with a failed pancreas and liver. At which time she told her doctor if the cure is going to kill me then I will take my chances with the ill. 2 week later she was in Spokane, the only place in Eastern Washington to get medical authorizations and had one. Over the next 10 years she spent time researching, attending MMJ University taking classes, and attending any and all functions relating to cannabis such as Hempfest (volunteer for 3 years), CannaCon, Cannabis Summit and many more gaining knowledge along the way. Season 4, Extended Episode 12: Cannabis and Cancer
The Wendy Love Edge Show with Topher Kogen does not dispense medical advice.    Dr Brian Nichol Cannabisexpertmd.com "Medical cannabis patients are certified by a physician as having a qualifying condition. The patient is issued a card and then, too often is left to decide for themselves as to the best treatment. Dispensary employees are usually the cornerstone of giving patients advice on strains and how to use cannabis. Sometimes they are very good at giving recommendations. Sometimes, not so much.  Modern medicine treats disease with the drugs that are effective for the majority of patients, forgetting that we are all very different individuals. What is a good choice for one patient may be ineffective or cause side effects in another. Although most patients see some improvement in using cannabis, getting the best result is a bit more complicated…  I have seen patients without much knowledge or direction experience lukewarm results of medical marijuana. I have also seen those so-so results turn into remarkable improvement under the knowledgeable direction of a doctor that treats the individual patient using the correct combination/forms/amount of cannabis.  It is my hope to sift through all the noise, marketing, agenda driven studies, politics and stigmas encountered when one tries to be an informed medical cannabis patient. I want you to get the best result from medical cannabis you can."   Debbie Hansen  In 2003, I was diagnosed with infiltrating ductal carcinoma, breast cancer. I worked as a nurse for 32 years and had determined long before this diagnosis, that if I ever had cancer, I would not do the brutal cancer treatment of chemo and radiation. I still maintain that belief. After many surgeries, including a double mastectomies, the cancer kept returning canceling any hope of reconstruction. In 2007 I was basically sent home to die because of my refusal to do cancer treatment. With this said, I asked my doctor to only keep me comfortable until my impending death. This started a whole new can of worms. I ended up in a narcotic fog for about 7 years. So much I missed in these 7 years. Finally at the end of 2012 I realized I wasn't dead. I slowly weaned off all of my narcotics, which I'll list here. Morphine 270 mg a day, oxycodone 60 mg today, Xanax 4 mg a day, Adderall 40 mg today, and countless pharmaceuticals to alleviate the side effects of all the pharmaceuticals I was on. As I weaned off of all these drugs, I found myself in a world of pain. A friend of mine took me to Seattle and I was introduced to cannabis as a medicine, although I had used it recreationally since I was a kid. I started FECO (full extract cannabis oil)."  Watch the show for more information on Debbie's story!   Pamela Jacobsen "My name is Pamela Jacobsen and I am an American Medical Refugee forced to leave my home in MS to relocate where I have safe access. I was dying without cannabis and now that I have access, I am living instead of dying. I originally went the conventional route with chemo and radiation and was severely over radiated resulting in 109 surgeries to correct their mistake. I have beat cancer twice with full extract cannabis oil. Season 4, Extended Episode 9: Celebrating Food
#cannacook #eatrealfood #FIMM    The Wendy Love Edge Show with Topher Kogen does not dispense medical advice and all of your health choices are your own.  Guests: Mary Williams RN, Med, Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner  "I grew up on a small urban farm and was lucky enough to be raised by a mother who was into healthy eating when it wasn’t popular-Adele Davis was her nutrition mentor.  As a child, I ate garden vegetables from soil that I’m sure was organic (but we didn’t even need to know that term) grass fed pork, beef and chicken, pastured eggs, raw milk, cream and homemade butter, bone broth soups and homemade bread.   But, when I left home, I adopted the ways of our culture and spent the next ~40 years indulging in the SAD (standard American diet) replete with margarine, low fat, high sugar processed foods, highly processed oils, feed lot meats full of antibiotics and hormones etc.  You get the picture.   I am also a Registered Nurse with a Master Degree in Education and spent my 39 year nursing career in the hospital environment both as a nurse and a healthcare executive.  I loved my work and might still be there if circumstances had been different.  About 9 years ago, when my husband became debilitated with an autoimmune disease, I quit work to stay home and care for him.  This journey over the next 7 years led me to read and study all I could about ways to help him and focused primarily on nutrition.  