Quiet Crickets

By Tim Dubitsky

When my fiancée (Tobias Wong) passed away 10 years ago, I promised myself that in 10 years I'd be living my best life and celebrating his. I never imagined spending it as a starving without daylight in a foreign country.

A lie told by an ex took a life of its own and has now stripped me of my life as a I know it for the second time in twelve months. I'm about to be homeless and peso-less as the result of a failed extortion attempt made by witches/amigas during the height of the CDMX pandemic.

2/ Happy Anniversaries

I celebrate the 10th anniversary of the passing of my fianceé prioritizing logistics for an eviction rooted in a lie told a year ago almost to the day. Threatened with a forced eviction by a former friend-cum-sublessor, all I can think about is; into what dish do they imagine I would cook their cats?

Check out the accompanying post here.

What began as an animation short to keep me occupied during the still ongoing in-house battle for basic necessities, I found this format to be better suited to the rapidly evolving ordeal as it horridly morphed into the human rights issue commentary that it feels it has become.

The unscripted stream of consciousness guides while you join me on my daily midnight walk while I hunt down the last blooming jacaranda in Mexico City (that I know of) and begin to lay the foundation of the bizarre year that led to the surreal circumstances that will come to some conclusion on June 25, 2020.
