Russell Brand dropped a video yesterday talking about his recent baptism which EVERYONE is talking about. One thing he repeatedly mentions is that people are fed up with looking for fulfillment and not finding it and that's causing tons of people to turn to Jesus and Christianity. Is Russell Brand recognizing things that the rest of us Christians maybe haven't caught onto yet? That being that people are coming to Jesus like mad everyone it seems! Are we seeing a revival? The Complementarian vs. Egalitarian debate has caused untold amount of arguments and division in the Church throughout the years. Complementarian's believe that women have limited roles in Church leadership while Egalitarian's believe men and women can hold the same positions in Church leadership. There's more to it than that but that's the general idea. With that said, it's not surprising that this has been a contentious topic for many. Dr. Michelle Lee Barnewall wrote a book titled "Neither Complementarian nor Egalitarian: A Kingdom Corrective to the Evangelical Gender Debate" that helps us get back to the point of the Scriptures. She asks the question, "Is the Bible concerned with who can do what, or is it calling us to something even higher that requires more love and sacrifice? Enjoy!

Mike Todd has had controversy after controversy with his extreme examples and questionable teaching aids. Today we look at how he put syrup on the Bible, lathered spit on someones face, explained his view on the rainbow community, and other videos that have caused him to go viral. Enjoy!

Christian's have been known to believe some weird things like a donkey spoke in the Bible, a sea actually split down the middle to allow people to walk on dry ground all the way across, and that God can forgive sins through faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on the cross. Those are all true, by the way. However, there are some Christians who believe in more dogmatic and cultural things than what the Bible says and some times those beliefs get out of control. Habakkuk is the only prophetic book in the Bible that is not addressing a specific people group but is a conversation between God and Habakkuk as to why God has allowed Israel to go through a terrible time of political and religious corruption, abuse of the poor, violation of rights, and on top of all that - external military threats. Cessationism is a theological belief that teaches that the gifts of the spirit (Prophecy, healings, words of knowledge, tongues, etc.) have ceased. We know it's more nuanced than that but in general, that's what it is. This is problematic because there is no indication in Scripture that the gifts will cease before Jesus has His second coming. More than that, the Bible explicitly commands us to earnestly desire the gifts, ESPECIALLY prophecy. So, if people are teaching that the gifts stopped and we shouldn't go after them, then that's a direct contradiction to the Word of God. This is why it's dangerous. The video was gaining traction because the Church decided to put up a welcome sign and greet them with love. Many would say that this is inappropriate and compromising. But is that the truth? In recent times Biblical scholarship has become widely more accessible to the public, which overall is a good thing. However, with all good things come bad things as well. One of those bad things is that people think that just because a scholar or scholars believe something, then that becomes the absolute truth. Unfortunately, these same people might not realize that a lot of those scholars aren't Christian and don't consider the supernatural in their work.
