I’ve always wanted to create an anthem for Pop and his “Get Fresh” brand. Why? ‘Cause Juan “Popeye” Andino III has built something special during the last 20 years. He’ll tell you he’s only a barber, but the dude does so much more. From cuts to clothing, fitness to fashion, Pop is a hustler and over the years he’s even taken the time to promote what I do as a music artist. He’s let me hold clothes for video shoots, put my music up at his shop, promoted shows I’ve done, so making an anthem for his brand just seems like a no-brainer. It’s just a rough draft, but I finally have the foundation for the anthem. GET FRESH!!
So, I headed down to the Music Theory School’s Beat Clinic in Norfolk, Virginia, put together by Nottz Raw, Daryl Sloan and their team. Who was in attendance? Bumpy Knuckles, Diamond D, Mr. Porter, Lord Finesse and more. Take a listen and you’ll find out who, as well as my thoughts.
Coach Jared Terrell started wrestling at age 5 and learned early what hard work, focus and discipline was about. Understanding nothing comes easy he took those values with him to pursue music and talks to me about mistakes he’s made, people he admires and supporting his team at all cost.
Uncle Ronald is one of my role models. When we were young, the talk was about how he went to College on a basketball scholarship and shooting for the NBA. Over the years though, we saw much more than sports out of Uncle Ronald, from him starting and nurturing is own family to helping folks that have found themselves in the system. I'm sure you will find a jewel or two in this episode.

So while booking some upcoming shows. I ran into this lovely couple, Iggy and Kelly. They own a venue called Graffiti Dog out in Galloway, NJ, which is minutes from Atlantic City. Iggy and Kelly seemed to be some very laid back cats, so I asked them if I could do a podcast with them. Here it goes.

This year had it's ups and downs, like any other year. No matter what happened though, the hustle never stopped and neither did we. I started this podcast on a whim, after downloading the Anchor app and heading to Get Fresh Barber Shop.
Little did I know, I would have so many great conversations with so many great people. For the year end wrap up though, I wanted to highlight the person I had the most conversations with. My barber, friend and fellow hustler, @TheRealGetFresh.
See you all in 2019! Happy New Year!!
For those of you who of you that stuck with me through this podcasting journey, I thank you. I talk about what’s next to come for the New Year and solicit feedback from the listeners. Please leave a voicemail and I’ll play it on the show.
These type of episodes you're going to get often. Why? Even when I'm not getting a haircut, I like to pass by the shop and just kick it with Popeye aka Juan Andino, III. Pop is a very charismatic, high energy, in your face type of character. Love him or hate him, it doesn't matter, because he's going to continue doing him. The hustle is definitely real. Check him out at @therealgetfresh on IG. He also owns the @createabeast and @get_fresh_barber_shop brands.
Joey Craps is an excellent bassist and member of the “Life Metal” band, Ashes of Your Enemy. In part 2 of the Music Lover’s series, I talk with Joey at Modern Times Tattoo Shop in Spotswood, New Jersey. He’s a hustler for real, as you’ll find. We talked about everything from him landing record deals to Joey juggling multiple jobs and Family. All the while, Music is the motivator!
Put a couple of music lovers in a room and they’ll talk for hours, days, maybe even weeks. My friend Ron D. is an excellent drummer and fellow music lover, so shooting the sh*t with him is always a good time. He knows his music and plays practically every week so younger struggling musicians may be able to pick up a few tips. This is part 1 of 2 for the music lovers series.
15 years ago I met Shottie over the Internet. We went from being fans of each other’s music, to creating music videos together and becoming good friends. Now Shottie’s rocking his own business 24/7! Shotwellproductions.net
