Rachel & Dave Hollis | "RISE" & "RISE Together" Podcasts | Critique & Review | Fans' Reviews & Betrayal
ūüáļūüáł USA¬† Vanessa Lech Around the Web: https://linktr.ee/govanessalech ¬† Podcast location:‚Ā† https://anchor.fm/unraveledhumanbehavior ¬† Title: Rachel & Dave Hollis | "RISE" & "RISE Together" Podcasts | Critique & Review | Fans' Reviews & Betrayal¬† "RISE" podcast "Episode 150 Embrace The Suck" by Rachel Hollis & the "RISE Together" Podcast with Dave Hollis. The Hollis's have continued onward with their podcasting. In the "RISE" podcast Episode 150 "Embrace The Suck" by Rachel Hollis, there was a lot of deflecting and NOT addressing the very legitimate questions that many of their fans actually have. A new sales pitch was delivered about her latest book written during COVID-19. Book Title is, " Didn't See That Coming" but both Dave & Rachel Hollis saw it coming according to their recent Instagram divorce announcement posts. ¬† Parts of this podcast reminded me of the whole nanny situation briefly mentioned in the book, "Girl Stop Apologizing" where in my opinion, Rachel Hollis minimized her critics, deflected and referred to the criticism as essentially mommy shaming. Rachel Hollis definitely did NOT own monetizing and giving out marriage advice while her own marriage was failing. Instead, she shifts to positioning herself as a victim, in my opinion. Rachel Hollis is NOT a victim. Rachel Hollis is a socioeconomically advantaged woman with a high position in our society with access to vast resources that most Americans can not even fathom. ūüáļūüáł USA¬† Vanessa Lech Around the Web: https://linktr.ee/govanessalech ¬† Podcast:‚Ā† https://anchor.fm/unraveledhumanbehavior ¬† Amanda Peet plays Betty Broderick & Christian Slater plays Dan Broderick in Season 2 of Dirty John, The Betty Broderick Story. ¬†(Video version of this podcast - https://youtu.be/UFJY3LR35gE) Episodes briefly mentioned: ¬†¬† "S2 EP5 Scream Therapy"¬† ¬†"S2 EP4 More to It Than Fun"¬† ¬†"S2 EP3 Marriage Encounter" ¬† Dave Hollis's latest Instagram post after his & Rachel Hollis's divorce announcement briefly mentioned. ¬† Subtitle Disclaimer: Subtitles autogenerated, thus there will be errors. Thank you for your understanding in advance. Below, a partial & incomplete autogenerated transcript from the video: ¬† critique & review. ¬†¬† Episode 4, more to it than fun was the 1st episode I saw of this season, where I was actually. Somewhat impressed with the presentation of material. As I've mentioned before, and I have a whole podcast on this, I read the book, hell hath no fury. It was a very good book ¬†¬†And it appeared to be kind of like investigative journalism and it was published many years ago, but it's the best book that I have found in my view. Of the story. And it had a lot of information and facts and quotes from people from court records and from news articles and just the whole saga. And it was very informative, way more informative than the TV show has been because you can't get that in depth, in such a short period of time. ¬†And I could see this as being realistically depicted in this episode, more likely than not however.¬† Rachel Hollis still has not posted anything new to Instagram. She had said she was gonna take a break after her divorce announcement ¬†Dave Hollis did post a happy father's day post just. So that was nice family friendly. And I'm kind of curious on how the social media will be used by Dave Hollis, moving forward. ¬†I'm wondering if he'll be using it for business endeavors that he has in the future. ¬†¬†Rachel Hollis has remained silent on Instagram References from this podcast: ¬† "Hell Hath No Fury: A True Story of Wealth and Passion, Love and Envy, and a Woman Driven to the Ultimate Revenge" by Bryna Taubman https://www.amazon.com/Hell-Hath-No-Fury-Ultimate-ebook/dp/B00606F5SK/ref=sr_1_3?crid=M2T00QP2B0ZV&dchild=1&keywords=betty+broderick+book&qid=1593075040&s=books&sprefix=betty+broderi%2Cstripbooks%2C258&sr=1-3 ¬† USA Network Betty Broderick Story https://www.usanetwork.com/tag/dirty-john-the-betty-broderick-story ¬† Netflix now airing Dirty John Season 1 ¬†https://www.netflix.com/title/80241855 ¬† Dave Hollis Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mrdavehollis/?hl=en DISCLAIMER: ¬†Information included in this social media post/video & description are for informational, entertainment &/or¬†educational purposes only. Critique & Review of Rachel Hollis Book "Girl Stop Apologizing" Covering The "Introduction, What If"
ūüáļūüáł USA Vanessa Lech Around the Web: https://linktr.ee/govanessalech ¬† Subtitle Disclaimer: Many of the subtitles are autogenerated, thus there will be errors. Thank you for your understanding in advance. ¬† Hi, this is Vanessa here, and today's topic is going to be about. The critique and review that I am doing of the book girl, stop apologizing by Rachel Hollis. No, I did not make up that name. That's Rachel Hollis's books name, not mine. So the introduction is where I'm going to start introduction what if. ¬†So my thoughts overall is that I was actually pleasantly surprised that the messaging on this specific section, the introduction was overall positive and good. So that was good. My favorite bit was the part encouraging women to leave toxic relationships. And that is something whether you're, a woman or a man, that is always a good thing. ¬†And she also acknowledges that she's not an expert or a professional, which is good. Part 2: Dave & Rachel Hollis Divorce News on IG. Upcoming Book Critique of "Girl Stop Apologizing".
