Theology Matters- Man and Sin
We’re in the middle of a series called Theology Matters. We’re going through our own little Reforming Manhood version of a systematic theology. This week we’re talking about man and sin. We talk about how man is made in the image of God, and how man is corrupted by sin. Because we’re made in the image of God we are deserving of dignity and respect, but because we are sinners, that doesn’t always happen. We talk about what it means to be born with a sinful nature, and we discuss how that has ruined our relationship with God, but Jesus made a way for us to be reconciled back to him. As always, we hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. Let's continue the conversation over at our men's facebook group, Reforming Manhood, https://www.facebook.com/groups/115836479115063/ Don't forget to subscribe!

Theology Matters- Holy Spirit
We’re in the third week of our new series called Theology Matters. We’re going through our own little Reforming Manhood version of a systematic theology. This week we’re talking about the third person of the trinity, the Holy Spirit. We’re going to talk about those people that see him as a crazy uncle that they either avoid or love way too much, we’re gonna talk about the actual role of the Holy Spirit, we’re gonna talk about that song that welcomes the Holy Spirit, as if he’s not God, and lastly, what’s the deal with baptists skipping verses that worship the Holy Spirit? We’re gonna talk about all of that today! Check it out! As always, we hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. Theology Matters- God
We’re starting a new series today called Theology Matters. We’re going to be going through our own little Reforming Manhood version of a systematic theology. Buckle up folks because we’ve got a lot to go through in this episode as we talk about the Triune God of the universe. It’s important that we study who this God is, and that we don’t get Him wrong, because we need to know the God that we are to worship. We’re going to be worshiping this God for a very long time, so it’s important that we know who he is as he’s revealed himself to us in scripture today. As always, we hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. Devotion to Truth
Truth is not a popular thing in our culture today. However, as Christians, we need to be devoted to truth because truth is a person. In this weeks podcast, the guys borrow from Doug Wilson’s show Man Rampant, and some things we learned from the Sin of Empathy episode to talk about how empathy, falsehoods, and a lack of devotion to truth have affected our society. We then talk about how we should fight for truth, what that looks like, and why it’s necessary. Check it out! As always, we hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. Manhood Without Permission 4
We’re talking about manhood without permission. In today’s society, everybody has an opinion on what it means to be a man, and often times it means ignoring or denying what God says it means to be a man. Society is constantly attacking christian men, and is telling us that we do not have permission to be men the way God has called us to. We’re here today to tell you that you don’t need permission, and God actually demands it of you. This week we’re talking about what it means to be a man in the city. Sometimes being a man in the city means doing something unpopular, and that means you’re probably going to be hated. Just being a cisgender christian white male in America is enough to get you burned in the streets, but now we’re calling you to not just be those things in word, be those things in deed too. Walk out your convictions and don’t back down. Be a man in the city even when it’s not fun. As always, we hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. We’re talking about manhood without permission. Society is constantly attacking christian men, and is telling us that we do not have permission to be men the way God has called us to. We’re here today to tell you that you don’t need permission, and God actually demands it of you. This week we’re talking about what it means to be a man in the church. To be a godly man, one must be committed to what is going on in the local church, and he must be involved. A man must lead in this, and not let his wife take the lead. The church is vital to the life of the individual christian and to the family as a whole, so it is vital that you are there. As always, we hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. Society is constantly attacking christian men, and is telling us that we do not have permission to be men the way God has called us to. We’re here today to tell you that you don’t need permission, and God actually demands it of you. This week we’re talking about what it means to be a man in the home, and how men should be king in the home. I know, it’s controversial to talk like that, but here us out before you start getting mad at the king title. God has called us to be kings in our home that lead, and, NO, we don’t mean that servant leadership/excuse to be a coward kind of lead either. We mean actually stepping up, leading your family like God commands, and being a good king in your home, and we don’t believe you should be a tyrannical dictator. Give it a listen, then let’s have a conversation. As always, we hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. Society is constantly attacking christian men, and is telling us that we do not have permission to be men the way God has called us to. We’re here today to tell you that you don’t need permission, and God actually demands it of you. This week we’re talking about what it means to be a man over yourself: a self-governed man. We talk about excuses that men make to be cowards, and we talk about why this is an important starting place. If you can’t govern yourself well as a man, how can you be a man in any other sphere of life. As always, we hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. The Bible Makes Us Alive and Pure
This week the guys are sitting down to talk about how God’s word makes us alive and how it makes us pure. Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two edge sword. What does that look like in our lives. Well first it works by making us alive, or regeneration. Then it works in making us pure, sanctification. The word of God does both, and that’s exactly what the guys are talking about this week! As always, we hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. The Bible is Complete
We have a word from the Lord for you! “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” See what I did there? I had a word from the Lord, it’s in quotes because it is the words of the living God, and it is found in 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Today we’re talking about the Bible is complete, and how it has everything we need pertaining to life and godliness. This means we don’t need special revelation from God. We just need to be obedient with what God has already told is the collection of the 66 books that we call the Holy Bible, the word of the living God. If you want to join the same reading plan as Trevor, just check out this link! https://biblereading.christkirk.com/ As always, we hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. The Bible is... Episode 1
