Advanced Concepts — Space holding vs Selfishness

After BDSM teacher Andy Buru came into The UNcivilized Nation and dropped this notion for all of us, I’ve been seeing how potent of an idea this is — balancing space holding and selfishness actually is. AND how confronting it is for so many people to lean into the one that’s not their natural way.

In this short solo episode I break down why being able to do both will change your sex life, your income, and your relationships at large.

Enjoy.
Please do share this with one person in your life, or twenty.

Cheers,

Traver

What to do when you find yourself lost in life

What to do when you find yourself lost in life

It happens. It happens to all of us. In fact it’s happened to me a few times in the past two years as well — that terrible feeling of being lost in your life.

In this short and sweet solo episode I share how I got myself back on track after getting jostled pretty hard by some deaths and a near death accident. I know these ideas work as I’ve also now taught them in numerous workshops.

Enjoy and please share this with someone in your life.

The Darkness - Part 2

The Darkness - Part 1

The Darkness - Part 1

Just imagine, 28 days in total darkness – now that's something wild, right?  Well, get ready to hear a wild journey through an interview.

In this episode, things take an interesting turn as the interviewer becomes the interviewee. Our dear Katie Sroka takes the host chair and delves into Traver's profound experience: spending 28 days in total darkness.

For those not in the loop, in 2016, Traver found himself locked in a pitch-black room in Guatemala, an event that would dramatically reshape his life. Throughout those demanding 28 days, he grappled with solitude and the absence of light, pushing his mental strength to its limits.

In that time, he battled to keep his sanity, wrestling with questions of who he was and what life meant to him. His understanding of mortality deepened as he contemplated his own life while immersed in the abyss.

Today, Traver no longer dreads death; he embraces it as a companion and motivator, propelling him to make the most of every moment in life. The darkness, once intimidating, has now become his home.

This is Part 1 of 2.

WHAT YOU WILL HEAR:

[03:28] The alternative perspective: Katie's viewpoint.

[09:51] What did Traver need to do during those days to maintain his mental well-being?

[14:39] How did the experience of darkness impact Traver after he left it?

[17:13] Traver's connection with death and his current perspective on it.

Let’s pop the Guru fantasy.

Let’s pop the Guru fantasy.

Howdy folks. In this short solo episode I talk about one of the blocks many people have when it comes to social media and the self development space — making the person they follow into a Guru.

After years spent in the trenches of the Self Development world, I can tell you — we are all human. And many people are not what they seem. At all.

Give this 10 minutes of your time and you’ll walk away with a fresh perspective on who you follow.

Enjoy and please share this with someone in your life.

How'd Traver Get UNcivilized? - Staff Interview with Erin

It's the third and final week for my team to interview me.

This week it's Erin, lovingly referred to as the Director of Traver (we'll explain that title in the podcast). Together we dove into what made and still makes Traver UNcivilized, and a few specific questions from a woman's perspective of how to connect with men. Our conversation perfectly rounds out this series and I hope you love it as much as I did.

Digging Deep into Traver's Brain - Staff Interview with Malina

It's week two for the Team at UNcivilized to interview me!

This week it's Malina, our Director of Operations, and let's just say she isn't thrilled about speaking into a microphone. But like a typical member of the UNcivilized world, she showed up full stop. She's asked me some very deep questions, in typical Malina fashion, and I just love her for it. She made me think and she made me feel. Enjoy!

The Mental App Founders — How men strengthen their mindset

The Mental App Founders — How men strengthen their mindset

Life is a short and unique journey that should be cherished and maximized to its fullest potential. It is crucial not only to prioritize our own personal growth but also to assist others in doing the same. In the modern era, we have become more conscious of the significance of mental health. However, despite being familiar with the subject, we often neglect our own internal struggles.

Mental health plays a fundamental role in many people's lives, and it is one of the main reasons why some men decide to take their own lives. It is disheartening to contemplate the lost lives that could have been saved if these individuals had sought help or received support from their loved ones.

In today's episode, we will have Anson Whitmer and Tyler Sheaffer as our guests. They will shed light on the importance of prioritizing mental health and introduce us to an application called Mental, specifically designed for men with a focus on mental health care.

Let us approach this topic with the seriousness it deserves and make a conscious effort to take care of our mental well-being. Seeking support is not a sign of weakness but a courageous act undertaken by strong individuals. It requires adopting a "badass" attitude, characterized by bravery and a willingness to confront and address our mental health challenges.

ABOUT ANSON WHITMER

When he was young, two close male relatives of his took their own lives. This experience motivated him to pursue a PhD in Neuroscience and develop the Calm app. Anson has personally witnessed how our current societal dialogue on mental health fails to resonate with men. It lacks a focus on men's specific needs. Considering that men account for 80% of suicides, addressing this crisis requires innovative approaches to support men's mental well-being.

Out of the thousands of mental health apps available, Mental is the first one that has been designed from the ground up with men in mind.

ABOUT  TYLER SHEAFFER

Tyler Sheaffer is a product engineer who played a pivotal role in building the Calm app. He dedicated his skills and expertise to the development of the app. Additionally, Tyler is an avid ocean paddler, engaging in this activity on a daily basis.
