The Power Of Storytelling

The Power Of Storytelling

The Power of Storytelling has evolved since ancient times but the essence of engaging the audience by evoking emotions, imaginary, memories, senses and brain activities remains the anchor of narratives regardless of the medium. Storytelling is the daily essence of life and when effectively employed in business, can create iconic brands and products across the global sphere. Stories can entertain, teach life lessons, convey complex ideas, spur innovative thinking and invite a myriad of perspectives. Good stories have a coherent thread and intention to consciously uplift and impact the recipient. The value of a good story lies in the relevance to the individual and the circumstances. This is particularly relevant at a time, when misinformation and disinformation are widespread. Well told stories must be authentic to resonate and be impactful within an eco-system and beyond. Listeners' Choice: It's All In The Mind

Listeners' Choice: It's All In The Mind

We begin this podcast with an oration from Benny Finisher as we prepare to dialogue with Youth.
There is growing advocacy to empower the younger population to contribute and continue to strive for better representation given the extenuating challenges facing the world post pandemic.
Today’s youth are faced with issues of underemployment and unemployment in the wake of worsening insecurity and economic hardship.
The frustration is sometimes due to the fear of being judged or getting arrested in oppressive circumstances. In some situations, the youth have given up on education. In the case of Nigeria, millions of university students have had their education stunted by a lingering strike of public university lecturers.
Regardless of the situation, the youth are further challenged on how best to express themselves or how to make informed decisions. Having the right mindset is crucial at a time when there are more young people in the world than ever in the history of humanity.
In this episode of Thinking Reimagined®️, Benny Finisher (Poet and Writer, Menace), Melvina Olisa (Future Lady Surveyor), Nkem Nwokolo (Student), Dhung Tsok-Nwok (Production Supervisor, Thinking Reimagined®️ Podcast) and Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator) explore the myriad of challenges facing today's youth, how to turn the setbacks into opportunities, the life skills necessary to Thrive and how to start harnessing the power of the mind.

Listeners' Choice: The Intricacies of Introversion

Listeners' Choice: The Intricacies of Introversion

Today, there are growing negative biases towards people who are introverted by nature and advocates advise that there is a need to shift the narrative and recognise that introverts bring much dynamism to the table as good listeners, analysts and Out of The Box thinkers. Understanding the differences distinguishing introversion and social anxiety is critical to harnessing the skill-set and communication styles of introverts. Furthermore, the biases placed on genders can further hinder the abilities of introverts to Thrive in a world which celebrates extroversion. It is therefore necessary to create  an atmosphere of belonging  which is crucial in a neuro-divergent setting from the classroom to the workplace. In this episode of Thinking Reimagined®️, Carol (Lewis) Stewart MSc, FInstLM (Executive, Career, Leadership Coach, Facilitator, Trainer and Speaker), Ms. Abi (Founder & Executive Director, PATISS), Peter Armand Boyo (Director, Actor, Filmmaker and Brand Ambassador), Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ Live Abundantly!®️ & Thinking Reimagined®️ and Chair, British Business Group, Nigeria) and Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator) discuss  inclusive communication skills and tips for a greater understanding and acceptance of introverts within the society.

Listeners' Choice: The Good Girl Syndrome

Listeners' Choice: The Good Girl Syndrome

The Good Girl Syndrome is a mindset imposed on girls and women to the detriment of their sense of Self, success and overall well-being. It is masked as socially acceptable norms - from behaviour to presentation and how to interact amongst others, to name a few. Often girls are told not to climb trees or to sit in a less suggestive manner because it would attract the wrong type of attention. Ladies are taught not to express strong views so as not to sound aggressive. They are taught to modify their attire and speak with a particular tone to avoid being labelled as rebellious. The Good Girl Syndrome is the unwritten sensible script which follows a woman throughout her life beginning with parents, then through school and then with her partner - those who expect her to have blossomed from a ‘good’ girl to a ‘good’ woman, who then becomes a ‘good’ mother. In this episode of Thinking Reimagined, Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator), Ms. Vena Ramphal (Dancer Instructor, Author, Philosopher), Ms. Abi (Founder & Executive Director, PATISS) and Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ & Live Abundantly®️) place ‘The Good Girl Script' on the table of reason, dissect it and explain why it must to be torn up and discarded to ensure equity, inclusion and belonging in society and the workplace.

