New Moon in Bharaṇī
The New Moon on May 8 marks the start of a new lunar month in Aries, symbolizing major new beginnings. Both the Sun and Moon are exalted for a couple of days after this New Moon, enhancing their more benevelont influences. This period signals a powerful new phase, suggesting a positive start is on the horizon.
An Aries New Moon encourages proactive steps forward in personal endeavors. Venus' conjunction prioritizes personal needs possibly at the expense of relationships. This self-centric approach could reflect broader societal shifts as well. Yet if you wish to start something new in your life, you're going to have to focus on what you want.
The Bharaṇī New Moon is a period for initiating new ventures with the awareness that all beginnings must end at some point. Bharaṇī’s influence calls for commitment and discipline to nurture these new beginnings in a more focused and deliberate way.
Rahu in Taurus with Kishori
Our last in this particular series looking at Rahu's placement in each sign of the zodiac. This one's all about Rahu in the most sensual and enjoyable sign, Taurus.
Listen to Kishori speak about the difference between "desire as allowing and desire as grasping", as we climax with our "beloved opponent."
Full Moon in Svātī
During this Full Moon in the Svātī lunar mansion and Libra, opposite an exalted Sun in Aries, we're experiencing a significant moment of resolution and reflection. This marks a culmination point following the recent eclipse, as well as the Mars-Saturn and the Jupiter-Uranus conjunctions. These heavenly events have stirred considerable changes, setting the stage for unexpected developments.
A Full Moon in Libra may be a brief window for peace, particularly as Venus is now at its exaltation degree, yet as Venus quickly moves into Aries, where we find ourselves in a dynamic, and war-like, phase again.
Svātī, meaning 'independent one,' emphasizes our unique paths and the importance of recognizing our differences to us foster connection. If we're not connected to our unique path, we cannot connect with others authentically. Svātī's symbols, a young sprout in the wind and a sword, highlight the necessity of sometimes diverging from the norm to find our balance.
This is a pivotal time for introspection and forging meaningful connections, reminding us that while it’s challenging to maintain peace during turmoil, sometimes shaking things up is essential for achieving balance once again.
New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Revatī
During this total solar eclipse, an exceptional celestial alignment occurs with all visible planets arranging themselves in Pisces or its adjacent signs, forming what is known in Vedic astrology as a shula yoga. This event coincides with the start of the Lunar New Year, named Krodhi, which translates to 'angry'.
Interestingly, both the concept of the Krodhi year and the shula yoga alignment underscore themes of anger. Yet, the philosophy around anger is nuanced, suggesting that while unchecked anger can lead to negative outcomes ('bad anger'), when directed towards just causes, it can be transformative ('good anger').
Pisces, the sign central to these events, embodies duality, encouraging the acceptance of complex emotions to achieve inner peace. Essentially, the situation underscores the philosophy of taking things as they come, recognizing that acceptance is a step toward tranquility.
The eclipse happens in the Revatī lunar mansion, which symbolizes completion and readiness for new beginnings. Revatī, meaning 'abundant', is associated with prosperity, spiritual growth, and the transition from one life phase to the next. Its guardian deity is seen as a shepherd guiding souls, reflecting themes of protection, guidance, and the journey towards self-realization.
Full Moon in Hasta (Lunar Eclipse)
This Full Moon and partial eclipse in Hasta lunar mansion within sidereal Virgo leads to heightened emotions as we approach the intense solar eclipse on April 8. Despite some unfavourable qualities associated with an eclipse, with the usual precautions being advised, there is great potential to create something new, but only when we can let go of something (Ketu eclipse).
Although eclipses typically suggest caution in starting new ventures, this overall period encourages productivity and manifestation. All that’s needed is a large amount of flexibility regarding outcomes. With Mercury (the Moon's ruler) at the precarious edge of Pisces, an open-minded approach is best as something ends and something new begins.
Despite the inherent uncertainty of the eclipse, it’s a time for engaging in rituals and setting intentions, provided we remain adaptable throughout.
Rahu in Gemini with Kishori
The penultimate episode in our Maps of Consciousness series is at hand as we explore Rahu in Gemini, the most desirous and playful sign.
