Relationship with Nature | Hungarian Sundance

Relationship with Nature | Hungarian Sundance

"Life is a miracle. It is worth seeing this miracle, recognizing it in ourselves and then our days are spent in the radiance of the Sun, in the light of God, on the path of Love."

Hungarian Wisdom Keeper Zoltán Sólyomfi-Nagy is a teacher, ethnographer, cultural anthropologist, poet, composer, old singer, drummer and rattle maker. His research on European and Hungarian traditions and his explorations and encounters with other Native Peoples brought him to revive, among others, Solstice Traditions such as the Hungarian Sundance.

The full talk is available here, which includes additional explanations about the local sweat lodge tradition (cserga), the writings which describe these ancient traditions and more on the philosophy of the solstice, not being a fight of light over darkness.

Zoltán is the founder of the TENGRI Community, which is a community of people who want to get to know, preserve, practice and pass on the original Hungarian spirit and worldview. http://tengri.hu/

Midwifery | Life, Death and Blood

Midwifery | Life, Death and Blood

Traditional childbirth as it is practised in the high mountains of the Columbian Andes is intertwined with the pleasure of the woman and the powers of blood whereby the placenta brings us the knowledge with advice, (his)story, song and dance. We speak with Sara Barbosa and Ramiro Partera from the Muisca Peoples about Pleasure as the path to knowledge and how they both got into midwifery. Through the Mujeres Bachua foundation and the schools in Latin America (https://escuelahuytaca.co/2021/), they bring this ancient teaching to our modern lives and hope more midwives will follow this path.

Listen to the full interview here in English and Spanish, which elaborates on the violence around blood and the effects on Mother Nature, on the feminine connection to God with our lips, on intersexuality and addressing the connection to the first and last breath and the role of midwives during both these passages.

Storytelling | Leadership and Decision Making

Chief Bill Erasmus from the Dene Nation up in the Northern Territories, shares about the treaties, leadership and decision making in this podcast recording. According to him and many indigenous organizing principles, decision making is done with consensus and that it is important to know the right person in charge.  To listen to the full recording where Bill tells tales of his father, about hunting, of misappropriation of indigenous culture, the transition to the wage economy and passing knowledge on through storytelling, please go to https://tribal-wisdom.org. #traditionalknowledge #tribalwisdom #storytelling #organizingprinciples #leadership #arcticcouncil #billerasmus #chieferasmus #dene #denefirstnation #yellowknife We welcome you to share your comments with a voice message on Anchor.fm and start a Q&A on the topic of Leadership or anything else which sparked your interest.