To his dismay, he was the subject of many different food experiments and supplements in this attempt.     During that period, I spent a lot of time in the kitchen. We began drinking raw pastured milk, and I started making homemade raw butter and cheeses, fermenting fruit/veges and teas, soaking grains, nuts and legume, etc.  I slowly converted our home to an organic, non-toxic environment (that mission is not quite finished).    In the end, I couldn’t do enough to help him heal himself, but I have become convinced that through his illness, I discovered a purpose for the rest of my life.  That purpose is to improve my own health through proper diet and lifestyle and to help anyone who will let me do the same.  I believe passionately that we all can help our bodies to heal if we nourish them well and eliminate toxins from our lives.   I try hard every day to live what I preach.  My attempts are far from ideal but every morning I commit to doing everything I can that day to regain and maintain good health – through food/supplements, exercise, attitude and lifestyle." https://www.marywillnourish.com Jordan Anderson,  Holistic Nutritionist and Cooking Instructor https://www.facebook.com/healthyhoneybee1218 Teddi Jo Kohr, AKA Miss Teddi Food is Medicine Consultant, Author and Cannabis Content Creator https://www.facebook.com/learnfromTeddi Musical Guest: Ashtyn Barbaree https://www.ashtynbarbaree.com/  Cannabis Expert MD cannabisexpertmd.com   This show is written and created by Wendy Love Edge and Topher Kogen  Show management and production A. Dr. Dhanabalan is the Founder/CEO of Global Health & Hygiene Solutions, LLC whose mission is to promote wellness and prevent illness in the global and private sectors. She currently practices at Uplifting Health & Wellness in Cambridge, MA. She is dedicated to “Educating, Embracing, and Empowering” her patients while promoting cannabis as a treatment option. Dr. Dhanabalan believes that “Cannabis is not an entrance drug; it is an exit drug from pharmaceuticals and narcotics.”™️   Dr Brian Nichol  https://cannabisexpertmd.com "Medical cannabis patients are certified by a physician as having a qualifying condition. The patient is issued a card and then, too often is left to decide for themselves as to the best treatment. Dispensary employees are usually the cornerstone of giving patients advice on strains and how to use cannabis. I want you to get the best result from medical cannabis you can."  Dr Mary Clifton  https://cbdandcannabisinfo.com Mary Clifton, M.D. is a board-certified, licensed, internal medicine doctor. ... Went onto to Graduate Studies at the University of San Diego, focusing study on the use of CBD and THC as a viable alternative medical intervention for veterans. -Former Veteran Liaison for Service Learning and Civil Engagement, The Citadel Military College of South Carolina The Sleepy Bear Story: A tale of how some little blue bears dared to help people dream. Launched in early 2020, Sleepy Bear was born with one idea in mind: to provide a natural nighttime option that customers could trust to not only be effective but most importantly safe. Sleepy Bear was founded by Kyle Paradiso, a former army ranger, whose service injuries guided him into research involving the use of cannabis and other homeopathic remedies for medical intervention. While working on his graduate degree, the 2018 Farm Bill was passed, legalizing hemp products nationwide. With this legalization came a flood of subpar CBD products emerging on the market. It was during this time he realized a glaring lack of scientifically minded and effectively formulated products and saw an opportunity to create a better class of products, hoping to further the narrative for change. It was with this passion and heart that he created Sleepy Bear. The heart of our company, a little blue bear, quickly found its way into stores nationwide and the bedroom of thousands of happy and sleepy customers  Deborah Crooks  https://www.deborahcrooks.com  #FIMM Food is Medicine Minute- Miss Teddi FB @learnfromteddi  #MCM Medical Cannabis Minute - cannabisexpertmd.com Dr. Brian Nichol   This show is written by Wendy Love Edge and Topher Kogen  Managed by A. I was born in Iowa, but moved to Arkansas at 9 years old, in 1992. About 1997 or 1998, I discovered cannabis for the first time. I realized that I was finally able to be calm after years of being prescribed different types of medicines for ADHD that did not work. I was finally able to feel normal. Since cannabis was not yet legal, I struggled through using different narcotics, psychotropic medicines, and prescriptions for my various health issues. This led to suicide attempts throughout my life, including one that led me to being hospitalized. About the same time, cannabis was coming up for a legalization vote in Arkansas. My wife and I decided to explore the use of cannabis once again as part of my medical regime. Of course, that made a big difference.  In the past couple years, I have opened up to my wife and we discovered together that cannabis helps my pain and makes me a better father and husband.  Creating art became an outlet for my mental health therapy, especially since I struggle with reading and writing, so journaling was not helpful for me. After a few months, I discovered that painting pieces that feature cannabis are the ones that I enjoy creating the most." - Matt Flowers Emily Victoria Smith: @theonemanbandit  Emily V. Season 4, Episode 18 W/Far Away Guests
