Tales from the Hall of Dark Truths Episode 1: The Lemurian Timewar

Tales from the Hall of Dark Truths Episode 1: The Lemurian Timewar

Holy shit... The Lemurian Timewar. Sounds cool, right? Kind of intriguing, like the title of a Doctor Who episode, back when Doctor Who was interesting. In this first episode of our new series, examining paranormal & metaphysical mysteries, we dip into the cesspool that is the CCRU. The CCRU, or Cybernetic Culture Research Unit, were a collective of absolute scumbags who helped bring about the Clown World we’ve all been living in for the past 20+ years. God, I hate these people. Anyway, here’s the episode. Doc Casstles, YogaMidnight, Maeko, & your irrepressible Kung Fu Uncle give it their best as they tackle concepts like Hyperstition, & talk shit about almost everything else. Enjoy! In this installment, your favorite Kung Fu Uncle, "Metaphysical Polemarch" YogaMidnight, Backdoor Saboteur Maeko, & Great White Hunter Lloyd take a look at the various pop culture depictions of the special, Inner Power developed by Martial Arts training. Crossing Hands Episode 6: Alex Sender

Many years ago, when your Kung Fu Uncle worked in the decadent & corrupt cesspit that is the World of FINE Art, there emerged a man so fearsome, so terrifying, so overwhelmingly BALD that he was often mistaken for Lex Luthor, with the power & fury of a thousand screaming Conservatives who grew up in a Progressive, Liberal "city", that the weirdos & Soy Entities quaked in their booties. Kung Fu Discussion Group, Episode 9: Baguazhang

Kung Fu Discussion Group, Episode 9: Baguazhang

Baguazhang is a mystery to many people today. One of the last Classical Styles to be created in the late Qing Dynasty by the legendary Master Dong Haichuan; the youngest of the Big Three Internal Styles; famed for its complexity & beauty; feared for its inscrutability & power. And, unjustly, considered a fraud by many of the "practical" martial artists of today. It certainly doesn't help that most of the people demonstrating Baguazhang today are... less than impressive physical examples. Like Taijiquan before it, Baguazhang has suffered under the Soy drenched reputations of New Age, Spiritual-minded "teachers". In this episode, "Mr Ruthless" Uncle Sickness, "Metaphysical Polemarch" YogaMidnight, & "Human Calamity" Maeko explore, in a rambling fashion, the strong points, specialties, & personalities of this fascinating masterwork that stands as the peak of Martial Arts creativity.  Lessons Learned in the World of Martial Arts Sickness Kung Fu Store Books by Uncle Sickness The Sickness Kung Fu Email List

Kung Fu Discussion Group, Episode 8: Martial Ethics & The Code of the Xia

Kung Fu Discussion Group, Episode 8: Martial Ethics & The Code of the Xia

This episode is all about the Ethical aspect of practicing Martial Arts. The Triple Alliance of Volcano Hands Uncle Sickness, Metaphysical Polemarch YogaMidnight, & Human Calamity Maeko compare Martial Ethics & the Code of the Xia. "But Uncle," you say, "I have no idea what any of that means!! I don't own a Sickness Kung Fu Hoodie!" Allow me to explain. Today, students are taught a set of virtues influenced by Confucian social norms referred to as "武德/Wu De - Martial Ethics". It consists of two sets of virtues: one outlining the etiquette for interacting with other Martial Artists, the other outlining a method of cultivating one's character. In contrast, the wandering Heroes of Martial Arts fiction followed a different set of principles, known as the Code of the Xia. These are two very different sets of values, formed by two almost diametrically opposed viewpoints. Martial Ethics are intended to shape Martial Artists into well rounded members of society, while the Code of the Xia lays out a way of life built around individual expression. Which will you choose: fulfilling your duty to society, or walking your own path?  Lessons Learned in the World of Martial Arts Sickness Kung Fu Hoodies Books by Uncle Sickness The Sickness Kung Fu Email List
