It's been 13 years since 'Avatar' premiered and became the highest grossing movie of all time, which is why the first teaser trailer for its long awaited sequel is a big deal. Jim and AJ review the latest trailer for 'Avatar: The Way of Water' and discuss why this franchise is so popular. But first, they have some things to say about the trailers for 'Men' and 'Weird.'

The Return of Marvel, Musicals and Movies in General

The Return of Marvel, Musicals and Movies in General

These are exciting times! At long last, it seems that movies – along with their trailers – are coming back. There are simply too many recently released trailers to talk about in one sitting, so for this episode, we narrow our conversation down to two things that are near and dear to us: Marvel and musicals. We discuss the latest trailers for Marvel's "Black Widow" as well as "Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" – plus trailers for Steven Spielberg's "Westside Story" and the film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda's "In the Heights.” We also return to the topic of corporate sizzle reels, reviewing Netflix's "Summer Movie Preview" and "Marvel Studios Celebrates the Movies."

'Godzilla vs. Kong' and WB's 'Same Day Premiere' Trailers

We're Trying Our Best: Trailers in the Time of COVID

We're Trying Our Best: Trailers in the Time of COVID

As movie theaters shut down across the country, studios are delaying their movie releases and pumping the brakes on their trailers – leaving us with little to talk about. So in this episode, we set our sights on 'The Invisible Man', which recently jumped from theaters to Video On Demand, and compare the movie to its trailer. Also, in keeping up with the very timely theme of checking on each other's health, we share updates on our own experiences with COVID-19.

This episode is sponsored by the one and only Ian Phillips. Thanks for your support, Ian!

‘The (Dark) Green Knight’

‘The (Dark) Green Knight’

In this episode, we spend way too much time discussing the SUPER TEASE camera test of ‘The Batman’. We're taken by surprise by the amazing trailer for ‘The Green Knight’. We then go into our favorite game of "guess the trope" when discussing Wes Anderson's ‘The French Dispatch’ trailer.

'F9' and the Oscar for Best Trailer

In this episode, we kick things off by reviewing the epic, nearly four-minute trailer for 'F9', the next installment of the 'Fast and Furious' franchise. We also review a synchronous pair of trailers for Noah Baumbach's 'Marriage Story', which stars Scarlett Johannson and Adam Driver. And for those not lucky enough to have seen it, we give a dramatic retelling of the secret trailer for Christopher Nolan's 'Tenet', which is playing in theaters only.

Our First Look at ‘The Irishman’ and This Year's Oscar Hopefuls

Our First Look at ‘The Irishman’ and This Year's Oscar Hopefuls

Every Fall season comes with a heap of movies vying for prestigious awards, and with Fall on the horizon we're beginning to see these movies' trailers. The biggest of these awards contenders might be 'The Irishman', a highly anticipated gangster epic reuniting Martin Scorsese with Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel, not to mention Al Pacino (who Scorsese has never worked with before). In this episode, we review the first full-length teaser trailer for 'The Irishman', addressing topics like "face technology", Netflix's possible release strategy, and just how much the world missed Joe Pesci. We also review trailers for 'Jojo Rabbit', a delightful-looking anti-war satire from "visionistical" director Taika Waititi, and 'The Lighthouse', which might be the most unique (i.e. weird) movie among this year's awards seekers.

Check out the trailers yourself by visiting the links below.

In this episode, AJ and Jim talk about what went wrong with 'Cats', and what's so remarkable about 'Top Gun: Maverick'.

‘The Farewell’ to ‘Rambo’ and ‘Terminator’? Plus, the Golden Trailer Awards

There's a lot of ground to cover this episode. First up, the Golden Trailer Awards. We discuss and critique a few of the event's top prize winners. Then we're on to our new favorite indie trailer, 'The Farewell', before being joined by an esteemed special guest and diving into what are seemingly two unkillable franchises, 'Rambo' and 'Terminator'. From there, we talk HBO trailers, plus why we're skeptical of 'Ad Astra' but sold on 'Ford v Ferrari'.

Once Upon a Trailer... in Hollywood

Once Upon a Trailer... in Hollywood

Trailers don't just promote movies these days. They're now used for shows, networks and streaming services. That's why in this episode, we review the trailers for a movie, a show and a streaming service. First up is a teaser for perhaps the movie-est of movies; it's Quentin Tarantino's star-studded ninth film, ‘Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood'. From there, our focus turns to television, where we discuss the trailers for ‘Stranger Things 3’ and Apple's soon-to-be streaming service, Apple TV+.

This episode is brought to you by Scott, J.D., and most importantly, Clary.

We dive right in to discuss the opening scene of the trailer; the apparent course corrections J.J. Abrams is making now that he has retaken creative reigns; the Emperor's laugh; and yes, what our thoughts are on that newly unveiled title, 'The Rise of Skywalker'. Let's talk 'Star Wars', y'all.

We also discuss the epic super teaser for Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Irishman', which made a surprising debut on the Oscars telecast. You know what we don’t talk about in this episode? Marvel. (Sorry, Marvel fans.)

We also discuss the 'Child's Play' remake, which has a good cast but not such a good spin on Chucky's origin story. And fulfilling a request from AJ's mom, we review the trailer for Gina Rodriguez's action movie, 'Miss Bala'. Finally, we dissect the Super Bowl spot for 'Avengers: Endgame' (which isn't a trailer, but it's our show and we do what we want). This episode is sponsored by our friend, Greg.

Is 'The Favourite' Our Favorite Trailer of the Year?

Is 'The Favourite' Our Favorite Trailer of the Year?

It's a sequel episode! After reviewing their first trailers several episodes back, we now review the second trailers for 'Halloween' and 'First Man' (hence this being a sequel episode). 'Halloween' brings back Jamie Lee Curtis as well as the original actor who played Michael Meyers, and 'First Man' is the Neil Armstrong biopic from 'La La Land' director Damien Chazelle, starring Ryan Gosling. Plus, AJ has a surprising reaction to the latest trailer for 'The Favourite', which just might be Jim's favorite trailer of the year. We also discuss the first trailer for 'Front Runner', starring Hugh Jackman as the infamous '88 presidential candidate Gary Hart, before finally addressing a bizarre trailer for 'Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms'. It's an impressive lineup of trailers for what looks like an impressive Fall season of movies. And at one point, AJ's forced to leave the room.

What's up with that old man in the 'Suspiria' trailer? Do we support Chris Pine playing a 14th century Scottish leader in 'Outlaw King'? And will 'Slice', the horror/comedy movie featuring Chance the Rapper, be as bad as its trailer? We'll get to all of that and more in this episode, while also inducting the first trailer into our "Trailer Made Hall of Fame". Find out which 2015 trailer we consider to be a bonafide classic. (Hint: it's the teaser for 'The Revenant'.)

In this episode, we explore AJ's "emotional rollercoaster" relationship with the 'Creed 2' trailer, gush over the 'mid90s' trailer and, finally, we talk about 'Mandy', the trailer.
