Uptown Church Final Service - Being a Blessing
Week after week, we've been singing and praying the words of the song The Blessing. But where did these words come from, and why have they mattered to us the last three years, and what do they mean for our lives moving forward?
Celebrating Uptown Church - Legacies of Faith
Whether we realize it or not, the legacies of other people's lives continue to impact our lives and faith daily. Each year, Christians across the globe celebrate All Saint's Day to honor those legacies. What can the saints of our past teach us about today and the legacies we will leave behind in the future for others?
Celebrating Uptown Church - Being FOR Community
We know now that God is FOR God's people. God took it a step further, though, demonstrating through Jesus that God is also WITH us. What impact has this truth had on our community to not only be FOR each other but also WITH each other?
Celebrating Uptown Church - Being For People
For the last three years, Uptown Church has been a place that is For people. Yes, all people. But where does that value come from? How do we know God is really for all people? Let's look at a Bible story that demonstrates just what, or who, Jesus is really for.
When In Romans: Part 4
Most of us have dreamed big dreams. At times, we may even feel like God gave us that dream. What do you do, though, when the dream that God allowed you to dream doesn't end the way you thought it would? What might Paul teach us from the book of Romans about disappointment and unmet expectations?
When In Romans: Part 3
The Book of Romans is an incredible letter written about unity in the church, but some of its language can seem harsh, perhaps even downright scary. Can the God of love Paul writes about be the same God whom he describes as having wrath?
When In Romans: Part 2
We live in an ever-changing world with an ever-changing Church. This can lead to differences that threaten to divide us. In the book of Romans, Paul paints a portrait of unity that urges us to see past our differences and look toward what really unites us.
When In Romans: Part 1
Change can be exciting but also challenging. Change is inevitable, whether it's your first weekend at college or that quiet Monday following retirement. Learn what Paul the Apostle Paul has to teach us about our changing lives, church, and world in the Book of Romans.
The Games We Play - Scrabble
As a kid could be difficult. Sometimes, you couldn't make any sense of the letters given to you. Life can be like that too. Luckily, we can trust God to have a plan to make sense of our lives when what we're given doesn't make sense.
The Games We Play - Twister
Remember the games you played as a kid? Favorites like Twister and Sorry? The games we played as kids can sometimes feel like those we still play as adults.
The Game of Life - Taboo
All of us want to win in life. Often, we play games in our relationships with God and others to gain an advantage or take the lead, but ultimately find ourselves losing out. One way we lose big is when we play games with the words we say.
The Key To Winning At Life -- It's Not What You Think
Have you ever felt frustrated in a game because the other players seem to be playing by a different set of rules than you, and you can't win? I have felt this way playing games, but I have also felt like this in my life.
There are moments when we look at others' lives and think they must be doing something different than us because they seem to be succeeding in life, and we aren't sure we are. Moments we find ourselves thinking, could someone please tell me what I must do to win -- to be the best mom, friend, partner, co-worker, etc.?
Listen to Pastor Joy's sermon on The Key To Winning At Life to gain insight into your spiritual journey with Christ. The answer to "winning at life" may not be exactly what you think.
Genesis, Jenga, and Grace
Do you ever feel like no matter what you do to stack everything in your life just right, something’s fallen out of place? Life can sometimes feel like a game of Jenga! Here’s the good news: Your falls and failures don’t throw God off.
Party At My Church
Did you ever hear about the party at Matthew’s house? It was an amazing affair, and Jesus was the guest of honor. We have a party at our church every Sunday, and Jesus is the guest of honor.
A Vibrant Future
The world is obsessed with the future but oftentimes misses out on the present. The Book of James is one of the early Christian church's most practical and challenging writings. Written by Jesus' brother and disciple, James, this letter has inspired Christians for centuries in what it means to live and love like Jesus. God is sad when we create a future that doesn’t include God. Living a vibrant future starts by experiencing the true treasure, God.
At The Movies Week 4: The Little Mermaid
When you were a kid, did you ever wonder what the "grown-up" world was like? What was beyond the familiar? In Uptown's 'At The Movies' series, Pastor Joy explores The Little Mermaid to illustrate biblical truths about discipleship and neighboring. Through popular films, we'll reveal profound truths and explore the story of God in a way that resonates with today's culture. Join us as we engage with the message of God in a whole new way.
