Phenyo Mabokela is so passionate about the homeless. Find out why and his mission to change this....
They have many names
Street kids, The homeless, Beggars...
Who are these nameless, voiceless people who are often a nuisance to us or so we think....
Let me ask you have you even bothered to ask one their name? Or even sought to know what they need?
In this insightful conversation, Phenyo takes us behind the scenes, tells us the names of some of the friends on the streets or as he calls them the "homeless community"
You'll hear about Corin and his twin brother and their story, in Bramfonten Johannesburg....
personally learnt a lot of that community and strongly felt connected to Phenyos mission of bringing dignity to this community and the elimination of homelessness in our generation
It is a worthwhile mission indeed that we can all rally around, it is one that I have felt I would to learn more about and seek to support.
In this episode I speak with Phenyo Mabokela,
as he shares his passion and mission for the homeless community -
I don't like referring to them as homeless people, they are simply people....
Says Phenyo....
Phenyo has so many accolades at such a young age,
What I care about he says is creating positive change....
Listen in and be challenged in our conversation.

In this episode I speak to Audrey, Chief Happiness Officer and Founder at Harpie HR, a recruitment and HR Consulting business based out of Nairobi that was borne out of her many career moves and stints of more than a decade in the world of work in Kenya.

In this episode, Audrey shares her career journey as she made a changeover from IT to pursuing a degree in Public Relations at Daystar University and later on an MBA in Human Resources from United States International University (USIU) and a finally a Higher National Diploma.

Audrey's journey is as epic as it is full of pivotal career lessons as it is indeed an unbeaten path that many will resonate with especially in such a time as now full of uncertainty and the need to redefine oneself and make career moves as needed.

Catch up with Renata, Self Defense Instructor & Coach Talking De-escalation and Life Saving Tips....
In this episode I speak to Renata, personal self defense instructor and coach.
I learnt so much about the back story of my coach, as she and I attended a life coaching class a few years ago..
In our chat she shares about her combat sports past, lessons learnt from an injury that ended her sporting and competitive pursuit and how that has led her to her current endeavor and mission. She also shares what she calls a stupid move that could have turned fatal for her and family, yet her stupid move saved her life...then. And yes how she once used diplomacy and de-escalation techniques to fend off an attacker who had entered their house.
FYI this was the second incident of being accosted in her home with a gun totting attacker...
I call her a Ninja and Blackbelt..... Yes I saw her fully kitted, training men and women in self defense as one of the ways to combat Gender Based Violence... This is an initiative she's committed to and has been running bootcamps at National level....
This is one of those awe striking inspiring conversations with a friend who's tough minded as she's sweet... Listen in and be inspired by practical insights on how to react or de-escalate situations in times like if crisis.
As she says
"the decisions you choose in those split seconds are the most crucial and could define the rest of your life"

In Conversation with Dr Annette, Researcher and Conservationist: On Women's Monuments and more..
In this episode I speak to Dr Annette, Researcher, Criminologist and Conservationist...
As we talk about her work in conservation as well as her involvements with communities.
Dr Annette is passionate about Research with a view to influence policy at a National level and beyond.
To get to grip with the needs of communities, her work entails a huge community engagement aspect, something that she finds great fulfillment in.
The genesis to our conversation was a tweet that Dr Annette posted, a labor of love as she calls it, detailing women Monuments in South Africa. This caught my attention and thought it a worthwhile topic of discussion especially in the continued endeavor to ensure a more equitable and representative society that acknowledges the historical contributions of women in society. It is also a worthwhile point of reflection as part of women's month in South Africa.
Listen in to some of the fascinating insights from that labor of love as Dr Annette shares. We also touch on some of her other work and interests including a writing project she's been busy with, her wishful dream as a small scale farmer and what it takes to be a researcher for those who would be curious to know.

Catching up with Loide : Film Maker, Creative Director and Minister on Identity, Dreams and more...
In this episode I speak to Loide - Film maker, Creative Director and Creative Minister and most definitely a Faith Builder and Force for Good who's been recognized as a Champion and Trailblazer and awarded the Global Impact Award 2019 as a Women's Advocate.
In our recollections, Loide and I had a conversation a few years at a bootcamp as she was just about to embark on a whirlwind endeavor that has taken her around the world and connected her with her purpose. Among her most significant undertakings is 'Our Likeness', a Multi-Country Documentary Project on Identity that she's been Researching, Filming and Producing. In our conversation we talk about how this came to be.
She also shares so many faith firming perspectives from her growing up and what she's learned along the way.
This is a Faith building episode that will challenge and inspire you to connect with your identity and purpose and seek to step out and live boldly.

In Conversation with Phila: Mentor, TEDX Speaker and ICT Professional on being the underdog & more..
In this episode I connect with Phila, Public Speaker and MC, Mentor and ICT Professional. Phila has had to overcome lots of odds to be where he is at today. As a 26 year old young man, he is passionate about empowering young people through Mentorship and has made great strides in his journey and in 2016, delivered a highly acclaimed Tedx Talk, Titled my brother's keeper. In our conversation Phila shares his journey growing up, including having to drop out of school because of financial difficulties, we talk about his thoughts and why he gave the talk, we also talk about the scourge of Gender Based Violence in South Africa where Phila shares his first hand experience growing up and thoughts on the way forward.
A big take away is the success habits that have helped him come thus far..... Also hear about his ambitions and what he seeks to represent what he calls 'The African Dream..' which must exist..
This is definitely a young man to watch.
So pragmatic, level headed and one who isn't afraid of a challenge..... A worthwhile listen.
You'll thoroughly be inspired...

Open X Weekly : No Words... By Dee Banks
This weeks Open Xpression is from Dee, Author, Daydreamer and founding member of The Timitude Writer Family. Enjoy this beautiful piece titled - No words. And show her some love as you sample this beautiful poem...
Enjoy....
-------------No words-------
He stares at me
Sincere eyes boring a deep hole in my eyes
I stare back
Intensely too
I can see in those eyes
No, deeper still
Farther down I peek
They’re drawing me in now
Farther than I’d planned to go
Deeper I’m drawn
Past the eusophagus
The wind pipes are numb
Words stuck
For even words
Would cause nothing but utter ruin
To such expression so beautiful
Deeper still I’m drawn
Blood veins shiver
Flow now uncontrollable
Nothing like this I’ve seen
Or felt or experienced
An inevitable eruption
A death sentence for sure
This is past normal
But deeper still
Past the throbbing of the heart
Which now beats faster than a million a nano second
I shudder
Deeper still
I see it
It reaches out
I feel it now
It’s o, so beautiful
Never a thing so pure exists
his soul, all of it
Pure, gentle, harmless
They have so much
So much to say
Yet no words
Not like anything ever seen
Nor heard nor experienced
I’m numb
Crippled with ...
No, not with fear
Emotions like this knows no such words
I struggle free
Faster than the speed of light
I’m back
Staring, panting
Moving lips
I hear words
No sound
Then a whisper
No, it’s my ears
They’re playing tricks on me
‘I’ll give up forever
To love you still’
I believe him
Well I would
If only forever was his to give
I smile
I touch his eyes,
Then his lips
Teardrops
No words
I turn my back
And say those words still
‘Goodbye’
Clashing sound
Ashes
No words
Enjoy....
