S1E4 The Blues Rocks
The most classic of classic rock is blues rock. Born of a fusion of Chicago and Delta (and sometimes Texas) blues and rock and roll, blues rock has been a dominating force in rock music since the 1960s. Blues rock has undergone a number of transformations in the ensuing decades but is still a rich musical vein tapped by today's musicians. This podcast tells the story of blues rock from it's beginnings to new blues rock today.
As always, there is a Spotify playlist that accompanies this podcast.
S1E3: Dream Your Dream
Back in the 1990s, I discovered a genre of alternative music called Dream Pop. It had been around since the 1980s but I had missed that phase of it at the time. Dream Pop faded from view for 20 years or so, merging into other genres. Then a marvelous thing happened. In the 2010s, a group of new bands emerged that where influenced by or had similarities to the original first or second wave of Dream Pop.
In this episode, I discuss the early bands and point you to new bands in this space. You can find the playlist for this episode on Spotify too. I hope you enjoy it.
S1E2: Road to Ruin
This podcast examines the history of Punk through the lens of my experience as a Punk rocker. I then present a sample of some of the Punk bands I like today and their connections to old-school, Pop Punk, and Hardcore.
Included is a 56 song playlist on Spotify that provides a buffet of Punk from the past through to the present. You can also find this podcast on Spotify.
S1E1: The Legacy of Kate Bush
This, the first, episode of the podcast Tunes Past to Present explores the legacy of Kate Bush as expressed in today’s music especially two modern artists with similar musical tendencies and style.
The podcast is also available on Spotify. You can hear the associated playlist there as well.
P.S. Since this is the first episode of my podcast, I am publishing without sponsors. At some time in the future I may include paid sponsorships but for the moment, we are commercial free.
