Ep. 123 Donna Shin: There comes a time in your life when you finally get it! Surviving Narcissistic Abuse and Coming Out The Other Side
Meet Donna Shin: a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and holistic wellness coach specializing in helping women recover from grief, trauma, and loss caused by narcissistic emotional abuse. Join Paulette and Donna for this deep dive into Narcissistic Marriage awareness, survival and recovery. Donna has been there and knows her stuff. She can help and her story will shine the light for so many. My Story When my second marriage began to unravel after I thought God gave me the love of my life – I was afraid, confused, and utterly lost. After becoming physically ill and heartbroken with the stress of, what I later understood to be, emotional abuse I finally broke free after years of trying to help us and change him. It was time to save myself and save my girls from losing their capable and up until then peaceful mom.I often felt dismissed, was left alone a lot and started to feel taken for granted and that I didn’t have a real partner. Trying to share with him what I was concerned about or feeling, in an attempt to relate, was consistently taken as criticism. This would bring the shaming, blaming or gaslighting — a term I didn’t even understand at the time, but became very familiar with. I questioned was I the crazy one here, but my gut told me I was not. I was up against too much and I was desperate for answers. It was maddening and felt like I Join Donna's Breakthrough group NOW! https://donnashinwellness.com/basic-breakthrough-group/

Are you struggling in your relationship(s), your marriage, or your single life? Lord knows I’ve been there. All my life I saw all my friends thrive while I struggled every day just to survive. Ep. 108 Anja Vasquez: Relationship Coach, Motherhood and Aerial Yoga!
Join Paulette and Anja for this candid conversation that digs deep into how relationships can thrive even in the most difficult of times.  Anja is a mother of 2, in an intercultural relationship empowering other hardworking mothers (as a relationship coach) to live a happier and more fulfilling life, full of passion love and understanding- balancing energy, work & family by discovering their inner goddess. Here is a little of her story!  I got married when I was only 23 years old. I did not belong to a certain culture or cult that obligated me to do that so early or anything nearly close to that, I was just a person who LOVED TO LOVE and always LOVED TOO MUCH. So when I fell in love with my, now ex-husband, it didn’t take us long to get married. Neither did it take us long to get divorced :), but I have to say all these things we all so often call mistakes and wrongs, shaped me into the person I am today. Would not change a thing about my past. Right after the first year of studying Chinese studies at my local university, I decided to move FAR AWAY FROM SLOVENIA, and try out China. I went there with a one-way plane ticket, and that definitely was a ride of my life. Not the plane ride of course. I ended up living there for over 3 years, where of course, I met my ex-husband and the stories I have to tell you about that period of my life – not enough time in this post … But imagine the freedom; alone on the other side of the world, studying, working and mainly partying. I tested my skills and morals, fell many times, learned a lot about myself – especially about my stubbornness … ending up in the 4-year long relationship, I knew from the start was doomed, but being stubborn as I am, and mainly wanting to show the world how strong I am, lost 4 years of my life on a most devastating, self-destructive way I couldn’t get myself out of, until … It was with a help of newly made friends that I finally found the RIGHT STRENGTH and started saying NO to the wrong things. After a year of a sad and unhappy marriage, I decided to get divorced. OMG, that felt good! People around me freaked out completely, as I was going mad, but nobody stopped and asked me to explain the sudden change of heart. It did not mean, I did not love him, OH LORD I DID – but I just knew this love will take me to the grave unless I CHANGE. At 24, divorced. Only a kid was missing and that would have really been an upsetting story. But thanks to God, I was still being protected a bit, not to screw myself up completely. Nevertheless, who would love a 24-year-old girl with an ex-husband in her hands already?! Well, that was just one of the fears going through my mind at that time – but here I am, with the BEST HUBBY I could have imagined, who of course IS my best friend, with our newly born son KIAN, happily living in the CARIBBEAN. I am here to tell you YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL. It won’t be easy, it won’t be fast, but it’s possible. Step by step. Curious about how to achieve the desired things? Ep. 103 Leila Parviz: How Does Being A Child Of Divorce Affect Your Future Calling?
