Episode 007 is about a growing--potentially exploding--topic in high schools around the country: esports. In a short amount of time, leagues have sprung up all over the country, and they are inviting more and more high schools to join the competition. And Hillcrest is jumping in!

What does that mean? High schools have teams of students who compete in video games, and Hillcrest is represented in that competition. That’s right, the Trojans have competitive teams who are gaming against other high schools in neighboring areas, neighboring states, and even on the other end of the country, all without ever getting on a bus to go head-to-head with the competition.

Episode 006 is all about mental health and how one club is bringing awareness to all the big thoughts and feelings students experience while attending Hillcrest High School. Bring Change 2 Mind Club is working to help students understand and process life in the twenty-first century. Join me as I chat with club advisor Amy Bonwell, and three club members to learn what this club is all about.

Episode 3 takes us on location with the Strong Life Club, where you will hear from the club's advisor, Carlos Ortiz. Also, you will hear from Tristan, one of the dedicated members of Strong Life who has achieved and maintained some personal goals. Strong Life aims to work on a student's inner strength as one gets in shape. Listen in to see how the club is shaping the hearts, minds, and bodies of the students for the better. 

Episode 002 is all about clearing up a rumor: Hillcrest High School sports are NOT competitive. That's not even close to true! Six years ago, maybe. But not in 2020. We have had multiple programs win CIF in their division, and some have won state! Coach Wood of the Hillcrest High School Boys Basketball jumped at the chance to tell you all about the great things going on in his program.

You will hear from Coach Wood about how the team has grown and what to expect from the rest of this season. And you will hear from two key players, a veteran who has been playing on the varsity team since his freshmen year (Sebastian Mendoza), and another who is brand new to Hillcrest (Mason Owens) but making a big impact on the court.