Listeners' Choice: Protection From Ransomware

Now, more than ever, we leave digital footprints everywhere, and we are more prone to cyber attacks especially as there is an increase in online activities post COVID. With ransomware attacks occurring every 11 seconds, there's now an urgent need for protection against threats to destroy or withhold a victim’s critical data unless a ransom is paid to an attacker who often deploys phishing emails, messages with suspicious links, codes or demands to change passwords. In this episode of Thinking Reimagined ®️, Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator), Nadim Chidac (Chief Operating Officer, coollink.ng), Peter Armand Boyo (Director, Actor, Filmmaker and Brand Ambassador) and Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ & Live Abundantly®️) highlight the precautions to take and how to identify exposure to ransomware, while avoiding spooky links, replicated website addresses, and pop-ups, as they confirm that securing our data is as important as securing our homes.

Resilience in a Changing World

Resilience in a Changing World

We live in a world where the rate of change is unprecedented and we are learning to adjust to the effects of the pandemic as well as civil unrest caused by political instability in different countries and wars, especially the Ukraine invasion. The rate of inflation and its effect on the rising cost of living is of much concern as are other factors not limited to global warming and the widening economic gap. Building resilience can provide coping skills and tools to mitigate the onset of anxiety, depression, isolation and other mental health disorders associated with trying to manage unforeseen situations prevalent in today's society. Resilience, as a word, has become part of our vocabulary since the pandemic, allowing us to evolve over time, particularly in times of uncertainty. It is like a good muscle we develop which comes with a sense of purpose, gratitude, tolerance, empathy and compassion. It is to be appreciated as a great support system and fuels the curiosity to be creative. Highlighting the tools you need to build your innate resilience, in order to thrive and Live Abundantly!®️, as well as those necessary for refining successes, this topic is passionately discussed by our discussants: Annelies Gentile MA, PCC (Coach, Speaker, Author, and Artist), Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ Live Abundantly!®️ & Thinking Reimagined®️, Chair, British Business Group, Nigeria and Global Ambassador, Savvitas-UK) and Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator).

The Societal Menace

The Societal Menace

Violence, particularly Gender Based Violence (GBV), is increasing at an alarming rate globally. Predominantly, the focus on GBV is on women (and girls) due to their disproportional exposure to rape and domestic violence. However, GBV covers a much broader spectrum which includes human trafficking, gender/sexual bias and discrimination, female genital mutilation and child marriage. Recently, the demonstrations in Iran depict girls taking off their hijab and cutting their hair in protest and unison for the biased treatment of women which led to the death of a young activist. In the U.S., the reversal of Roe versus Wade has placed the reproductive rights of woman at the forefront of discussion s from boardrooms to communities. Whilst the female gender continues to bear the brunt of indiscriminate assaults on women, particularly in Africa, we must acknowledge men also fall victim to abuse and due to societal and cultural biases and stereotypes suffer adversely like their female counterparts in silence. In this episode of Thinking Reimagined ®️, Benny Finisher (Performing and Creative Artist, who showcased an amazing new play, Menace, tells the stories of the violence against people including men), Peter Armand Boyo (Director, Actor, Filmmaker and Brand Ambassador), Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ Live Abundantly!®️ & Thinking Reimagined®️, Chair, British Business Group, Nigeria and Global Ambassador, Savvitas-UK) and Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator) discuss how to fix our broken patriarchal society which permits the Menace in society. They highlight the need to create awareness and advocacy for the elimination of the wonton violence, beginning in the school and community, and the need to push for gender parity as well as the importance of encouraging women to achieve more and to become decision makers negotiating for policies and educational programmes aimed at reducing the level of gender based violence.

