It only took WWE almost 1000 days, but someone other than Roman Reigns is going to be our new WWE World Heavyweight Champion! This is so exciting for every single top talent in the company that can finally have the chance to reign on top of the mountain as THE GUY. While we acknowledge our Tribal Chief, WWE has some red-hot talent ready to take the role in the main event and will actually be on television weekly.

In this week's episode, Juice and Bill go over the WWE's announcement of the new belt, who we think will be the first champion crowned at Night of Champions, and of course what THEY would do differently to the belt's design (I mean, it's alright...). Plus there was a MAJOR pro wrestling name for another wrestling promotion that was backstage at the most recent WWE show in Chicago. Let's just say this guy is a "Chick Magnet", but he also is a bit of a heat magnet.

One of the most exciting things of the WWE year is the WWE Draft. The event divides teams, refreshes feuds, and gives a chance for returns and NXT Superstars to come up to the main roster to wrestle with the best. WWE has had a lot of attention on their show with the news of new ownership and the potential of Vince McMahon coming back full-time, so we just hope they do it well and don't ruin any of our favorite pro wrestlers.

In this week's episode, Juice and Bill dust off their old booker hats as they take the helm of Smackdown and Raw in this mock WWE 2023 Draft. Using a pool of only current WWE talent, potential NXT callups, and superstars slated for big returns a roster of 7 men, 7 women, and 4 tag teams will be drafted in hopes to reign in brand supremacy.

The showcase of the immortals, Wrestlemania 39 has come and gone. There were some really good things about the show, including the Women's Title matches, the Gunther/Sheamus/Drew McIntyre banger, and the emotional Tag Title win by Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. However, there were some bad things too. Why didn't Cody Rhodes best Roman Reigns WWE?

Between Dominik Mysterio and CM Punk, there is some major brat energy going on around them in the world of professional wrestling, albeit on different ends of the spectrum. For the Con Dom, he's just a brat in general. Not able to get over his father being great, and is unable to take action away from his Mami. For Punk, he has aired his grievances with his locker room mates on his deleted Instagram stories.

Max steps into the cage not long after having an in-ring moment with Juice at the New England Pro Wrestling Academy Fantasy Camp, where fans and prospective students can be run through a day of training to become a pro wrestler. Max, who trains and runs NEPWA, also talks about his career working with CHIKARA during a time the promotion was white hot, and what he has learned through his career to bring into the ring as a trainer to the next generation.  We also run down the new Rad Pro Rasslin' promotion that is going to bring a new spin on a classic wrestling formula. Max had a blast creating this show, and though it was hard work to get done, the show sold out! Make sure you check out this one because it is extremely insightful and a fun time too!

BC comes back for another round of pro wrestling talk. Thomas also goes into the new school talking about how he got started, how the experience has gone so far, and what he sees the future to be like. 

Thomas has more to prove and give in the wrestling world, sighting that his wrestling career is far from over. From matches yet to be had, to opportunities like booking, commentary, and much more available to him, Thomas Santell is aiming to leave a lasting impression on this wrestling world one student and one moment at a time. Espartano also breaks down training at the NEWPA wrestling school, where he has been under the tutelage of those trainers there for nearly 2 years and has already developed tremendously in and out of the ring. Mike steps into the cage for a second time to dive into APW and the goals the company has coming into 2023. Mike is no stranger to how we work around here, so, of course, we had to talk about the stellar year APW had in 2022 such as the Nightbreed's retirement, the crowning of Nico Silva beating Elia Markopoulos as the top guy, former guest Owen Brody taking the Clipper City Rumble, and so much more. APW is slated to run 18 wrestling shows at the time of recording (some more possibly on the way) in 2023, with plans to reignite the tag team division coming up at their Revolution II show emanating out of Newburyport, MA on January 21st.

Mike has his eye on the future in 2023, hoping to get up-and-coming talents such as Kidd V, Mani Aries, and Cassius Hall featured in major roles on the show, while continuing to bring in top-tier talent from across the world of independent professional wrestling like Brian Milonas, TJ Crawford, MSP, and more. Mike also is working on his own health and well-being, starting to do fitness training under a very JACKED AEW superstar.

He is "The Silver Sniper", he is TJ Crawford! TJ steps into the cage this week and shoots his voice into your ears. TJ talks about the knee injury that cost him several months of his career, and how his support system of friends and family, plus building LEGOs, pushed him through the days that sucked so that he could make his in-ring return. Looking at the current crop of women's talent in NXT, you cannot deny that there are some shining stars coming through WWE's development brand. We are a couple of weeks removed from AEW's Full Gear 2022 pay-per-view, where we saw the crowning of some new champions (one of which Juice and Bill have been asking to see for a while). Juice and Bill break down each match from the event, and give reactions to whether they liked Tony Khan's booking, or if something could have been done better. In this episode, we also dive into the AEW World Title Eliminator tournament and discuss how the future winner will be booked as a certain new champion seemingly cannot lose any time soon. Welcome back to Top Of The Cage! Bill and Juice welcome into the cage this week a former APW New England Champion, the winner of APW's 2022 Clipper City Rumble, one part of "The Syndicate", he is "The O Bro" Owen Brody!

Owen steps into the cage with Bill and Juice to talk about his nearly 14-year career, getting into how he got into the pro wrestling business, and the big hurdle he had to overcome at the beginning of his career (Spoiler: His first character had a pretty interesting name.)  The guys also dive into Owen's appearances in promotions Let's Wrestle and Atlantic Pro Wrestling, where The O Bro recently stole the show and came out victorious in the 2022 Clipper City Rumble to earn a shot at the gold. They also discuss, of course, The Syndicate and how the group started from the first time appearing together to recruiting and booting new members, but also the connection the wrestlers have outside the ring and some of the important aspects that can bring to tag team wrestling.

We get into the training Jay has received from the 5 time (5 time) world champion, 2x WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, and what things the legend has taught him about being a professional wrestler, as well as his background in arena football and bodybuilding that has helped in training and carrying himself in the world of wrestling. Jay has also gotten the chance to work in some of the premiere wrestling promotions battling some of the best talents in the indy wrestling scene today, but at only 27 years of age he has so much more in the tank and so much hunger to be the best he can that he will make sure you remember the name. The weekend of wrestling between Clash at The Castle, Worlds Collide, and All Out was top tier, but there was one thing everyone was talking about that weekend, and if you haven't heard about it...