ūüáļūüáł USA¬† Vanessa Lech Around the Web: https://linktr.ee/govanessalech ¬† This is Part 2 of the Dave & Rachel Hollis Divorce announcement on social media.¬† Dave Hollis posted on his Instagram his own divorce announcement, which I was previously unaware of. I was only aware of Rachel Hollis's Instagram divorce announcement in Part 1 (https://youtu.be/eXTMx0ZsKK8). ¬† In Part 1 (https://youtu.be/eXTMx0ZsKK8) & 2 videos, I comment on Dave & Rachel Hollis's educational background and that it is not that of a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, etc. ¬†¬† Many of the Hollis fan are posting online about being upset and explaining that they financially invested in various products that the couple offered taking advice into their lives quite literally. I think that this is sad. ¬† I reference educational and work information on their respective Linkedin profiles. I reflect upon the American Family Court System and its impact upon families as well as the entire American legal system and its impact upon society. ¬†I reflect upon my recent memory of a Rachel Hollis Instagram post that I became aware of that she has turned in her, "10th book to the publisher." a number of weeks prior to the divorce announcement on Instagram. ¬†This makes me wonder exactly what the topic of this book even is. Is it a rendition of her last 2 books, "Girl Stop Apologizing" & Girl Wash Your Face" or is the speculation true that a Divorce and/or Co-Parenting Book is in the works. Who Knows!?!? ¬†¬†What do you think?¬† I bring up the Divorce and relationship of Betty and the late Dan Broderick currently airing on "USA" Season 2 of the "Dirty John" franchise. ¬†¬†Are you watching it? ¬† References and Related Material: ¬† "Rachel "RISE" Hollis Divorce Announcement on Instagram. Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story Airing on The USA Network (Critique of Season 2, The first few episodes)
ūüáļūüáł USA This podcast is about "Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story Airing on The USA Network (Critique of Season 2, The first few episodes)" On this podcast, I will give my critique of "Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story Airing on The USA Network Season 2, The first few episodes. Originally, I planned to give a synopsis of each of the episodes but I am so incredibly disappointed by the show thus far that I had to turn it into a full critique of the first 2 or 3 episodes instead. Yep, that's right! In this podcast, I also cover the topic of domestic violence.
Toxic Relationships & Healthy Boundaries Example.....
ūüáļūüáł USA https://linktr.ee/govanessalech Here is An Example Where Healthy Boundaries Are Needed: Choosing what type of individual(s) that you want and need to surround yourself with. For example, a celebrity stated during a media interview that, ‚Äú........All of my friends just get me into fights and trouble.‚ÄĚ After listening to the full interview; it is my opinion, that it sounds like this celebrity has had unhealthy boundaries that have resulted in numerous toxic relationships where she gets ‚Äú....into fights and trouble‚ÄĚ. Developing healthy boundaries that you are able to maintain can and will help you: Avoid getting ‚Äúinto fights and trouble‚ÄĚ. Refrain from developing toxic relationships. Include healthier individual(s) in your life. Steer clear of toxic individual(s). Can you identify past or present toxic relationship(s) in your life? Boundaries & anger management, frustration, irritation & other emotions!