Meet Leila! She spent a great deal of time recently thinking about why she does what she does. Listen here as she explains her story a bit. I guess it all started when I was very young, and my parents divorced. It was so painful. I was five (5), living in Iran at a time when divorce was still relatively rare. In Iran, children of divorce generally lived with their mother until they started school around age seven (7). Once they started school, primary custody transferred to the father and his family. In my case, for a variety of reasons, my father was granted primary custody of me and my younger sister well before either of us turned seven (7). This meant that we only saw our mom on weekends. During weekdays, we lived at our father’s home while our grandmother and aunt helped us with our education and daily well-being needs without any communication with our mom. I mostly remember this as a very difficult and sad time. I longed to see my mom but feared letting my family know how I felt. Speaking to my family about my pain and sadness was not an option. In hindsight, my parents no longer living together wasn’t nearly as bad as not being able to openly and freely love both of them. Visitation, phone calls, expressing joy about the other parent was stilted. Loyalties were always tested. Without a doubt, these tense times truly shaped me and my decision to want to help families in similar situations resolve and restructure their families in a better way. After attending college in Iran, I decided to move to the United States to pursue a legal career. I always knew my mission was to serve children and I knew a legal career in the U.S. would offer me the opportunity to use my dedication and commitment to help families. After a crash course in English (my native language is Farsi), I attended law school and passed the California State Bar in 2017. A few years into my legal career, the perfect career opportunity materialized at Family Peacemaker. I wake up every day joyfully knowing that I am a FAMILY PEACEMAKER! I help families peacefully transition and restructure for the benefit of generations to come. I personally know the pain of divorce and parental alienation and am committed to improving divorce outcomes. I look forward to using my life experience, skills, and heart to help your family experience a more hopeful and peaceful future. Ep. 102 Kim Korven: The Gentle Way is The Better Way: Be Curious Not Furious!
Want to be a divorce thriver?  It’s possible, even when you’re anxious and feel like a failure.  When Kim’s marriage wasn’t working, she was nearly overcome with anxiety. She did everything possible to avoid conflict with her spouse.  Like the good wife she was trying to be, she was staying married for the sake of her kids. And because she believed marriage was for life. It wasn’t working. She felt like a failure. For three years, she lived in limbo, with tension growing in her home. They hardly spoke. It was so bad that Kim thought a good solution would be if he died.  In other words: it was a nightmare, and Kim didn’t know what to do to make it better. Traditional divorce terrified her. She’d represented clients in family court, and knew all too well what divorce looked like through a lawyer’s eyes: high conflict, lots of drama, and big legal bills. She didn’t want her kids to suffer through traditional divorce. She didn’t want to fight for years, either. That would harm them.  Acting instinctively for the good of her kids, Kim created a healthier and more peaceful approach to divorce. Very soon after they separated, she stopped being angry all the time and felt relief. She began to experience joy. As they moved through the divorce process, there was no drama or big legal expenses. They communicated better and worked together to create fair results that continue to work for their family. Because of this approach to divorce, everyone in their family has thrived.  Even though she has two degrees in law (LLB & LLM), Kim’s no longer a practicing attorney. She dedicates herself to working with families as a mediator or consultant to help them communicate better, figure out what’s best for their family, and divorce peacefully. Kim lives in Regina, Saskatchewan with her two kids, second husband, retired rescue greyhounds and rescue cats.  Most recently, she and her former spouse have begun co-parenting a cat. What makes this remarkable is that he is allergic to cats. “Acting instinctively for the good of her kids, Kim created a healthier and more peaceful approach to divorce. Very soon after they separated, she stopped being angry all the time, and felt relief. She began to experience joy.”  Want to learn how to create these results for you and your kids? Ep. 100 Michelle Mitchell: The Brilliant Art of Parallel Parenting in High Conflict Divorce
Coach Michelle is a high conflict resolution coach, an attorney, and a badass single mom. She helps parents disengage from high conflict relationships, getting them out of court, and stepping back into their lives. Her unique combination as a certified Martha Beck life coach, a lawyer for almost 20 years, her field of study in Psychology, and her own personal family law experience, makes Michelle a well-rounded coach, capable of helping parents learn how to disengage from a challenging and protracted co-parenting relationship. Topics Michelle and Paulette discuss in today's episode:  • The fastest way to get out of family court and step back into your life is to disengage from the conflict. • It only takes one parent to disengage. • Disengaging from the conflict does NOT mean letting go of your reasonable boundaries. • When you’re forced to go to court, it is vital that you prepare yourself to disengage from the conflict. • In family court, there’s really no such thing as “winning”. • You can’t move forward with living your best life if you’re stuck in the trenches in family court. Michelle was the first person in her family to go to college or graduate school, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Philosophy, as well as her Juris Doctorate. • She has always been passionate about helping people overcome life’s obstacles, and re-inventing themselves. • Michelle was raising her son as a single mom when she was 38, and she chose to have a second child on her own at 40. Parenting her two kids and raising them to appreciate the importance of social justice and equality is what she is most proud of. Ep. 94 Vicki Vollweiller: How Divorce Effects Your Ability to Pay for College and Receiving Financial Aid