The guys are starting a new theology series on the Bible. We’re going to talk about what it is, and what it does. This week we talk about how the Bible is the Word of God and because it’s the word of God, it is trustworthy. We talk about how that should affect our thinking and how it matters in our day-to-day life. As always, we hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. Christian Liberty
This is our last weeks of warnings for men, but we are hoping that you can find some freedoms in this last one. This week we’re looking at Christian Liberty. “For freedom Christ has set us free…” This is a beautiful fact of our new life in Christ. We are free in Christ, and that means there is so much that we can do in this world and not be in sin, but that’s not where the verse ends. “stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” While we have so many freedoms, we should sin in our freedoms. This is exactly what the guys are talking about this week! As always, we hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. Fighting Idols
In the words of WWE Superstar, Seth Rollins, “BURN IT DOWN!” Okay, don’t really go burning down idols, but you can destroy your own idols. Idolatry is still a bid deal in our society today, even if we think we’re safe because we’re not bowing down to statues. We still have created things that we do worship. Today we’re talking about how we should deal with our own idols, how we should be aware of idols in our community, and how we should preach the gospel in light of idolatry. This week the guys are talking about money paths and traps. As church planters, we’re storing up treasure in heaven, but we know a thing or two about good paths to take and traps that people can fall into. It’s really easy for young people to just waste money, and we hope to warn against that in this episode. We also want to encourage you to make a budget and be good stewards of what God has given you. Secret Sins, Tolerated Sins
The guys sit down to start a new episode on warnings for men. We often try to tell ourselves that some sins are okay, but the reality is, all sin leads to death. We try to hide our sins, but the reality is, God sees all of our sins. This week we are specifically talking about the warning of secret sins and tolerated sins. As christian men, we should be killing all sin before sin kills us. As always, we hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. Grace- God Doesn't Lose His Car Keys
We’re finishing our series on grace this week! Grace is when God gives us something that we don't deserve. This week we’re talking about how God never loses his car keys. It’s comforting to know that because we are saved by grace, and we do nothing to earn our salvation, then there’s nothing we can do to lose it either. Check out this episode, as we dive more into that truth. As always, we hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. Grace - God's Sheep Here His Voice and They Will Respond to Him
We’re continuing our series on grace this week! Grace is when God gives us something that we don't deserve. This week we’re talking about how God’s sheep hear his voice, and they will respond to him. What does this mean? This means Jesus can, and does, override our unbelief, despite what some modern evangelical “preachers” might say. Go with us on this journey as we look at how we know that God’s people will hear and respond to him, and how we should live our lives in light of that. Grace-Not Everyone Goes to Heaven
We’re continuing our series on grace this week! Grace is when God gives us something that we don't deserve. Not only did God choose us, but he took the place of sinners on the cross. However, not all people go to heaven, why is that? This week we get into the specifics of who Christ for. We ask the question, did he waste a single drop of his blood? We also answer some tough questions and look at some difficult bible verses. I’m sure this will be a hard week for some, and we want to be available to answer any questions, so lets talk over at the Facebook group. New series on grace starts this week! Grace is when God gives us something that we don't deserve. If that's the case, then we need to look at what do we deserve. This is where the bad news comes in. Mike and Trev sit down to talk about who we actually are before God, how the church sometimes get's this wrong, why it's important we get this right, and how this is the foundation for understanding that we are saved by grace. Biblical Masculinity
Hey yo! Last episode we talked about toxic masculinity. This week we’re talking about biblical masculinity, and looking at what the culture gets right or wrong. No matter what the world says about masculinity, the Bible has made pretty clear what it looks like to be a man. We shouldn’t try to refine it. Check out this weeks episode to see how we do! Toxic Masculinity Ep. 1
Hey yo! We’re starting a new series today! We’re going to be talking about Toxic Masculinity. Toxic Masculinity is a phrase that seems to be very fluid in its definition, but we tried to find a good one. The culture is always changing what it considers toxic, and sometimes it’s actually not. Well that is the case today! We are talking about how culture wants us to redefine manhood, but the Bible calls us men to something different, something higher. We discuss these things and more on today’s podcast, so go check it out! As always, we hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. Life in 2021
Hey fellas! 2021 is starting off to already be a crazy year! This week we're doing something that we don't do very often. We are taking a look at what in the world is going on in American politics. We are specifically look at a few things that raise concern for us as we move into 2021: our new very liberal government, censorship, the new equality bill, and the lefts demand to continue to move further left. In the times we're living in, what does scripture demand of us? How should we live in light of these things? Check out this episode, and we're going to talk about all these things and more! Six Things the Lord Hates Part 4