Many people struggle with anger, irritation, frustration and other emotions. I have learned the key components that cause many people to struggle with their anger, irritation, frustration and other emotions. I have learned this information after having worked with countless people through the years. Currently, I am working on publishing a book on anger management for people who are licensed as behavioral health clinicians to work with people who want or need to control/manage their anger. Currently, this book is written in English, but someday I hope to translate it into Spanish to reach more people. In my opinion, one of the key components of anger management are boundaries.
This podcast will provide tips on how to manage people that you love and people that you hate this holiday season so that hopefully you can have a more functional life and a more joyful holiday season. A monitored exchange is a service provided by certain police departments, community resource centers and counseling centers. A monitored exchange is where co-parents can utilize a safe and neutral location to exchange their children for the purpose of supervised visitation. Some co-parents may be court ordered to utilize monitored exchanges while others do so voluntarily due to ongoing conflicts. svnworldwide.org/providers.asp is a website where some monitored exchange centers choose to be located. Recently, I have noticed that there are a number of co-parenting resources via various websites and apps that offer a myriad of communication tools for co-parents. Some of these co-parenting resources feature: * Enabling judges, lawyers, mediators to access and monitor ongoing communication. * Calendars to schedule children's activities. * Coordination of payment for childrens' needs. Many people struggle with difficult n' laws. Thus it may be worth considering having difficult relatives: * Stay in a neutral location such as a hotel. * Having a holiday dinner with family in a neutral location such as a restaurant. * Visit at neutral community holiday events away from non-neutral relatives' homes or your home. Ready for Therapy?
Today’s topic is Ready for therapy? It occurred to me as I have worked with people over the last number of years that many people that enter into therapy are not actually ready for therapy. Some misconceptions about therapy: * Therapists have a magic wand with fairy dust that they can wave around and magically solve everyone’s problems. This is FALSE. * Therapy is not work. You show up to therapy and when you walk out, all of your problems are magically solved. This is FALSE. The fact of the matter is that therapy is and should be work for the therapist and for the client (the person receiving therapy). If this is not happening then there is likely a problem here. Therapists when appropriate can and should provide: * Insight * Recommendations * Education Clients (Person Receiving Therapy) should: * Consider the recommendations. * Consider the information being given. * Ask their therapist questions. * Actively engage in the therapy session. * Leave therapy with some insight into their problem(s). * Have an understanding into what steps need to be taken next in order to move forward in their lives. What people need to know and understand is that therapy is a commitment for most people of both time and money. A person needs to be prepared to invest their time and their money into therapy with the intention of functioning at a higher level in life. Not every person is a good fit for every therapist and vice versa. I’ve compared therapist to plumbers in the past. Not every plumber is going to be able to unclog your toilet and not every therapist is going to be able to help you solve your problems. The best way to know that you’re ready for therapy is….Are you willing to: * Take time out of your schedule for therapy? * Change habits that you’ve grown attached to? * Come in with an open mind to receive new information or information that you may not be excited about but that may actually help you? A Client (Person Receiving Therapy) has every right to reject information and recommendations from a therapist and ultimately to exit therapy. However, it is important to consider that the person may never actually end up solving the problems that they came to therapy to solve in the first place unless they choose to make different choices in their life and consider the information being provided. Toxic Work Environments
The topic for today is Toxic Work Environments. I am covering this topic because it seems to be everywhere. Toxic Work Environments is a topic that I can NOT avoid. When you look at the history of America, work has not been pretty nor easy. Agricultural work and the industrial revolution transformed America over time. Eventually, leading to laws that were supposed to protect workers. However, it has become clear that many employers have become excellent at NOT complying with modern day labor laws or even common decency. Bullying, mobbing, discrimination, harassment, intimidation, retaliation and more have become common in today's workplace. These behaviors are despicable and inexcusable but nevertheless they are occurring. In the news it has caught my attention that numerous former NFL cheerleaders are taking various legal action(s) against their former NFL teams due to alleged toxic work environments. The cheerleaders allege many specifics and you can read more about this below. Here are just a couple of the news articles about this: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/01/sports/nfl-cheerleaders-lawsuit-.html https://www.npr.org/2018/04/15/602490797/an-nfl-cheerleader-brings-her-firing-over-an-instagram-photo-to-the-eeoc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDTqU2m_Tn0 Some