At The Movies Week 3: Up
The most extraordinary adventures are typically the ones we never anticipate. Whether to exotic places far away or simply a beloved staycation in the city, adventure can surprise even the most traveled. Grab some popcorn, bring a friend, and listen in as we continue our At The Movies series, looking at one of the only movies to make us cry and exploring how you can best live your one wild life.
At The Movies Week 2: The Force Awakens
Since the words "in a galaxy, far, far away" first crawled onto movie screens, we have told the tale of the Jedi and Force for generations. Because the greatest stories never end, they find new life in every age. The same is true for our faith. Join us this Sunday as we explore how one of the greatest cinematic stories ever told speaks to the great story of our lives.
At the Movies Week 1: Moana
Are you searching for answers to the profound question, "Who am I?"
Join us as we delve into the depths of self-discovery during our 'At the Movies' sermon. Explore the unique and purposeful identity that resides within you, and embark on a journey towards understanding your true worth and potential.
Faith and Favoritism
When you have a big ego but lack compassion, it often becomes evident in how you treat others. This is what we call the sin of snobbery. It occurs when we start making distinctions and evaluating people based on shallow criteria like their wealth, status, race, or age. James challenges us to reconsider this behavior. But here's the twist: his challenge isn't to completely stop favoring certain individuals, but rather to extend kindness to everyone. We have a role model who showed us how to do that, and we have a source of power to help us achieve it: the instruction to "love others as you love yourself."
Insomnia Week 4: The Cure for Restlessness
Is there a cure for our restlessness? With everything happening in our lives, is there a rhythm of rest that produces a deep peace?
Scripture offers us a key insight into our physical, emotional, and spiritual insomnia. Listen to Pastor Joy as she closes out our Insomnia series.
Insomnia Week 3: Restlessness
Have you ever been awakened in the middle of the night by someone else? Join us as we dive into Part 3 of Insomnia and see if any good can come from such restless nights and moments in our lives.
Insomnia Week 2: Rehashing the Past
Whether it's "I can't believe I did that" or "I can't believe they did that to me," the past has a way of causing us to live restless lives. Join us for Part 2 of Insomnia as we explore what we can do to stop rehashing the past and live free of its baggage.
Insomnia Week 1: Rehearsing the Future
What keeps you up at night? When you can't fall asleep, do you worry about something that happened yesterday or anxious about that next big career move in your future? Join us this Sunday as we launch a brand-new sermon series, Insomnia. We'll be looking at what you can do when you find yourself rehashing the past, rehearsing the future, and restless about your life.
Faith Full - Part 4: In Every Season
“Mama said there'd be days like this. There'd be days like this, mama said." It turns out Jesus and moms everywhere know something about life that we are often prone to forget -- life brings its share of hard days along with the good. Join us this Sunday as we wrap up our Faith Full series looking at what our bad days have to teach us about living full lives in a world that runs on empty.

Faith Full - Part Two: Faith Catalysts Our world can be a draining place. It can steal our hope and leave us feeling like we're running on empty. But what if there were things you could do to fuel you
Our world can be a draining place. It can steal our hope and leave us feeling like we're running on empty. But what if there were things you could do to fuel your life and faith? We continue in Part 2 of our Faith Full series diving into one of the keystone habits of faith, or Faith Catalysts that keep us fueled in every season and stage of life.

Easter - He is Risen
Celebrate Easter with Uptown! "The light shines in the darkness and the darkness cannot overcome it."
Walking with Jesus - Palm Sunday
Have you ever walked into a situation expecting one thing and experienced something completely different? Jesus' disciples can relate. One of the last places the disciples walked with Jesus was into the city of Jerusalem. Between the crowds, the cheering, and the proclamation that "the king had come," it was the moment they had been waiting for. However, they could never have anticipated what would happen next. Join us this Palm Sunday as Elizabeth preaches on this important event, and we wrap up our Walking with Jesus series.
Walking with Jesus - Land Not Required!
