Jameela Jamil on Harnessing Her Character’s Sexuality In "Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin"

In the new Peacock series "Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin," Jameela Jamil transforms into German pop star Gisela, Bumper’s new rival, and Pieter Kramer’s (Flula Borg) toxic ex. After a scandal with Das Sound Machine – which Gisela technically caused, but got away scot-free from – she’s a solo artist on the rise, and willing to do whatever it takes to destroy her ex and his new protegé.

And if that includes distracting Pieter with sex, so be it. But, despite her ultra-confident character, Jamil said one of the hardest parts of becoming the German popstar was harnessing her sexuality.

Kristin Chenoweth, Rosie Perez and Jasmine Cephas Jones Talk Family Dynamics On and Off Screen

Kristin Chenoweth, Rosie Perez and Jasmine Cephas Jones Talk Family Dynamics On and Off Screen

Every family has their problems – even ones that are meticulously crafted in a writers room. And during this episode of WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” Podcast, actresses Kristin Chenoweth (“Schmigadoon”), Rosie Perez (“The Flight Attendant”) and Jasmine Cephas Jones (“Blindspotting”) discuss how their recent roles shine a light on the everyday challenges of motherhood and marriage through humor, heartfelt dialogue and even a few musical numbers.

Whether it’s Chenoweth playing the uptight, hostile leader of “Mothers Against the Future” in “Schmigadoon!,” Perez trying to reunite with her on-screen son in “The Flight Attendant” or Cephas Jones exposing the effects of incarceration on families, all three characters are fierce mothers – and don’t particularly care if you agree with their parenting styles. During this episode, the women also opened up about their real-life family dynamics growing up and how that impacts the work they’re doing today.

Toni Collette, Molly Shannon and Vanessa Bayer on the Challenges of Playing Characters Based on Real People

On this episode of WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” podcast actresses Toni Collette (“The Staircase”), Molly Shannon (“I Love That for You”) and Vanessa Bayer (“I Love That for You”) discuss how they’ve prepared for their latest roles based on real people – from studying home video tapes to touring QVC headquarters.

First up, we hear from Oscar and Emmy Award-winning actress Toni Collette, who  currently stars in HBO Max’s “The Staircase.” The eight-episode series, which premiered May 5, tells the story of North Carolina-based crime novelist Michael Peterson (Colin Firth), who was convicted of murdering his wife Kathleen, played by Collette.

“UnWrapped” hosts Emily Vogel and Andi Ortiz also speak with “I Love That for You” co-stars Molly Shannon and Vanessa Bayer, who also co-created and co-wrote the show. The Showtime series follows Joanna Gold (Bayer), a survivor of childhood cancer who lands her dream job working at a home shopping channel alongside her hero, longtime host Jackie (Molly Shannon). Though the women aren’t portraying any specific QVC hosts, the series is loosely based on Bayer’s own  experience with childhood cancer and her actual obsession with home shopping TV (and the hosts that sold to her).
