S2E23: The Risks of UMFA in Pregnancy
Last week we talked about the remarkable results 5-LMTHF produced in couples struggling with infertility relative to high-dose folic acid, which is the standard of care. This week, let's expand on that by looking at some possible risks of high-dose folic acid to those very same pregnancies. First, let's talk about the actual difference to blood levels between high and low dose pregnant women. Then, a study linking UMFA in certain groups with risks of ASD or autism spectrum disorder. Lastly, a study showing an interesting link between UMFA levels and food allergies. While the research on UMFA in pregnancy is in early days, it still brings up some compelling points to share with your team of practitioners during pregnancy to make sure that you are getting the best supplementation for you. S2E22: The Harm that 5000 mcg Folic Acid Can Do To Fertility with MTHFR
5000 mcg folic acid is the standard of care for pregnancies that are considered high-risk and pregnancies in couples struggling with infertility. Unfortunately, many of those couples have MTHFR polymorphisms in one or both partners, and for anybody with MTHFR issues, this is going to actually impair the fertility process and damage their health. We'll talk about one particular research study that followed 33 couples with MTHFR polymorphisms who used the simple addition of 5-LMTHF to drastically change their successful pregnancy rates. Season One has been amazing. So much information from a very academic standpoint, but what about practical application? Choline, Magnesium and Zinc for MTHFR
Of course MTHFR is about folate, but the whole methylation pathway is so vital to your health, that lots of other nutrients are tied up in this process, too.