In this episode Wendy and Topher interview the following guests:    Health-  Maria Chowdhury, Herbalist and owner and proprietor of Birthsong Botanicals. https://www.birthsongbotanicals.com  In the Green Zone- Amy Mellen Amy Mellen is a medical cannabis patient/caregiver, advocate & public speaker from Portland, Oregon, and living in Waldorf, MD since 2016. She enjoys advocating for other patients, teaching folks how to make homemade remedies, sharing her healing story at community events, and lobbying with medical cannabis organizations on Capitol Hill. Many people open their minds and become more receptive to cannabis as a medicine, when they hear Amy speak about her personal experiences, and learn that she herself didn't even begin cannabis until the age of 45 in 2014. After which, she replaced over 40 pills/supplements a day & dropped over 200 lbs.  Amy is known on her social media platform as Onebeautifulhotmess, where she utilizes her pages to open minds, and help others understand what life is like for chronic pain patients. She enjoys helping to coach cannabis newbies, by sharing what tools work for her, and how she makes her own herbal remedies at home to treat her daily struggles with CRPS Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, EDS Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, neuropathy, Traumatic Brain Injury & more.  Due to pharmaceutical damage over the years, Amy has developed Tardive  Dyskinesia (involuntary muscle tics), and also had to receive a pacemaker in 2017 to correct a Left Bundle Branch blockage. Both conditions make medicating with cannabis a huge challenge daily for Amy, but one she says is well worth it.  Amy's TD has lead to an extreme terpene sensitivity, which leaves her able to utilize on 5% of the products and strains in MD medical cannabis market. Certain terpenes (essential oils) in cannabis are too stimulating for her brain, and set off her debilitating tics, while other terpenes calm her brain. If Amy's shoulder tic is not kept under control, then the lead from her pacemaker will dislodge and she requires emergency surgery. Therefore, it's imperative that Amy purchase her cannabis flower in local MD dispensaries, and custom make all of her own oils, extracts, infusions, medibles, suppositories and more, right at home.  Amy has created a Gourmet CBD Lozenge called Hot Mess Suckies, that allows folks to effectively receive hemp CBD sublingually. Amy's lozenges are gluten-free, dye-free, dairy-free and vegan. You may obtain information at hotmesssuckies@gmail.com.  Amy speakd at an eventd,  and shares her healing experiences with cannabis and plant healing, please email her at onebeautifulhotmess@gmail.com.   Little Philosophies:  David O'Toole https://www.davidotooleart.com   Cannabisexpertmd.com Dr Brian Nichol pairs cannabis with the music of the week.  Music- Lopaka Rootz https://www.facebook.com/LopakaRootzmusic/  ***The Wendy Love Edge Show with Topher Kogen does not dispense medical advice and all of your health choices are your own.    Sponsored by - https://karashealthcare.com   https://www.getbuffaloco.com   https://www.facebook.com/131inclusion   Also NWA Natural Living https://www.facebook.com/nwanaturallivingllc Purely Natural CBD https://purelynaturalonline.com/ Lit Premium Smoking Supplies https://www.litsmokingsupplies.com/ Mary Will Nourish https://www.marywillnourish.com/ Highlands Residential Mortgage  https://highlandsmortgage.com/agents/lynsey-camp/ Editing: Flint Woods Booking Music and Art;  mikekinklebooking@gmail.com House Band- The Buds  Theme Song Will Brand  Join us on Patreon:  http://patreon.com/thewendyloveedgeshow  This show is managed by aedgeproductions@gmail.com

Season 4, Episode 6 w/Far Away Guests Mike Wise, Nikki Lawley, Ray Porter & Zac Slusher, and Bootleg Royale
Join Wendy and Topher as they interview the following guests:  Health- Nikki Lawley   Nikki Lawley Bio  Nikki Lawley, Cannabis Advocate and Educator   Traumatic brain injury stole my joy, but cannabis returned it. ›❈ Nikki, a NY state resident, has always been a proud and diligent worker. She’s served as an HVAC filtration salesperson, later starting her own company, then as a casino dealer, and most recently, as a pediatric nurse. She had suffered two traumatic brain injuries during her younger years, but it was the third TBI that suddenly changed everything. In a heartbeat, her life changed from one of optimism, vibrancy, enthusiasm, confidence, and extroversion, to one of constant pain, withdrawal, depression, and hopelessness. While trying to help administer a routine vaccine to a young boy, Nikki was thrown against the wall, suffering a significant TBI and cervical instability in the process. Nikki’s TBI has caused cognitive deficiencies, confusion, memory loss, anxiety, and pain. She found herself unable to work, unable to interact with others, and in a very dark place. None of the numerous traditional medications she’s tried helped, and if fact, their ghastly side effects left her even worse off. She had long since reached the end of her rope, when, on a whim, figuring she had nothing more to lose, she turned to cannabis.   