This podcast was taken from one of my videos where I talked about How I got Two UX Design Jobs during a Pandemic. This story was mainly about my experience getting a UX Design job and dealing with a small startup in Austin, TX. I really wanted to move to Austin, but it almost cost me everything. UX Design is a valuable career, but you also have to know your value. Because companies will try to change things on you if they feel like they can. Stick to your gut and move forward.
Whenever you are dealing with these companies, don't just take the first offer they give you. Also, if they ask you how much do you make at your current job don't tell them, but If you do tell them, add 20 -30k to your current salary and give them that number. Also, never be afraid to turn down a position if you think it's not right for you.

Welcome to the UX Unicorns Podcast. My name is Eric Abrom and I'm a UX Designer living here in Atlanta, GA. I'm a recovering Graphic Designer who put down the bottle of photoshop and picked up Adobe XD. I've spent the last 10 years of my career making things look pretty, for the sake of looking pretty.
Over my career, I learned a lot about: Facebook Marketing, Linkedin Marketing, Google PPC, Conversions, Customer Retargeting, Sales Funnels, Email Campaigns, Motion Graphics, Photography, Videography, financing, taxes, etc. When I think about all the skills I developed, I realized a lot those skills could transfer as a UX Designer.
I became a UX Designer because I wanted a big change in my life. I wanted to design products that people actually wanted. Once I knew this was the career for me, I took a leap and started an Online UX Design Program and never looked back. The more I learn about UX the more I fall in love with it. It's the same feeling I got when I first learned how to create a square in Photoshop!
I wanted to create this podcast to tell my stories as a designer and have a little fun. You can find me at a few places on the internet.