This week in our 'Walking with Jesus' series we are looking at a story in Scripture that begins with Jesus' disciples stuck on a boat in the middle of a storm and ends in a very unique miracle. Chances are you've heard the ending of this story before, and you might feel a little skeptical. Yes, we struggle with this one too. Join us this week as we explore what Peter learned about walking with Jesus in one of the most iconic Jesus stories of all time.
Walking with Jesus - Luke's Account
Did you know walking with your spouse, friend, or partner can improve the quality of your relationship with them? Studies show that walking with a person, even in silence, increases our connection with them and our empathy for them. The same is true of our relationship with Jesus. For Jesus' first disciples, it was the act of journeying with Jesus that changed their understanding of who He truly was. Let's discover what a man named Luke came to believe about Jesus from walking with him.
Walking With Jesus - The Gospel of John
We've all heard the adage that you don't know someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes. This was true of the disciples who first followed Jesus and is true for us today. Join us this Sunday as we dive into a new series, Walking With Jesus, and explore the interactions the disciples had as they journeyed with Jesus in his ministry and what they came to learn about him along the way. As we retrace their steps, what will we learn about who Jesus is for us today?

Come to the Table
Do you ever wonder what's with the rituals the church has, such as Communion? At the heart of this act of worship, we remember Jesus' life and the very life we are called into through the Church.
Welcome to the Party! - Participation
What's the first question you ask when you get invited to a party? Who's invited? Yes, us too. But after that, what is usually the next thing you want to know? What can I bring or how can I help? This question reveals one value of a party all of us understand, it's better when we all participate. Whether or not, we bring something, assist the host in setting up, or we simply are engaged in conversation with others at the party or hit the dance floor and boogie on down. We know parties are better when we're not simply being entertained, but joining in. Join us this sunday as we wrap up our series, Welcome to the Party as we explore how to create the best party!
Welcome to the Party! - Prodigals and Parties
We share the best things in our lives with others. From sharing the lastest new foodie hot spots to our favorite baby sitter or dry cleaners. We share the things we love with the people we love. Why don't we do the same thing with God? When it comes to our faith, we oftentimes get quiet. How can we use three simple words to change everything?
Welcome to the Party! - Who's Invited?
Over and over in scripture, we find Jesus hosting parties, making appearances at them, or telling stories about them. Why? What was it about Jesus' life and how he chose to live that parties were such a central component? What can we learn from Jesus and his parties that could change our relationships with others and how we live our lives?"
Uptown Church Turns Two!
As we celebrate these last two years as a church, we reflect on all God had done and is doing in our lives. There are so many stories of transformation to share and celebrate. Looking forward, we pray and dream about what God will continue to do in our community and our individual lives.
Relationship Goals - Friendship
Did you know that the Bible talks about friendships more than any other relationship type? Listen in to part 4 of Relationship Goals as we discuss the power of friendship and ways to prioritize forming healthy relationships.
Relationship Goals - Dating
It is so hard to find "the one" when dating, but this task is made even harder by myths surrounding dating and love. Fortunately, God provides a map for what love looks like in 1st Corinthians 13. We learn not only how to identify when someone loves us, but also how we should convey love to others.
Relationship Goals - Family
If you think your family is complicated just take a look the families in the Bible! Family relationships are messy, even Jesus' relationship with his family was difficult at times. But Jesus shows us how to restructure our family in a way that honors God.
Relationship Goals - Made for Relationships
God made us to be in relationship with one another, but sin breaks down our relationships. How do we have healthy relationships in the midst of a sinful world? God's presence with us teaches us how.
Christmas Playlist - Simeon's Song
It's a week after Christmas and all the trappings of the season are beginning to fade as a New Year begins. What we spent so much time and effort preparing for is now over. Or is it? The final song on the very first Christmas Playlist was sung exactly a week after Jesus was born and gives us incredible insight into what comes next as the Christmas story is just beginning.

Is there a song you have heard many times before, but don't actually know what the lyrics are or what they mean? The song the Angels sing at the first Christmas announcing the arrival of the long-awaited Messiah, is one of these songs. For many of us, these lyrics are so familar, "Gloria, in excelsis deo," that we end up missing the meaning of these words. Join us for part 3 of our Christmas Playlist series, as we rediscover the power behind this familiar chorus.