Regeneration of Resources

Regeneration of Resources

We have altered the course of nature through our actions and disrespect of the planet. The earth is at a tipping point, the environment is polluted, cities are densely populated, resources are degraded and biodiversity is being disrupted to the point that the future of the planet as we know it is bleak. The daily calls to action by environmentalists and stakeholders with concerns related to climate change, urbanisation, pollution and deforestation to name a few, continue to highlight how irresponsible humanity has become in protecting and preserving our natural world. In the midst of an overwhelming amount of waste, the regeneration of resources has become inevitable for everyone. We must learn to live in unison with nature, adopt alternative ways of living which reduces our heavy reliance on natural resources, whilst trying to reduce our carbon footprint and turning interventions such as bioremediation to restore polluted lands and water. This episode of Thinking Reimagined ®️ invites Prince Kayode Oguntayo (Agripreneur and Director of Fowobi Farms Limited), Stanley Evans MBE (Deputy Chair, British Business Group- Nigeria and Environmentalist), Dr. Eucharia Nwaichi (Associate Professor, Environmental Biochemist, Vice Chair Organization for Women in Science in the Developing World, Nigeria), Akintunde Disu (Founder, PoP beach club, Environmentalist), Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ Live Abundantly!®️ & Thinking Reimagined®️ and Chair, British Business Group, Nigeria) and Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator) to examine ways to actionably address the climate change crisis through the conscious collective responsibility to educate and create greater Earth awareness through lifestyle changes and implementing and adhering to policies which mitigate the destruction of Mother Earth. Restoring humanity’s respect for the planet for the sustainability of future generations is, and must be, our priority.

Youth as Agents of Peace and Justice

Youth as Agents of Peace and Justice

The 20th of October 2020 is now largely regarded as an unforgettable day in Nigeria's history as it marks a key moment in a period which saw millions of youth across the country act as agents of peace and justice against police brutality, injustice and bad governance. Two years on from the Lekki Massacre that was unleashed on that fateful day, the status quo continues as questions still transpire as to the high price paid by the youth activists. Despite the dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Nigeria, youth…, the people continue to call for transparent leadership, justice for victims, clarity in tackling corruption as well as the long-awaited police reforms. This episode of Thinking Reimagined revisits a prior episode and Nifemi Oguntoye stirs up thought-provoking conversations between Ese Ayaebene (Counseling Psychologist), Bisi Alimi (Executive Coach, Public Speaker, International Development Consultant & Media Commentator), Hajara Tunde-Osho (PRO, NAPTIP Lagos Command), Babatunde Oguntimehin (Researcher, News Central TV), Victoria Clement (Teenage Advocate) & Moses Omoghena (Head of Marketing and Communications, Citiserve Ltd.) as they discuss the youth becoming more involved in political leadership and steps that should be taken towards ensuring that the dreams of a great nation become reality in the near future.

Menstrual Health & Wellbeing

Menstrual Health & Wellbeing

There are campaigns to hand out free condoms. Where are the campaigns to distribute free menstrual products? Every month, women and girls, globally, have to experience periods and all that comes with it (before, during and after) and only a handful of organisations and countries seem to realise the impact of a girl/woman’s menstrual cycle on her life and productivity. We live in a patriarchal society where the rights of women to access essentials for health and wellness, particularly for menstruating girls and women, are negated by the socio-cultural biases and taboos existent in many societies thereby limiting their participation in activities offered in the greater society. For many girls, their attendance and participation in school is limited during their menstrual cycle and this shows that gender inequity is in-built in a system of inequality. In this episode of Thinking Reimagined®️ Podcast, Dr. Enibokun Theresa Orobator (MD, MSc) (Medical Advisor, Global Public Health Physician and International Leadership Academy (ILA) member), Ngozi Ezi Ashi (Executive Director at Development Alternatives and Resource Center (DARC) and Trustee, Live Abundantly!®), Dr. Ama Onyerinma. Listeners' Choice: Positive Body Image

Social media with an estimated 3.5 billion users worldwide has become a major influencer in today’s global culture. The social networking platforms are filled with people presenting themselves in their altered and/or enhanced light, thereby creating false impressions which might cause some to have a negative body image and low self esteem. Body shaming is rampant and image issues, which affect women more than men, are further heightened. In the glossy world of media, poor body image and eating disorders are enforced by certain cultures and societal standards of beauty have had a detrimental effect on people’s mental health and well-being. Self-esteem and self-confidence largely depends on how you perceive yourself, how others view you and how you think others perceive you. You literally have to think about the whole umbrella of causes when talking about body image. In this episode of Thinking Reimagined, Nifemi Oguntoye (Moderator), Karina Karunwi (Wellness Expert & Project Manager), Peter Armand Boyo (Director, Actor, Filmmaker and Brand Ambassador) and Dr. Ama (Founder, Allied Empowerment®️ & Live Abundantly®️) shed some light on the importance of having a positive body image, the role of parenting, education and self-care in creating a culture which embraces inclusive, diverse positive body image.