Well, it's 2021, so things must be looking up, right? No matter how your year is going, we need to wrap up this series on Proverbs 6:16-19, and it says,  "There are six things that the Lord hates, Seven that are an abomination to Him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil, A false witness who declares lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers." This week we're looking at "A false witness who declares lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers." Trev just got out of quarantine, and Mike has been missing having him around, so they might have had a little too much fun talking about these things. What's the difference between this lying and a lying tongue talked about earlier? What is strife among brothers? How should we live in this world when we are surrounded by these six things? We want to talk about that here today! As always, we hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. This week we're looking at "A heart that devises wicked plans, and feet that run rapidly to evil." these two appear to be similar, but they are just a little different. Six Things the Lord Hates Part 1
Merry Christmas you filthy animals! Now that we got that out of the way, we're moving on to something cheery. Okay, not really, but we are moving on to something theological. Proverbs 6:16-19 says,  "There are six things that the Lord hates, Seven that are an abomination to Him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil, A false witness who declares lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers." We are going to be spending the next few weeks looking at these verses and talking about what it means that God hates, should we hate these things too, and what our balance in theology should be between love and hate. Join us as we walk through this verse, look at these six things, and then apply this verse to our life. It should be... The Church
This week the guys are talking about the Church. The church is vital in the life of the Christian. We are now seeing exactly how valuable the church actually is in the life of the “American Christian.” Due to COVID-19 and the quarantine, it just sped up the off ramp for many people in the church that don’t take the gathering seriously. That being said, Mike and Trevor recorded this episode to talk about the value of the local church and how important it is in the life of the believer. We hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. Back to Basics Part 3
According to a Ligonier study (https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/a-majority-of-americans-think-jesus-is-a-great-teacher-yet-reject-his-claims-to-be-god-301119281.html), 52% of Americans say that Jesus was just a teacher and nothing more. This raises a pretty big problem because if Jesus wasn't God, we are without hope!  Well this week, the guys are talking about how Jesus is 100% God and 100% man, and they talk about why that matters to us today! Also if you want to know why the Lucha Precha has such good theology, you DON'T want to miss this episode! We want this to be a conversation. Back to Basics Part 2
52% of people, that describe themselves as Christian, believe they can earn right favor before God based on their own good deeds. 1 out of every 3 people in America say they believe they are a christian and that they will go to Heaven when they die because they confessed their sins and accepted Jesus as their savior. Where did we come up with this? Check out this article that came out last week! https://www.christianpost.com/news/over-half-of-us-christians-believe-good-works-will-get-them-into-heaven-study.html This week, the guys are going back to the basics on God, and we are talking about monotheism and trinity. We talk about what it means that we serve ONE God that exists in three distinct persons. We talk about why it is important that we get this right. We talk about how people get this wrong. Lastly, we talk about what distinct role each person plays in the life of a believer. We want this to be a conversation. It would appear that the church in America is either confused, misunderstands, or they are just completely wrong about what we believe. We feel it is important to talk about it! This week we are specifically talking about the gospel and about grace. We hope this is helpful for to you men as you lead your families and live your lives, and we hope this is a wake up call to pastors to teach clearly and call people to repentance.  We want this to be a conversation. Heroes of the Faith
This week, the guys are doing a one week episode on some guys that we see as our heroes in the church right now. We are talking about some of the things that have been going on in our country and in the church, and how these men have been taking a stand against the realities of the world we are living in. It seems the wold, and even some in the church, are labeling these men as crazy, foolish, or mean spirited, but it looks, to us, more like they are passionate about the Church.  That being said, we want this to be a conversation. We hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. Suffering
This week the guys finish up this series by talking about suffering. We loosely based this series on the words of the great theologian Yoda: “Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.” Nobody likes to suffer. This week we talk about two different kinds of suffering, causing yourself to suffer and making others suffer. Tune in this week to learn a little about Trevors past, how people suffer when they don’t kill sin, and how we can have hope in times of suffering. We hope this is an encouragement, and we want this to be a resource to you men. We loosely based this series on the words of the great theologian Yoda: “Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.” The way the guys talk about hate this week might surprise you. We talk about how hate, like fear, gets a bad rap. Sometimes hate can be a good thing, sometimes hate is an evil thing, and we talk about how we think all that shakes out. This week the guys sit down with J-Mac and talk about anger. How does anger affect us? Is anger sin? How can we not sin in our anger? and What kind of anger is okay with God? We talk about anger as motorcycle riders, missionaries, and drivers in Lubbock, Texas. Tune in to see what all that has to do with each other. Fear
This week the guys start a new series, loosely, based on the words of the great theologian Yoda: “Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering.” This week we are talking about fear. Fear can, at times, be a good thing, but can other times be a bad thing. How does fear affect our life, and should we let it control our lives? Also, as a bonus, you get to hear about a couple of times that Mike and Trevor almost died of laughter. That really happened! We laid the foundation for that last week, and we expand on it this week. We talk about what submission looks like if you love your job, if you hate your job, and if you're the boss at your job. This week, Mike and Trevor sit down to start a new series on submission. As men, we are called to submit to God, submit to Government, and submit to our bosses. Submission is a word that rubs as Americans the wrong way, but we are still called to submit. This week we are talking specifically about submission to God. This will set the foundation for the rest of the series, and it also might be the hardest one. We are called to die to self and to take up our cross and fellow him.
