#6 Communication is Key
On the latest episode of our podcast, Unreal Counseling, we talk all about Communication. We discuss how to be clear with someone who means a lot to you and how to convey your messages in a meaningful way. One huge aspect of communication that we discuss is the idea of listening. It is so important to listen to your significant other instead of crafting up a response in your head while they are speaking.  We discuss stories of great communication as well as some stories that involve very poor communication. We also talk about the worksheet "20 Simple Ways to Stay Close" and how it relates to the topic of communication. You can find the worksheet here. Please continue to send in your questions, situations and scenarios so we can talk about them in future episodes. Check out Counseling for Busy People's website for more engaging content.

#5 It's Time to Stop Beating Yourself Up!
In this episode we are talking about how women never think they're enough and how they constantly beat themselves up for not being perfect. It's all okay, no one is perfect! We discuss stories of women that are always breaking the rules compared to a story of another woman who is always adhering to the rules and "coloring inside the lines." We go over some helpful tips about how you can use the characteristics that you don't love about your self to motivate you to be better. We also touch on the difference between keeping the feelings bottled up and expressing your feelings to others.  At the end of the episode we discuss the importance of being real with people. No one likes a perfect person - and no one is perfect! Whether it's in a relationship or in a job interview, people like to hear raw stories instead of a made up personality.  Check out our exciting new content on the Counseling for Busy People website and let us know what other topics or ideas that you would like us to talk about. You can simply drop Lisa a line at lisa@counselingforbusypeople.com to let us know what is on your mind.  Hope you enjoyed our latest episode! Thanks again, and take great care! 😘

#3 Remedies for Mending a Broken Heart
In our 3rd episode to wrap up the end of this brutal year we are talking about broken hearts! While the main idea of the episode is focused on being heartbroken after a relationship, we also discuss broken hearts when it comes to losing a loved one, losing a job or losing a pet. Heartbreaks are always difficult and it may influence you to sulk in your own sorrows, but we are here to get you moving again! We talk all about the strategies that you can use to overcome a broken heart. Whether it is using the heartbreak as a motivating factor to get you into the gym or getting you out of your comfort zone to start putting yourself out there again, there are plenty of ways to distract yourself from thinking about an old lover.  Throughout this episode we go over scenarios that have happened with friends and family to evaluate which ways are healthy ways to get over a break-up. Maybe you need to dwell on things in your room for a day or two, but all that sulking and not moving can be detrimental to your happiness! After you take a few days to feel sorry for yourself, it is time to get back out there and make yourself happy again. Just simply moving into a different room in your house will help!  At the end of the episode we go over 20 helpful remedies for mending a broken heart. The document we reference was created by Lisa Ryan and can be found here. Be sure to send in your topics, stories, situations and more and we would be happy to talk about them on future episodes. #2 Establishing Boundaries
On our second episode we cover all of the boundaries...literally. We talk about boundaries with family members, friends, relationships and more. We go over a situation where a girlfriend was not invited to Christmas because of the boyfriend's family as well as parental tendencies such as being worried about the virus or not wanting to entertain. On the topic of boundaries, we also cover sharing locations. Is it healthy to ask to share locations with your significant other? Is it OK if they don't want to?  We also discuss a story of girlfriends hanging out with their boyfriend's friends and vice-versa. Do some people make more sacrifices than others? Should you be able to hangout with your partner's friends even if you are the lone girl/boy in the room? What are some common things that men and women do with their friends? Is it only sports and gaming for guys and only gossip for girls?  At the end of the episode we go over the "Killer One-Liners That Build Strong Boundaries." This document can be found here and here. Be sure to check out Counseling for Busy People for more great content! The second episode of our Unreal Therapy podcast has a great theme for he holiday season. Listen along and let us know what you think about these situations. Get in touch with us to let us know what topics or scenarios you want us to cover next. #1 Our First Podcast!
Welcome to Unreal Therapy hosted by Lisa Ryan & Maki Mandelis! This is our first podcast ever so we didn't have much structure in this episode, but we talked about relationships, the differences between men and women's perspectives, the benefits of anonymous online therapy and much more playful banter.  Lisa Ryan is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been saving relationships for over 18 years. She specializes in infidelity, trust building and identifying the root cause of relationship issues. She has seen thousands of clients over the past 18 years of her private practice and now she is developing a membership website called Counseling for Busy People that is designed to help women with fun workshops, quizzes, videos, webinars and more. Maki Mandelis is a Communication Specialist who was hired by Lisa in early October. Maki is the one behind all of the digital content that you see on Counseling for Busy People. Maki's role on the podcast is to show a younger male's perspective of relationship problems and solutions. Although the podcast and the Counseling for Busy People membership are made for women, Maki gives a fresh viewpoint from the lens of a man.  Throughout our future episodes, we will be answering questions sent in by our viewers. We are ready to answer anything, so please send us any questions to lisa@counselingforbusypeople.com and we will go over them on the show.
