TLCAsks E5: Gamification with Jeremiah Grabowski
In this episode, Learning Designer, Katherine Kohler, invites Jeremiah Grabowski to discuss the subject of gamification in higher education.
Jeremiah currently serves as inaugural Dean of Online Learning at D’Youville University. At D’Youville his primary responsibility is to expand the University’s academic mission through high-quality online learning. During his tenure, D’Youville has launched 16 new online programs under his tenure including the nation’s first 3-year Online PharmD.
Prior to D’Youville, he held related positions at the University at Buffalo and Trocaire College. His background is in instructional design, online education, gamification, educational technology, and faculty development.
Jeremiah holds a PhD in Curriculum, Instruction, and the Science of Learning from the University at Buffalo. His research interests include examining how faculty can integrate gamification into the design of online courses.

TLCAsks E4: The Global Challenge Project
In this episode, Victoria Surtees discusses the Global Challenge Project with guests Larissa Horne, Experiential Education Coordinator at the University of the Fraser Valley, and Ryan Leonhard, Executive Director of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Together, they talk about ways to embed Global Challenges in existing university courses – challenges that involve students connecting virtually with stakeholders and business owners in other countries, like Vietnam. We discuss the added value for students, the importance of open collaboration, and the different forms a Global Challenge could take, including course-integrated projects and remote practicums.
