I am speaking to Dr. Ledivia Strauss today about her passion for optimal health as well as her own journey
Dr. Ledivia Strauss is a general practitioner with a special interest in functional, integrative, and aesthetic medicine. After completing her MBChB (Medical) degree at the University of Stellenbosch in 2004, she completed her post-graduate diploma in anaesthesiology in 2007.
Dr. Ledivia believes in helping people get to the root of their medical concerns and not merely masking symptoms. She has a passion for educating and empowering her patients with the knowledge and tools they need to become the healthiest they can be. Her greatest interest lies in the areas of healthy weight management, detoxification, gut healing, and metabolic and hormonal health.
Her studying continues as she strives to keep up to date with this ever-evolving field of medicine.

Day 9 - we are talking about beauty today!

Yes, being overweight can be the nr 1 crusher of self-esteem! Losing just a bit can fix all that!

So when you have a lot to lose you might be a little concerned about sagging skin. Today we offer a solution to that!

Firstly we have to understand that tackling this issue needs to be on the spirit, soul, and body level.

On the spirit level, we have to stop believing the lies that we are not beautiful, that we are fat, that we are ugly, that we are not good enough, that we are.... fill in the blanc... Anything that brings about any negative emotion about ourselves.

On the soul level, we have to start speaking positive affirmations about ourselves, canceling the lies and replacing them with the truth. We need to come into a place of self-love and self-acceptance before we can attempt anything in the form of a healthy lifestyle. We also have to start eliminating the people in our lives that are putting us down, and not lifting us up.

And on the body level, we need to take in the right nutritional food, exercise regularly, and get a little sunshine and fresh air regularly.

Day 8 and we are learning all about bone marrow and the amazing benefits of chicken soup 🥣


It is not just for sick people... Yes, you read right. Bone broth is for everyone, and regular intake gives you an edge to a healthy immune system. Most minerals that come out of the bones are what we need to help our body fight infections.


Buying whole chicken and cooking up the chicken carcass to make chicken soup should be a regular habit to grow a strong immune system.

If soup is not your thing, try to freeze some of the liquid and put it in your smoothies as ice cubes. Ince or 2 cubes can also be dissolved into your scrambled eggs or other dishes that need a little liquid.

Day 6 - Today we talk about supplements 💊

There is a lot of controversy about supplements, and we are not entirely sure if it is the right thing to do. There are those who claim they work and others who claim that they work because of a placebo.


Many talk about the low nutritional value of vegetables and fruit because of soil depletion, and then there are those who contradict that with scientific facts. So we keep wondering about it. To find a balance, I would suggest getting yourself tested, and seeing how well you are doing scientifically will indicate to you what exactly you should be increasing on and what to do away with.


The bottom line is, we have to look and feel fantastic. We have to have a lot of energy and love life. If you are not exactly where you want to be, physically, emotionally, or otherwise, there could be something holding you back. Go see a medical professional, as well as a coach, or counselor, so that you can give yourself a rating for every aspect of your life. Day 3 of our 10-day detox, and I already lost 1.2 kg and 0.3% off my BMI. Super excited to see what is going down for the rest of the week!

Make sure you get enough rest. By day 3 you might start experiencing headaches or some discomfort in your body. If you can squeeze in an afternoon nap, it will greatly assist your body to regain strength to just keep going.


Keep track of your progress on the workbook! If you did not download it, go back to day 1 and download it from there. Print it and make this your daily activity - to record your progress.

Day 2 and I am feeling great! No headaches or dizziness. This program is amazing! It really helps one stay focussed when you pray 3 times a day - just like Daniel did.

If the 500ml water intake is too much for you, then please make it 350ml or even 250ml at a time. As long as you get in your regular glasses of water to help your body flush out the toxins. The usual benchmark is about 1 liter of water per every 30 kg that you weigh. So in the beginning, if you have a lot of weight to lose, then it is great to take in more water than usual.

Don't forget to have fun! Schedule fun activities so you do not get obsessed with food. Many times our only fun thing to do is eat. But if you can train your brain otherwise, it is a great help!
