Why Has Tino Been MIA?

Why Has Tino Been MIA?

Welcome back to Black and Raww Podcast, I know I've been a bit MIA lately, but I promise there's a good reason. So, grab your headphones and settle in as I spill the tea on what's been happening in my world.

First things first, I graduated from social work last year and took a well-deserved year off. It's been an incredible year, and I can't wait to share more details in our upcoming yearly review episode.

Now, let's talk job hunting. I had my sights set on a specific local authority, and I was so confident in my skills that I didn't apply anywhere else. Crazy, right? Well, my mom thought so too, and she nudged me to broaden my horizons. Spoiler alert: it worked, and I'm excited to spill the tea on my first two weeks as a social worker.

In these reflections, I'll dish on why I chose this path, spill the deets on my amazing team (Christmas duo, anyone?), and share my experiences with the diverse group of colleagues, including unexpected Zimbabwean connections.

Life is all about duality, right? I've been contemplating this concept as I navigate the complexities of social work. From heartbreaking moments to making kids laugh, there's a unique joy in the sadness.

Surprisingly, I'm loving the job, despite its stressful reputation. Join me as I delve into the fears, nerves, and unexpected joys that come with being a social worker. And yes, I'll spill some tea on how this journey ties into my passion project, Black & Raww.

But wait, there's more! I'll also touch on Movember and how it's impacted my mental health. From a solid work routine to hitting the basketball court, I've found ways to keep my sanity intact. I spill the beans on my stress management tricks and how my morning routine is my secret weapon.

As we wrap up, I want to explain my recent podcast hiatus and reassure you that more episodes are on the way. Plus, if you're curious about my social work journey or just want to chat, hit me up on Insta, Twitter, TikTok, or shoot me an email.

Thanks for tuning in, and let's keep this conversation going!

"Raising Children and Running a Business: A Conversation with Southern Gents' Fola Lawson"

Welcome back to another episode of the B&R podcast, I know it has been a week or so since a new episode was released. I want to edit this one in a different way so that’s why it took a little longer. However, my guest today is well worth the wait. I speak with Fola Lawson, creator and director of Southern Gents. a Black-owned menswear brand, styling platform and e-commerce destination alongside its inspiring Co-Founder/Creative Director Fola Lawson. Fola is a style expert and dad of two with a modern approach to essential menswear, on a mission to motivate men and prioritize their wardrobe.

He comes onto the podcast to discuss about his entrepreneurial journey, how Southern gents got started, his educational background and how that helped him in business. We also discuss race and business; we touch on raising children and the importance of being present too. There is so much more I haven’t mentioned but you’ll have to watch or listen to hear it.

My listeners are getting a promotional code that lasts until the June 30th:

How To Push The Next Generation Forward? With Kwamane Harris

How To Push The Next Generation Forward? With Kwamane Harris

On today’s episode of the podcast, you’ll hear from Kwamane Harris. Kwamane has worked in various social care settings in the US. He is also the Author of Pushing the Generation forward. My book is designed to encourage children, young people and adults to find their purpose by empowering the next generation. This means that despite the trauma, hardship, poverty, oppression, racism, and generational curses we’ve experienced in life we have to develop the mindset to Push the Generations Forward for our children’s children.

Kwamane comes onto the podcast to talk about his new book, how we can build positive relationships with young people, mental health within social care, intergenerational wealth and how the next generation can be supported in reaching their full potential.

Here is a little about Kwamane’s book:

“Pushing the Generations Forward” is a positive mindset that shifts focus from the hardships of one’s life to an idea of hope and a mindset of pushing towards a better future, pushing past all of the tough times so that you can make a better future for the next generation. This paradigm shift replaces the struggle for survival with the opportunity for personal growth, the discovery of a special Calling and the creation of one's best self.  Significantly, a Purpose centred outside of oneself, with the goal of building strength and resilience, not just for ourselves, but for future generations, is an integral part of the process of Pushing the Generations Forward.

Does Being Rich Make You Happy? Life and Finances with Andrei Hall

Does Being Rich Make You Happy? Life and Finances with Andrei Hall

On today’s episode of the podcast, I talk with Andrei Hall. Andrei Hall, President of Hall Wealth Management Group, has over 18 years of experience in wealth management for retirees, high-level executives, celebrities, and business owners. He's currently a member of Ed Slott’s (MSNBC, PBS) Master Elite Advisor, a group dedicated to solving the most complex retirement issues.

Hall Wealth Management’s success is based on Andrei’s firm belief in a holistic financial planning process. This starts with a comprehensive plan to develop planning, retirement, and estate strategies and determine which investments to be best utilized.

Andrei and I talk about developing your own business, keeping your wealth and building wealth. We also discuss His early childhood experiences and the influence his stepfather had on him. In addition, we ask ourselves does being rich make you happy and what he looks for in new employees.
