21st Century Thomism

In this episode we take a look t Matthew 16:13-20 and see how the theological, cultural, and religious context of ancient Israel deeply impacts our reading of the text. 

As an extension of the last episode, I clarify some thoughts and walk you through my personal application of Sabbath to my own busy life. 

Everywhere we turn, we hear voices telling us to love ourselves well. Our music, our entertainment, the people to which we look for guidance, all seem to have the same thing to say: you should love yourself. 

But are they right? Should we love ourselves? If we should, what does it mean to genuinely "love" ourselves? How can we love ourselves well? Is it to accept ourselves as we are? Recognize what we could be? Or perhaps something else altogether? 

That's exactly what I want to discuss in this episode of 21st Century Thomism.