Little did she know that this seemingly mundane weed would save her life and restore her hope. Cannabis helps Nikki alleviate her pain, reducing it from unbearable levels to more manageable ones, and empowering to her to live her life again.  She has shared her story and journey with many, she is a member of multiple online support groups for individuals that have suffered head injuries, she serves as an active voice in the cannabis communities, and she hopes to use her story to inspire others to never give up. You can find more information about her journey at https://linktr.ee/Nikkilawley  Nikki Lawley  716-870-4744   In the Green Zone- Mike Wise   https://www.youtube.com/c/TheMikeWiseShow/videos https://www.facebook.com/mikewiseshow/  Little Philosophies (Lil Phil) - Zac Slusher and Ray Porter continue the conversation about horror movies.  Music- Bootleg Royale https://www.facebook.com/bootlegroyale/ Many thanks to our sponsors and patrons https://www.facebook.com/131inclusion/ https://karashealthcare.com/ https://www.getbuffaloco.com/ https://highlandsmortgage.com/agents/lynsey-camp/ https://purelynaturalonline.com/ https://www.litsmokingsupplies.com/ https://www.facebook.com/nwanaturallivingllc/ https://www.alicecbd.com/ https://www.facebook.com/backtobalancepg/ Join us on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/m/thewendyloveedgeshow/community

Season 3, Episode 19, Quarantine Edition 9 W/ Far Away Guests
Join Wendy and Topher as they host the following guests:  Health: Jennifer Rollins I meet the Pole 20 years ago at a strip club. (1999) 2000 I became a mom for the first time. In 2002 I began studying yoga and holistic lifestyle. The Pole came home in 2004 (Thank you Oprah and Shiela Kelly! ) 2009 Polistic Plus was born in my bedroom during a week long cleanse after a divorce. 2011 I had my breast implants explanted. 2014 I had tubal ligation reversal, then a miscarriage, then finally in early 15 I birthed my 4th baby at home. In 2015 tragedy hit my life. I sank into a deep depression and nearly took my own life. In 2017 I weighed 175 pounds, was developing chronic illness and drinking alcohol on the regular. January 20, 2018 I made a choice to change my life. I began 30 minutes of Pole Yoga a week. 8-18-18 I took a vow of sobriety from alcohol. 2 years later, 2020 I am back to my healthy weight of 120-125! I LOVE MY LIFE EVERY DAY!!!!!!! This practice has been thoroughly tested and proven. The Pole is a trusted energy healing tool. As long as there are humans suffering, I will share this practice. For me, and others, the Pole is like a portal to another place, higher dimensions. This is my testimony of how I turned my life around. There have been women in my bloodline that have taken their own lives. Suicide, depression and addiction plague our humanity. The pole can help. This is how I serve. In The Green Zone RC and Melanie Myers It’s 2019 and with the legalization of hemp cultivation, the Rollins family risks it all to become pioneers in the hemp movement. This film aims to showcase the determination and faith required to participate in such a green revolution. Made by first time filmmakers Melanie and R.C. Myers. A Wendy Love Edge Show Extra: Laura Bailey APRN: NWA Mobile Health
Wendy interviewed Laura Bailey, APRN as a show extra! Here is some more information about Ms. Bailey, owner and operator of NWA Mobile Health. "My name is Laura Bailey. I am a Family Nurse Practitioner with 7 years experience in both the Emergency and Clinic setting. Before that I was an ICU and ER nurse for 17 years. Growing up I watched westerns with my father and while he was interested in the cowboys, I was enamored with the doctor. When the man came in with the black bag and helped sick people feel better or sad people be happy, I was amazed. I honestly think that was where all of this started. I recently had a patient say, "this is like Little House on the Prairie when they made house calls." I knew then that this was the right thing for me and had finally arrived. So, I guess you could say this has always been my dream, caring for people where they live. I have a very loving and supportive husband who has been there with me every step of the way." A note from Yolanda: I am a psychotherapist, spiritual friend, and teacher, with clients in Northwest Arkansas as well as on both coasts. I am an integrative psychotherapist. What does that mean? It means that I can meet you psychologically and/or spiritually wherever you are because I have done my own work. Over the last twenty years I have trained extensively in both psychological and spiritual methodologies in North America, South America, and through extensive self inquiry. My practice incorporates Western developmental theory, Eastern depth psychology, as well as a transpersonal approach to personal growth and transformation. Please note: My office is not a sterile, extremely formal environment; yet, we work very hard while actually having a lot of fun. It is a fantastic journey.