College Financial Prep was founded by Vicki Vollweiler, who holds her Master's Degree in Business Administration and has focused the bulk of her career on analysis, pricing, return on investment and business negotiations. Vicki's MBA degree comes from Syracuse University where she attended on a "Full Free Ride + Stipend!" So Why College Financial Prep?  It all started with Vicki's own personal story.  "I was a Divorce Coach who helped people attain goals, specifically with regards to their personal finances.  As clients started to ask me how they were going to afford the cost of college, my own son was approaching high school and I certainly wanted the best for my son!   As a divorced mom, I knew that I wanted to spend the least amount of money necessary to ensure, both, his success and happiness while allowing me to maintain my bank account and not go into debt. I know that we all want the absolute best for our children, especially, when preparing for college.  The key is to be informed, strategic and detail oriented so that you can maximize savings on the cost of college.  If you're unsure how to proceed, don't potentially lose thousands and thousands of dollars. College Financial Prep was created to guide families through the maze of college financial aid. " It is College Financial Prep's work with families of various sizes and means that has led Vicki to apply her analytical and coaching skills to  those with children planning for attendance at college, whether on a tight budget, or with a desire to acquire maximum scholarship dollars to reduce college costs.  As each child and their family has a different idea as to what their ideal college fit is, College Financial Prep works with clients to strategize and meet goals!  All discussions are private and confidential.   College Financial Prep: 1. Locates Need based and Merit based scholarship opportunities prior to submitting college applications. 2. Advises as to which schools children should apply to for strategic purposes in the hopes of maximizing scholarship dollars for college. 3. Understands the complexities of separation and divorce scenarios and finds the opportunities for saving money. 4. Aids in preparation and submission off all financial aid forms. 5. Files appeals due to extenuating circumstances.  6. Analyzes financial awards and negotiates as needed with individual colleges. 7. Advises on student loan acquisition to minimize debt incurred. 8. Works with parents to repair credit.

From Danusia Malina-Derben, mother of 10, entrepreneur, thought leader, and critically acclaimed podcast host - this is a long-awaited, no-holds-barred book on why our current thinking about modern motherhood is overdue a radical overhaul.  On the one hand, this book is about being a mother, but it's also about how, once we become mothers, we're not allowed to be ourselves. NOISE is a powerful dismantling of the barriers and central tenets that hold women back.  This manifesto was built to start a conversation; it's a call-to-arms to get ideas flowing through our communities, and an invitation to think differently about what we're repeatedly told about motherhood. An intimate, bold blend of memoir, thought-leadership and research, Danusia provocatively reframes the NOISE around motherhood and repositions mothers as the social change agents our world desperately needs. “A debrief on motherhood for today” The Telegraph "Danusia makes motherhood political - giving tangible steps to help shift our societal views on motherhood and make a change.” Eve Rodsky, author of NYT Bestseller Fair Play “It is a beautiful thing when a book about motherhood is about people; about remembering that mothers are people in their own right. I think we so often forget that. This is a soothing slap in the face reminder.” Hollie McNish, author of Nobody Told Me & Slug Triumph Press: https://www.triumphpress.co/books/p/noise Available for purchase at (amongst others): Amazon UK — Foyles

Ep. 82 Keli Hazel: CPA and Author of Unforeseen Exit
Keli and Paulette share together the fears women have when they are about to embark on the process and journey of divorce. Here is a bit of Keli's background and why she is so well equipped to be the one to educate and empower women in all stages of financial needs. I am a Financial Planner and CPA with an entrepreneurial background and a passion for helping people achieve their financial objectives. As a licensed Registered Representative and CPA, I bring a tax-efficient approach to my clients’ financial circumstances. And as a small business owner, I recognize the value of innovative approaches to financial freedom. My decades of accounting experience and my entrepreneurial spirit have formed my philosophy - providing my clients with smart choices that will help them create a secure future. Background I obtained my BS Degree in Accounting from Florida State University in 1988. I then worked for Arthur Andersen until I took a position as a financial analyst at McDonald’s Corporation’s Regional Accounting Center in Clearwater, Florida. I ultimately became Regional Accounting Supervisor and was then promoted to Assistant Controller in the Atlanta office. When my three boys were young, I spent a few years at home to devote my time and energy to their early development. When those initial demands settled, I was looking for a way to fulfill my passions and return to the workforce. I wanted an opportunity that would allow me to help people and make a difference in their