It's time to choose ...
New Moon in Pūrva Bhādrapada
The New Moon aligns with Saturn and is flanked by an exalted Mars in Capricorn and Rahu in Pisces. The tension that is possible can be harnessed positively, to concentrate your willpower on a specific goal. Saturn's influence brings perseverance, aiding significant achievements if intentions are clear.
The New Moon in Pūrva Bhādrapada lunar mansion symbolizes purification and insight, encouraged by the reflection and discernment that is likely at this time.
Pūrva Bhādrapada is associated with transformative experiences that bring out the truth, soemtimes, with sudden realizations. It's symbolism includes a two-faced man, a sword, and the front legs of a funeral cot, all reflecting themes of getting to the truth of our existence. Big themes of life and death are emphasized.
This New Moon marks a critical juncture, propelling us into new, uncharted territories for the upoming eclipses.
Full Moon in Maghā
The Full Moon in Maghā lunar mansion within sidereal Leo symbolizes ancestral power and entitlement. And while this period might enhance feelings of pride and privilege, this must be balanced with the Sun's conjunction with Saturn in Aquarius, emphasizing the need for humility.
Despite Leo's typical association with enjoyment, Saturn's conjunction with the Sun discourages bold statements or expressions of wealth and power.
Maghā is ruled by the forefathers, connecting it to the spiritual realms, when we can give thanks to those who have gone before us, so they can open up doors ahead of us.
Rahu in Cancer with Kishori
Kishori joins me to discuss Rahu in Cancer, where even our "illuminating dark lord" shines a light on our heart's desires.
With our hands on our hearts ...
New Moon in Dhaniṣṭhā
The New Moon acts as a catalyst for the Mars-Pluto conjunction, intensifying our subconscious drives. These drives may manifest in ways that seem inappropriate to others, but could be what is needed. Mars symbolizes our instinct to defend against threats, while Pluto deepens this instinct, often concealing our true motivations.
This period occurs under the influence of the Dhaniṣṭhā lunar mansion, a position where Mars is particularly strong. Dhaniṣṭhā, meaning "wealthy," signifies abundance in all forms, not just financial. It is governed by the elemental demigods of nature and the cosmos, including the polestar, sky, wind, water, earth, pre-dawn, fire, and the Moon. This reflects the idea that true wealth encompasses all areas of life.
Dhaniṣṭhā is represented by a drum and flute, symbols connecting it to music, rhythm, and sound, suggesting that the Moon's transit through Dhaniṣṭhā is an auspicious time for music, dance, and ceremonies.
The New Moon's position in Dhaniṣṭhā, combined with the Mars-Pluto conjunction, marks a moment for making bold declarations. Expressing these declarations aloud may bring clarity and insight into your intentions and desires.
Full Moon in Puṣya
This Full Moon marks a period of resolution for the big ideas and ideals begun around the New Moon on Jan 11. This is when these ideas seek fulfilment in a practical way with the Sun in Capricorn, as we find more of a work-life balance with the Moon opposite in Cancer.
The Full Moon in Puṣya lunar mansion (Cancer), symbolized by a cow's udder, underscores themes of nourishment and growth. But what thoughts are you nurturing?
This highlights the importance of a balance between worldly ambitions (Capricorn) and connecting to your heart’s desires (Cancer). While it's not balanced to avoid your feelings to fulfill your ambitions, neither is it balanced to only think about how you feel and never do what you know you probably should.
This Full Moon is a reminder about what you should do but also how essential it is to nurture yourself while you do it.
2024 Preview
A sneak peek into the year ahead, including Uranus' ingress into Taurus alongside Jupiter, as Mars triggers all the slower moving planets and bigger themes in the more immediate timeframe.
2024 will see big changes that are more easily implemented. This is largely due to Uranus moving into a trine to Pluto, after holding a stalemate in the square to Pluto since 2020.
Rahu in Leo with Kishori
Kishori joins me for our Maps of Consciousness series, exploring Rahu and the heart of the matter in Leo, the majesty and power of this 'regal' sign.