of my colleagues have described an increase in the number of clients seen for workplace related issues. Many times these individuals are being seen through Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). In my opinion, toxic work environments have reached epidemic proportions. Individuals are seeking help from their health care providers to excuse them from work for a period of time in order to recover. Increasingly, people are struggling with ill health, addiction(s) and anger management related issue(s) due to toxic work environments. Here is a recent book relevant to this topic, "Dying for a Paycheck: How Modern Management Harms Employee Health and Company Performance‚ÄĒand What We Can Do About It", written by: Jeffrey Pfeffer. It may be hard to believe but I found that behavioral health clinicians face much the same. This prompted me to write a book entitled: "Burn Out Self Care for Behavioral Health Clinicians". Toxic work environments prompted me to open up my own company, so that I could determine my own working conditions. Here are some potential signs of a toxic work environment: * Name Calling. * Blatant discrimination. * Ongoing favoritism towards certain workers. * Sexually harassing behavior. * Supervisor(s) behaving erratically. * Being overworked. * Bait and switch tactics. * NOT being paid for work. * NOT treating an individual(s) with respect and dignity. Are you working in a toxic work environment? Are you a Counselor, A Therapist or other type of Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician? If so, you may be interested in a book I wrote called, "Burn Out Self Care for Behavioral Health Clinicians" 2nd Edition Check it out at: ¬†TherapistAssets.com AKA https://www.vanessalechshop.com/ Podcast Link: https://anchor.fm/unraveledhumanbehavior Love this content? Video Game Addiction
Video Game Addiction is relatively unknown but an article published in June 2018 by the New York Times is beginning to change all of that. The World Health Organization has formally recognized "gaming disorder" in the organization's International Classification of Diseases. According to the New York Times Article, "2.6 billion people play video games, including two-thirds of American households". Current revenue from video game purchases is high now and the video game industry is considered largely unregulated compared to other industries of similar size. According to the New York Times Article, "annual revenue for the industry is expected to grow 31 percent to $180.1 billion globally within three years". To me, it is clear that as a result of the large sums of money being earned inside of the video gaming industry that the industry would state that the Word Health Organization's position is, "deeply flawed" due to their clear conflict of interest. According to the New York Times Article, research is showing that "young players" are becoming "addicted to their games". Asia is tackling the problem proactively by setting up, arranging and funding rehabilitation centers that assist those addicted to video games. South Korea prohibits young gamers from playing between the hours of midnight and 6 am. Video Game Addiction is one of many types of addiction that exist. Addiction will likely increase as technology continues to become an imperative part of our lives. Opioid ‚ÄúCrisis‚ÄĚ Unraveled - How it came to be‚Ķ..
Almost nothing happens overnight & almost everything & everyone has a backstory. The current opioid situation is no exception. In my opinion, the news media fails to adequately cover the full backstory of the opioid situation. Instead, in my opinion, the news media amplifies the opioid situation to increase revenue from their advertisers, which provides a complete disservice to the public. Long before the opioid ‚Äúcrisis‚ÄĚ hit the news media, I had a front row seat and was completely unaware. I was working at a large organization with multiple locations when I began to notice questionable prescribing practices specifically with opioids. I brought my concerns to the leadership in my department whom promptly ignored me and did nothing to address the issues. I ended up resigning from that organization. Shortly thereafter, I noticed that a news story began to appear slowly about a behavioral health care clinician at a different location of the organization that I had worked for. The behavioral health care clinician had observed and reported some of the exact same things that I had observed & reported. The outcome at this other location was tragic. Later on I ended up working at a different organization that had multiple locations. There were pharmaceutical reps bringing very nice lunches on a weekly basis as they pitched their drug(s). The prescriber at this location was never present and was very vocal about their refusal to participate in the lunches or speak with any of the pharmaceutical reps. In my experience, the pharmaceutical reps were decent hard working people trying to earn a living. One of these pharmaceutical reps shared with me that they had successfully persuaded all of the prescribers at the other locations of this organization to switch their patients to using this one drug that they were pitching on behalf of the pharmaceutical company that employed them. It was VERY clear to me at this point exactly how much of a conflict of interest was present. Much of the current news coverage about opioids now focuses on pharmaceutical companies & how prescribers were marketed to. All anyone has to do is type in the key words ‚Äúopioids‚ÄĚ ‚Äúpharmaceutical companies‚ÄĚ in a search engine to find a plethora of news coverage on this topic. In my area of the country where I have worked, I have noticed that people have turned to heroin in the streets since being turned away from