We Have To Talk About AEW
This week on The Wrestling Caucus, we have to talk about AEW. Last week on Dynamite, AEW decided to air the security footage for the altercation between CM Punk and Jack Perry from last summer at All In. We discuss why this was one of the most embarrassing moments in professional wrestling in recent years. AEW needs to learn from the mistakes of wrestling past and not use their valuable television time to address matters that a small section of the audience will care about and breaking the fourth wall in the process. They also analyze Kenny Omega’s recent comments on his Twitch stream and if their upcoming Dynasty pay-per-view is worth the money. This isn’t about AEW vs WWE, this is about making sure March 2001 never happens again.

What Full Gear and Survivor Series 2022 Say About Wrestling
On the final caucus of 2022, we talk up the recent shows from AEW and WWE and what they say about the current state of wrestling. AEW Full Gear saw the promotions top heel, MJF become World Champion to a warm reaction. WWE Survivor Series saw the promotion revive the War Games concept and heel factions also receiving positive crowd reactions. What is the psychology of wrestling today? Is it good versus evil or are fans just reacting to the people they resonate with regardless of their moral standing?

AEW Full Gear 2021 Recap
This week on The Wrestling Caucus, we recap what was probably the best AEW Full Gear card since its inception in 2019. I (Peter A) was at the Target Center in Minneapolis and Smileyarriaga was back in New York watching it on PPV. I noticed a lot of CM Punk merch and Smiley, (among others) had issues with the PPV broadcast. Punk and Kingston beat the shit out of each other without traditional heel and face dynamics, Britt Baker is amazing, Tay Conti is a future star, Bryan Danielson is probably the best wrestler in the world (no secret), Thunder Rosa on the Buy In is questionable at best, and Mr Cowboy Shit finally beat Kenny! AEW seems to be investing in the future but I really wish they would do so in under four hours.

We Have To Talk About WWE
Returning from our apathetic nap, The Wrestling Caucus is back to discuss whether or not to talk WWE on this show unless theres a Dwayne Johnson level angle that takes place. Why? World Wrestling Entertainment is void of any wrestling logic and has not been very entertaining as of late. Dolls, zombies, a minority of compelling characters and a complete lack of cohesive storytelling have made it impossible to watch this promotion from a week to week basis. We also give our thoughts from attending both AEW Dynamite shows in the tri-state area at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ and at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, NY.
Interviewers! Are Now
This week on The Wrestling Caucus, myself (Peter A) and smileyarriaga talk interviewers in wrestling. What about them you say? Well, smiley was annoyed seeing how interviewers were portrayed on TV. He has a point because in WWE, interviewers can come across as robotic tools with no credibility or personality. In AEW, some of their more credible interviewers are not taken seriously by the wrestlers because they are either shoved aside, super kicked, and they usually have their mics taken away from them. I personally think pro-wrestling is moving away from establishing new credible interviewers. Alicia Atout from MLW seems to be the exception but hopefully she will become the rule.

Momentum Squandered
On June 27th, 2011, CM Punk cut his infamous "pipebomb" promo, a worked shoot angle that turned him into one of the most popular starts in WWE. Ten years later, The Wrestling Caucus, Peter A and smileyarriaga reflect on The Summer of Punk and how his momentum was squandered that summer by getting into a pointless program with Kevin Nash and subsequently losing clean to Triple H, who transitioning into an office role both in storyline and in real life. Throughout the 2010's, Becky Lynch, Daniel Brian, and Kofi Kingston all built an organic connection with WWE fans similar to CM Punk, all to have their momentum slowed down in some form.
