Those who fail to recognize my true nature aka their true nature must be reborn
“Whatever I am offered in devotion with a pure heart – a leaf, a flower, fruit, or water – I accept with joy. 27 Whatever you do, make it an offering to me – the food you eat, the sacrifices you make, the help you give, even your suffering. 28 In this way you will be freed from the bondage of karma, and from its results both pleasant and painful. Then, firm in renunciation and yoga, with your heart free, you will come to me.”
It’s not about being a believer or about following dogma
It’s about embodying the energy and character of love - the vehicle is devotion - and the essence - the Love - that is Krishna - Christ Consciousness - call it what you will - the meaning of life
Devoted in this way - one will never truly be harmed
“All those who take refuge in me, whatever their birth, race, sex, or caste, will attain the supreme goal; this realization can be attained even by those whom society scorns. 33 Kings and sages too seek this goal with devotion. Therefore, having been born in this transient and forlorn world, give all your love to me. 34 Fill your mind with me; love me; serve me; worship me always. Seeking me in your heart, you will at last be united with me.”

Bhagavad Gita Chapter 5 with Tiaga Prem
TATTVAS Level 1 Complete in Salt Spring Island. tiagaprem@tiagaprem.com to Register.
Episode Synopsis:
Arjuna asks - which is better selfless action or renunciation (sannyasa)?
Both lead to the goal but action is better
Sannyasa - works but Krishna prefers Selfless service
“The immature think that knowledge and action are different, but the wise see them as the same.”
“The goal of knowledge and the goal of service are the same; those who fail to see this are blind”
Sankhya and Yoga - here in the Gita - theory and practice
“When there is no selfish involvement in work, the worker does not come to spiritual harm”
“Krishna warns Arjuna that a life of work, even successful work, cannot be fulfilling without Self-knowledge. Ultimately, the true Self within him is not affected by what he does, whether good or bad. Only knowledge of the Self, which rises like the sun at dawn, can fulfill the purpose of his life and lead him beyond rebirth.”
Selfless service is how you avoid taking on karmas
Ishvara Pranidhana - Give every action to God.
Equal vision - Atman and Brahman
Knowledge of God and Self - merging
“15 The Lord does not partake in the good and evil deeds of any person; judgment is clouded when wisdom is obscured by ignorance. 16 But ignorance is destroyed by knowledge of the Self within.”
“The last three verses of the chapter describe a state of profound meditation called samadhi. When meditation becomes very deep, breathing becomes slow, steady, and even, and the windows of the senses close to all outward sensations. Next the faculties of the mind quiet down, resting from their usually frantic activity; even the primal emotions of desire, fear, and anger subside. When all these sensory and emotional tides have ceased to flow, then the spirit is free, mukta – at least for the time being. It has entered the state called samadhi.”
The experience of Unity or Sameness
“27 Closing their eyes, steadying their breathing, and focusing their attention on the center of spiritual consciousness, 28 the wise master their senses, mind, and intellect through meditation. Self-realization is their only goal. Freed from selfish desire, fear, and anger, they live in freedom always. 29 Knowing me as the friend of all creatures, the Lord of the universe, the end of all offerings and all spiritual disciplines, they attain eternal peace.”

show notes:
Krishna is eager to grant Arjuna knowledge of self or even a spiritual vision but Arjuna has been asking get me out of this mess - prayer life - have you experienced this kind of “spirituality”
Krishna teaches him about rebirth and talks about how he has reincarnated to help humanity when dharma declines - many times
- forgetting who you are - primordial cause of disease verse 6-7
Vishnu - avatar - preserver of life - not mentioned
The part in each of us that seeks to care for the whole
You can experience this part in all by means of devotion
The Self in All Verse 10,11
“Actions do not cling to me because I am not attached to their results,” he means, “Arjuna, actions do not cling to your real Self.” The Self in us is not touched by action; whatever we do, it remains unsullied. “Those who understand this” – about themselves – “and practice it live in freedom.””
Verse 19-21 - Anxiety, Action, and Devotion
Compassion for all - comes through devotion The Beloved in All.
True sustenance is service
Verse 31
Guidance of the wise verse 34 And all have access 36
Lastly, he speaks to Arjuna about working through doubt. Arjuna has not surrendered. Continues to drag his feet. But Krishna does not abandon him.
“You and I have passed through many births, Arjuna. You have forgotten, but I remember them all“ Verse 3
The Self is with you always God is with you always Rise in Faith! Practice Yoga! Read 39-41
