I share a portion of my personal story which is contained in chapter 3 of my upcoming book, The Identity Process.
I will only share a port of that story In this episode and I will also use the help of a few song clips to portray the greater story of the human journey that is evident in every persons life story.
The first song clip you will hear is “You Don’t Know How Beautiful You Are” by Jon Foreman. It is the song of a lover to the beloved and is about the masks we learn to wear as we grow up in this world because of the pain we endure. The song is about the desire to know who we really are and how, while we can see the beauty in others, are ultimately searching for our own. I sing this song as proclamation of my own life journey and how, for so long, I could not see how beautiful I was. I see that this is the same journey you are on as well.
The link to the full song will be available in the description.

The second song clip you are now going to hear is “Learning How to Die” by Jon Foreman. https://youtu.be/6rZ8w1QSlXY
Though we resist change, the seeming end of things, and have believed our life is about laughing and getting as much as we can out of life, we are really here to learn how to become warriors of our own lives. That, in some way, shape, or form is about learning how to die, even while we are breathing. When we become the masters of this art, the art of living to die, enjoying life with this in mind, taking no moment for granted, we can begin to understand what it means to conquer the grave- more than physical death, it is the death of our attachments, desires, and emotional bonds that keep us from truly living.
Additionally, we discuss how adversity is the path to truly living; that true leadership is about knowing how to be vulnerable and being willing to go first into the most uncomfortable places or situations so there is a path for others to follow.
This is the final song, “Restless” by Switchfoot. https://youtu.be/GFJMGWuhSDM
A true longing for belonging and a sense of home was the cry of my soul for a very long time. What I was looking for was with and within me the whole time. That was the true me, which is always connected to and one with The One and Only True Self That many call “God”. The search for who we are, where we come from, what we are here to do, and where we are headed is the human search, the purpose and reason behind every purpose and reason. Keep listening to this podcast, be ready to visit with me and others virtually, and in upcoming retreats and workshops. You’ll find the answer. That answer is totally wrapped up in the peace and love this community of humans, on earth, is searching for.
One of my favorite quotes from this episode is: “I was parched for the one connection that matters most because it fuels all connection. What I was searching for was with me all this time- light, strength, peace, hope, love, trust, purpose, wisdom, abundance, life; Everything I ever imagined I wanted or needed. I now know who I am and what I am here to do. I know where I came from and where I am going. It is your birthright to know the same and that is why I share this story with you.