prescribers that now are facing mounting pressure to reevaluate their prescribing practices. In my experience, many have not been well educated about their treatment options. In my opinion, increasingly the government seems to be having a knee jerk reaction to this opioid situation, which is making matters much worse. There are unscrupulous people that are preying upon the vulnerable drug addicted and dependent to increase their profit margins at this time in our country. Based upon my observations, most are unaware. As I stated before, almost nothing happens overnight and this opioid situation is no exception. Opioids are one problem but not the only prescription drug problem. In my opinion, this opioid situation is a symptom of a much larger problem. An ecosystem has been created that allowed this set of problems to occur and that needs to be corrected first. Opioid Use Disorder - Unraveled
DISCLAIMER: This information is for informational and educational purposes only. This does not establish a clinical relationship with anyone. A licensed clinician that is experienced and competent is needed to properly diagnose anyone. Clinical discretion is needed for accurate diagnosis of any individual. Please consult with a licensed behavioral health clinician for personalized assistance in your situation. Thank you. Today, I will briefly go over Opioid Use Disorder and the different levels of severity (Mild, Moderate and Severe). The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5th edition DSM-5 is published by the American Psychiatric Association and is used by countless Behavioral Health Clinicians. More information can be found online at the following website: https://psychiatryonline.org/ I am providing this information because so many people that I‚Äôve encountered in my daily life are mystified and confused by many aspects of Behavioral Health. The following information is NOT complete, comprehensive nor exhaustive. Instead, the following information is a very basic and general overview of the diagnostic criteria of Opioid Use Disorder and is being directly quoted from The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5th edition DSM-5, published by the American Psychiatric Association: ‚ÄúOpioids are often taken in larger amounts or over a longer period then was intended.‚ÄĚ ‚ÄúThere is a persistent desire or unsuccessful efforts to cut down or control opioid use.‚ÄĚ ‚ÄúA great deal of time is spent in activities necessary to obtain the opioid, use the opioid, or recover from its effects.‚ÄĚ1 ‚ÄúCraving, or a strong desire or urge to use opioids. ‚ÄúRecurrent opioid use resulting in a failure to fulfill major role obligations at work, school, or home.‚ÄĚ ‚ÄúContinued opioid use despite having persistent or recurrent social or interpersonal problems caused or exacerbated by the effects of opioids.‚ÄĚ ‚ÄúImportant social, occupational, or recreational activities are given up or reduced because of opioid use.‚ÄĚ ‚ÄúRecurrent opioid use in situations in which it is physically hazardous.‚ÄĚ ‚ÄúContinued opioid use despite knowledge of having a persistent or recurrent physical or psychological problem that is likely to have been caused or exacerbated by the substance.‚ÄĚ There are additional specific criteria to assess for tolerance and withdrawal to the substance, which are opioids in this case. The levels of severity (Mild, Moderate and Severe) are based upon how many symptoms are present in the individual. If you believe that you or someone that you care about may have a problem with opioids, then please locate the services of a professional behavioral health clinician in your area. Psychological Abuse Versus Physical Abuse in Domestic Violence
Psychological Abuse Versus Physical Abuse in Domestic Violence Through the years that have I worked with clients, I have come to the realization that many people have absolutely no idea that psychological abuse is a form of domestic violence. Psychological abuse can be much more damaging and long lasting to a person than a bruise. However, the stereotype is still being perpetuated that the primary form of domestic violence is physical abuse towards another person. I elaborate on this in my other blog post, podcast and vlog entitled: ‚ÄúDomestic Violence Stereotypes‚ÄĚ. Here are some of the things that I have learned through the years about psychological abuse in domestic violence throughout my work. * Psychological abuse often involves belittling, demeaning, insulting and/or nitpicking a person. * Based upon my work experience, psychological abuse is more common than physical abuse in domestic violence. This is likely due to psychological abuse being harder to detect than physical abuse. * Psychological abuse can be created and perpetuated by dysfunctional relationship dynamics, which do NOT teach nor promote respect, healthy communication, boundaries, etc. Psychological abuse often involves violating healthy boundaries that the victim has established for themselves. * Psychological abuse can cause long lasting damage to a person‚Äôs self esteem. * Psychological abuse often involves gaslighting. * Psychological abuse is all about securing and exerting power and control over another person. Unlike physical injuries, psychological abuse is invisible but can absolutely devastate the victim. Psychological abuse can confuse the victim into believing that they are NOT being abused (i.e. [because the person] ‚Äúdoesn‚Äôt beat me and doesn‚Äôt cheat on me.‚ÄĚ]. Psychological abuse and domestic violence are complex topics worthy of our time and of our consideration. This is just some of the information that I have learned through the years about psychological abuse in domestic violence throughout my work. I don't share my needles with anyone except.....
