Brands, Sponsorships & SCANDAL - Insta360gate
This episode of the Couch to Creator Podcast discusses the ethics of sponsorships, brand deals, and influencer marketing in light of the recent controversy with action camera brand, Insta360.
After numerous creators came out about their negative experiences collaborating with the Insta360, a larger discussion has arose around the topic of brands requesting for creators to omit or not disclose sponsored content.
The law is clear internationally that creators must make it clear to their viewers whether or not something is an advert. But with lots of grey areas and loop holes, the lines are blurred.
The conversation also touches on the topic of 'gifted' items and user-generated content in advertising, the challenges faced by creators and the importance of staying true to one's audience.

We start the podcast discussing Photo vs Video as well as the benefits and drawbacks of starting out in each. We then consider the reasons why, for success in the industry, you should be a well rounded creator and discuss the quote "Jack of All Trades" and how that's not quite giving the full picture.
