Episode 3: A Level Best
As the Government loosens lockdown and some secondary pupils are being invited back to school, languages teacher Mrs Cook talks to Year 12 students Maddy, Ruby and Toby. Studying for A levels and tasting independence at what should have been the time of their lives, everything changed overnight for these 17 years olds. They talk candidly about the ups and downs, coursework struggles, feeling judged and holding onto your dreams.
Episode 2: Kitchen Classrooms
Madame Cook gets to hear what’s been going on in the kitchen classrooms of three families with pupils at Tytherington. Parents Geoff & Sarah Bird, Ian Aldous and Andy Peal spill the beans on daily routines, long lunches and just how much studying is really going on during lockdown. They reflect on the value of independent learning and agree that what their children are missing most isn’t the lessons.
Episode 1: Teacher Tales
Teachers share their experiences of the first month of working from home with colleague Mrs Cook. Head of Modern Languages Department, Miss Roe, is running a team of a dozen staff from her flat; self-confessed technophobe Mrs Holley, Head of Year 8, is getting to grips with Zooming and Looming, and Special Educational Needs Coordinator, Mrs Healey, is writing letters to her students while worrying about how she’ll ever get out of leisurewear.