Unfortunately, many people believe that if they only share their needles with their girlfriend, their boyfriend, their brother, their sister, their mother, their father, etc……. then they think that they won't contract a disease, but this is FALSE. Hepatitis C and HIV are common among IV drug users. You can still contract Hepatitis C and HIV even if you only share needles with one person that you love and that you trust. That one person that you love and that you trust could be sharing needles with Susie Q down the street whom is sharing drug paraphernalia with everyone and their mother in their drug using community. This is very common. This is how communicable diseases are spread. If you are going to use needles, then purchase clean needles or use needle exchanges. Syringe Exchange Programs
In no way, shape or form do I promote the use of illicit substance(s). I DO promote harm reduction for a variety of reasons including but not limited to: preventing the spread of communicable diseases. This will focus on syringe exchange. The basic public health reason for syringe exchange is to prevent the spread of communicable diseases. I have worked with countless individuals that are addicted and dependent upon various substances. Drug paraphernalia is often employed to use various substances. Often times drug users will use their illicit substances in community with other addicts. Substances and drug paraphernalia are then shared. For many, drug use is a communal, community and recreational activity that evolves into more of a daily grind as the addiction and dependence intensifies upon the substance(s). As I continued to observe this trend; I could not help but think about the inherent public health hazard that is present. My work experience has shown me that most people will NOT quit all of their substance(s) immediately. Instead, quitting takes time. Entering recovery tends to be a gradual process and relapse is likely. Therefore, syringe exchange programs matter and can work to serve the public interest through preventing the spread of communicable diseases. Of course, syringe exchange programs are not a silver bullet. It is more a piece of the puzzle inside of a complex problem in desperate need of practical solutions. It is a devastating, harsh and cold reality to see individuals infected with Hepatitis C and HIV first hand as I have countless times. One of my 2 Master’s Degrees has a concentration in Public Health. My prior work (2008 - 2012) as a Soldier in the U.S. Army focused on public health. As a result, it is my continued to desire and interest to serve the public health through educating people about how to prevent the spread of communicable diseases when and where possible. I do NOT judge and instead aim to serve others with empathy and compassion as this will best serve the greater good and the public interest. Being treated with respect and dignity matters. Domestic Violence Stereotypes
ūüáļūüáł USA https://linktr.ee/govanessalech Domestic violence can occur between anyone. Countless times I have observed in my work that domestic violence is occurring most commonly between family members in their homes and in their communities. This challenges the stereotype of a man beating his woman and a woman with a black eye. This stereotype is frequently depicted and communicated all over domestic violence materials (i.e. in images, on websites and brochures) and in domestic violence messaging (i.e. power and control wheels and educational presentations). Domestic violence materials and the messaging about domestic violence NEEDS to become much more inclusive. Here are some things that I have learned through the years about domestic violence in my work. Men are frequently victims of domestic violence from their female significant other. Psychological abuse is a VERY common form of domestic violence. Various family members can become victims or could become perpetrators of domestic violence. Domestic violence is a problem often created and perpetuated by dysfunctional family dynamics, which do NOT teach nor promote respect, healthy communication, boundaries, etc. Male victims of domestic violence are often embarrassed and afraid that people will NOT believe them. Female perpetrators of domestic violence can and have taken advantage of the domestic violence stereotypes in order to hide their behavior towards their male significant other. Domestic violence can occur in any relationship. Male military service members can be and have been victims of domestic violence. Child abuse survivors are much more likely to become involved in a relationship that involves domestic violence. Substance abusers are frequently victims of domestic violence. This is just some of the information that I have learned through the years about domestic violence in my work.
