individuals.

#50 A story of love, loss and grief : "Make grief part of your self care" with Clarecia Christie

#50 A story of love, loss and grief : "Make grief part of your self care" with Clarecia Christie

SENSITIVE CONTENT: Today our host has a hard yet needed conversation with Clarecia Christie. She is an International Trade Consultant, an Educator and also an Advocate for Women Economic Empowerment and Poverty Reduction.

Clarecia, shares her intriguing story full of loss, love and grief . She also inspires us with a mixer of a colorful blend of hope, self-motivation  and rosy victories. 'My brother was angry', is how she repeatedly describes her own fears and anger of the traumatic experience of having to witness the lifeless body of her sweet mom lying on the cold hospital bed.

'There's no limit on your grieving', she sums the pain and the disappointment she felt—but, in a more beautiful smiling tone like a candle that lights up a very dark place, she ushers us into a brighter part of the conversation and leads it to a place where there's a common understanding, that grief is but a stormy clouds that ceases the sky through the night, only for the rains to come, clears it away and leaves the sky with a colorful rainbow that brightens our world again.

Clarecia encourages us to “ make grief as part of our self care” the work and support we use during our grieving opens up doors to healing then one can ever think.

#47 We made it to year 2: Lessons I picked up along the way & Spotify Wrapped

“It was all a dream” Haven spent the past 2 years of my life with this podcast has been a life altering experience. I was reflecting back where and how it all started and one thing I realized was, this Podcast started during my whole pregnancy process.

December 2nd 2020, I was pregnant and did not know it. I did not stop and even after giving birth and having a c-section which took forever to heal I was back behind the MIC doing what I now know how to do, holding space for my guest to share their experiences and knowledge.

During these 2 years I wanted to give up so bad, I invested time and money but felt I was not going anywhere. However, something changed in me when my guest started telling me about their experience on the podcast about how it made them feel and how it was healing to them.

Anyway all this to say UMAMI CONVERSATIONS ain't going anywhere we are growing expanding and taking dominion. We are going to ensure we continue to provide our listeners with the quality sound, stories and truths.

As we continue to grow into a new year and cycle we will be doing a lot of backend work. Which will require some R.E.S.T.

We encourage you all to still tune in on Thursdays for new episodes.

Make sure to take the time to tune into the last few episodes for season 3 and subscribe to our platform for more updates

Cheers to many more savory and healing conversations

I hesitated doing this because I did not want to seem like I am complaining. Anyways until another solo episode be blessed.

#31 Holistic Approach Series-Reiki &Mindfulness with Lea Candon pt.2

Today's episode is the second part of the deep conversation about Reiki and Mindfulness, we had with the inspiring mindfulness guide Lea Candon.  Lea was asked what inspires her: She answered that she found inspiration in pain, in solitude, in the feelings of rejections, the moments of loneliness when she found refuge in her inner wisdom. And after each one of these moments she rose so high from her rock bottoms.  What a powerful and profound statement!  We concluded this conversation by a beautiful quote which reminded us that Love is the source of Mindfulness. It ultimately equips us to better love the world around.  We invite you to open your heart and let yourself be inspired by her divine wisdom. Society has thought most of us that illness could only be healed through medication/surgery. Forgetting that in the ancient times when pharmacies where non-existent our forefathers had their own ways of healing many elements in the human body. They used herbs, massages, sound, movement just to name a few. Practices like Reiki, Mindfulness meditation, Yoga, Aromatherapy have been emerging and many our turning to a more holistic approach when it comes to their overall health. Is the holistic approach overrated or is this really a thing? In the next few series we converse with women that shares their journeys and stories about their Holistic way of life and service to the world.
