The class of 2026 has started their classes at the UCSD School of Medicine, which means the search for the class of 2027 is underway. Today Dr. Kama Guluma takes time out of his busy schedule to give insights into the admissions process. We discuss UCSD's infamous secondary prompt, who UCSD looks for in a medical student, and changes that have happened in recent years.

iPads are now a thing at the UC San Diego School of Medicine! In its inaugural year, the iPad Initiative, now known formally as Triton MedTech, has put a new iPad and Apple pencil in the hands of every first year and second year medical student, free of charge! With endless possibilities for integration into and augmentation of our curriculum, I speak to Dr. Lina Lander, Associate Dean of Education Technology, Innovation and Assessment, and Tracy Nguyen, Student Innovations Group Leader for the class of 2023, about their expectations and hopes for this program going forward.

September is here, and the UC San Diego School of Medicine is once again, open for business.  A few weeks ago, the School of Medicine welcomed its new MS1 class with an orientation that was partially in-person in the face of COVID-19. Haley Moss, Class President for the class of 2023, tells us what it was like for returning medical students to be planning the annual welcoming event for the next wave of Student Doctors in San Diego.

Dear MS1's, this is undoubtedly an exciting but intense time for you. Just know that your fellow classmates, MS2s through MS4s, all have your back in this long journey ahead!

Student Doctors of San Diego is a podcast for everyone who wants to be in the know about exciting things going on here at the school of medicine. Whether you’re applying to medical school or you’re in the thick of it studying for your board exams, this podcast will be here to showcase new programs, curricular changes, the great work being done here by my peers, and overall, the unique and varying experiences of the UCSD medical student.