Rahu in Virgo with Kishori
Jeanette 'Kishori' McKenzie joins me to continue our Maps of Consciousness series and a journey through the signs of the zodiac with Rahu, our "beloved opponent." In this episode, we explore the precision that is possible with Rahu in Virgo, while allowing every little thing to be just as it is.
Can we outwit the stars?
Absolutely, yes - and no. One of the first things you may ask when you see your life mapped out in an ‘astrology timeline’ is: “Do I have free will to choose?” Well, you cannot choose the weather, can you? Or how the tides turn? You may not even have a choice in how you react to what is unfolding. But you can view it from a different perspective. With a cosmic view, you can change how you see your life. And this may be all that’s needed to change its trajectory.
Rahu in Libra with Kishori
Kishori joins me to discuss the impact of Rahu, our "beloved opponent", on the sign of the apparent opponent, the other that is Libra.
Gratitude with Jupiter AND Saturn
Most give thanks with Jupiter, and complain about not getting enough with Saturn. In this episode, I highlight an important distinction between these planets, and how to be grateful - even with Saturn.
Rahu in Scorpio with Kishori
Kishori joins me to continue our Maps of Consciousness series with a conversation about our "illuminating dark lord" Rahu in Scorpio. We uncover some hidden things in Scorpio, with Kishori offering a much-needed counterbalance to the predominant narrative about Rahu in its sign of debilitation.
Rahu in Sagittarius with Kishori
Kishori joins me to discuss Rahu in Sagittarius, the sign of knowledge and truth. We explore the word 'hope' as an "unword", which only offers something we never reach, instead of realising we must embody what we already are.
2023 Vedic Astrology Forecast
Every year brings its challenges and rewards. Some years bring more challenges, and more rewards. 2023 is one of those years, it seems.
War, natural disasters, an energy crisis, and major economic adjustment–possibly even a major stock market crash after further inflation–it’s all happening! But what is also happening is Saturn is moving from its conjunction with Pluto. This has reflected a particularly challenging period since the beginning of 2020.
Things are likely to progress in 2023 in ways 2020, 2021 and 2022 could not. The downside is that to move forward, many systems we hoped would return to normal must fall away completely, including the current economic one. And yet, new systems cannot replace the old one overnight.

Rahu in Capricorn with Kishori
Kishori joins me to continue our Maps of Consciousness series, as we discuss Rahu in Capricorn. She talks about how we can be "grounded yet light as a feather"; how we can use Rahu in Capricorn to be very precise, to give something definition, as opposed to feeling Saturn as only restriction or limitation.
Rahu and the Pursuit of ...
... fill in the blank.
As I come to the end of my 18-year period of Rahu, I have some personal insights and helpful tips and tricks to share about our "beloved opponent", including a more recent revelation: When we reach a goal, we have a problem because we need something to strive for with Rahu. This is why Rahu also represents blocks; we end up sabotaging the very thing we want, just so we can pursue it again!
Rahu in Aquarius with Kishori
We continue to shape shift through the signs with Kishori joining me once again for our Maps of Consciousness series. This time, we explore Rahu in Aquarius. We look at how the "beloved opponent" can open things up for us individually, and for all of humanity. Rikki Blythe joins me to discuss her new book The nth Degree, which explains exactly why both work and how we can use astrology in a more encompassing way. Sidereal and Tropical zodiac systems tell different parts of the same story - and that same story is the bigger picture of astrology. The nth Degree honours this divine tool, taking astrology into the coming age.

Rahu in the Seventh House
Kishori joins me to talk about the challenges and possibilities of meeting with the 'radiant lord of darkness' Rahu, in whatever form it appears. Jupiter expands and connects us to one another, and to our communities, offering us more hope in being able to get together - in whatever form that may take - but it also represents some complexities, some of which are addressed in this podcast.

The Song of Rahu has been transformational for those at crucial turning points in their lives, a poignant reminder to shift perception, and harness what seems to be ‘unwanted’. It is like rocket fuel, to propel us to the next great state. Once we embrace this whole-heartedly as if steering into the skid, we let go and allow the transformation, knowing that all is well.
