What the world needs is a.....

What the world needs is a.....

The 1970s were an exciting time to grow up in. I caught the tail end of one of the best eras to be alive in America. Vast changes in technology in the 1980s and 90s quickly robbed us. All the new gadgets were supposed to save us time, but we see where that has led us.

There was a time when everything shut down. Stores, Television, and Radio stations all had a curfew. Media shut down, and in return, America typically went to bed. That one thing we desperately need is time to rest.

What the world needs is a curfew.

If you are anything like me, well, then there are times when just being you frustrates you. Does that make sense? If it does, I think you will like this episode.

Four Daily Wins

We need four daily wins—spiritual, Physical, Financial, and Mental. Just small wins in these four areas of life will produce tremendous results. I borrowed this from Rev. Joseph Abshire and @tonymmcgrath

More Thrash Talk

More Thrash Talk

We ought to thrash the devil every time we win. But we don't. We are too lovely in the church these days. We must let him know every time we win and laugh and rub it in his face. As my little cousin Braxton Adcock said, "Winners Win!"

Late Gifts

Late Gifts

I received a late gift in the mail. It arrived three days after Christmas. The sender was very upset that it didn't get there on time. As I opened the box, I thought about how great it was to get another present. And I told myself, " Late gifts are the best gifts.'

You may be old but

You may be old but

I bought a 1955 Bulova watch in a thrift store. I thought I was buying just something to look at because it didn't appear to work at first. But after a few days of wearing it and taking the time to adjust the time, it has kept just as reliable time as the others in my collection.

The two age groups that enemy attacks the most is the young and old. The middle age folks are busy raising families, while the far ends have more time on their hands.

Happy birthday to my daddy on what would have been his 78th. I woke up and realized it was his birthday and to be honest, I am a little embarrassed that I didn’t realize it. But this episode is dedicated to him as I used one of my favorite childhood memories of him.

You're Not always As Good As You Appear

You're Not always As Good As You Appear

You're never as good as you would like to appear. In fact, there are times when a person can seem better than they really are, and in those times we can deceive ourselves and others.

We can sometimes seem worse than we really are, too. I am glad that God is the one who sees our hearts and ultimately judges us.

Airport Chase/Run with confidence

I was determined not to let them out of my sight. This was my thought as I ran through the Dallas Fort Worth airport. Trying to make a connecting flight to Salt Lake City, Utah. That was eight years ago, and I can't remember their names, but I remember how they ran confidently from one side of the airport to the other.

We all have a junk drawer somewhere in our home. It is a place we keep things we don't know what to do. Do I need this Popeys receipt from 2013? Well, I may do that. So, we keep it. And within a couple years, we have all sorts of stuff we don't know what to do with.

"Hope Dealer" Christian Troll

Internet trolls are as common as fleas on a dog. Now, I have never been trolled on social media often because my nature is to leave people alone. I don't have a big impressive vocabulary and can't type that fast.

The other reason is that I care about people's feelings and hate a bully.

A troll left a comment on one of my videos today, and I know precisely why it triggered me.

The St. Charles Cherry Pie Incident

Not every situation is meant to have a nice fairy tale ending. Sometimes that next level or paradigm shift isn't what we expect it to be. We chase dreams that never come true, and in the end, disappointment awaits.

So what can we learn from disappointment?

Laughter is powerful. A good belly laugh can totally change a person's day, and it has the power to transform an entire room. Laughter can also be used to hurt, which is never good. But another way laughter can be used is intimidation.

That's how the days work. Walker, my little boy, said to me, and it got me thinking a lot. Days work for us and against us. Time moves and waits for no one. We have a best friend called time; on the other hand, time is our enemy.

Its not always what you think.

Its not always what you think.

Art dominates my life. It always has. Much of the spiritual things I experience document the interaction between the natural and the man-made. Nature will always find a way to conquer man. And sometimes, I get an idea, which is what this podcast is about.

Predictable

When I was younger, I had a lot of moves when I played basketball. I would fake left and go right. A shot fake or a quick turn of my head. But now, not as much. I use the fastest and most energy-efficient move on the court. It's easy to become predictive in all areas of my life. Good and bad

Do your own homework.

Do your own homework.

Walker and I discussed homework this week and how important it is for him to do it. Nobody likes homework; my dad hated it when we had it. One day back when I was in fourth grade, I wanted to ride bikes, so my older brother and one of his friends offered to do it for me and let me play. What could go wrong?

Years ago, I was swept into a high-speed chase with my father. All I knew was that shots had been fired, and I was fledging art student by day and a shoe salesman by night. My dad was within two years of retirement but never hesitated.
