On July 25, 2000 Air France Concorde Flight 4590 struck runway debris during takeoff, and crashed into a nearby hotel just two minutes later.  

The devastating impact of the crash led to the end of the Concorde Era of Supersonic Travel.

The American Airlines Flight 191 Disaster | Worst Plane Crash in American History

On the afternoon of May 25, 1979, American Airlines Flight 191 crashed shortly after takeoff from Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.  A money saving but potentially deadly maintenance procedure caused the left engine to detach during takeoff, sending 273 people to their deaths.

The Tenerife Airport Disaster - Deadliest Plane Crash in History

On March 27, 1977 two Boeing 747 Passenger Jets collided on a foggy runway on the island of Tenerife.  The collision claimed the lives of 583 passengers and crew.  

The accident is the tale of a series of incidents, ranging from a diversion to a much smaller airport,  to a Captain in a rush to take off.
