Khadija B. Wallace: Provides access to essentials for Eastern Ypsilanti Food Desert Residents Amidst COVID19 PANDEMIC

Special Guest:  Khadija Wallace, founder of Joyful Treats Community Development Corp. (501c3) has always been willing to serve her community with grace. As a result of the current COVID19 pandemic she has increased the frequency of her food distribution in the Eastern Ypsilanti Community. Khadija shares with us her gratitude to the United Way for providing funds to assist with continuing their efforts of addressing some of the critical needs and necessities of the Ypsilanti community. The African American population in Ypsilanti, MI has been disproportionately impacted by the COVID19 pandemic. Khadija B. Wallace

As a specialist in the business of culinary artistry, Khadija B. Wallace is the Founder and CEO of Joyful Treats Catering, LLC.

Khadija’s commitment to exceeding the expectations of her clients stems from a passion inspired by family. Khadija began her career during her childhood years, under the guidance of her grandmother catering for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Whenever the need to feed large groups arrived, Khadija did not think twice about lending a hand. Her willingness to assist her grandmother gave her a hands-on learning opportunity that she later used as a tool in building her own company.

Joyful Treats is the result of ideas conjured up one Sunday evening among family at the dinner table. Not only did Khadija want to find a way to express her love for food, but build a foundation which she could launch an inheritance for her children. Today, Joyful Treats is on the fast-track to securing a future for Khadija’s descendants, as she has successfully provided official catering services for the National Football League, Google, University of Michigan and the United Negro College Foundation’s Empowerment Tour.

Having worked in managerial positions in food, finance, collegiate and entertainment industries, Ms. Wallace brings over 25 years of professional experience. Her professional affiliations include the National Restaurant Association, Detroit Metro Conventions & Visitors Bureau, and the Michigan Food and Beverage Associations. In addition, she is currently serving as the Chairwoman of the Michigan Black Chamber of Commerce (MBCC) Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Charter, the Community Chair Member for the Washtenaw County Food Policy Council and a supporting Food Columnist for the Detroit Smart Pages. Additionally she is the proud mother of five.
