Christian Flourishing at UW-Madison
In season two of our podcast, students have conversations with Christian faculty, lecturers, and academic staff at the University of Wisconsin-Madison this season. Our podcast is designed and hosted by students for students. We interview key members of the UW-Madison community on how they integrate their faith in the classroom, research, and their lives on campus. In this episode, Jack Joosten, sophomore at UW-Madison, majoring in engineering and an Upper House student intern, interviews Maggie Flamingo, lecturer in history and Ph.D. student in history at UW-Madison. We discuss how to flourish as a Christian at UW-Madison. Maggie has an undergraduate degree in History and Broad Field Social Science from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, a Master of Arts in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is currently completing her Ph.D. in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Are Christian faith and science incompatible?
In this episode Upper House student intern Claire Buckley, junior at UW-Madison, majoring in Human Development and Family Studies and Psych, interviews Dr. Jeff Hardin, chair of the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. They discuss the integration of Christian faith and science, investigate what the Bible says about science, and how to flourish as a Christian at UW-Madison. Dr. Hardin has undergraduate degrees in Zoology and German Michigan State University, Master of Divinity degree at the International School of Theology in Southern California, and a Ph.D. in Biophysics, University of California-Berkeley. The Honor of your Calling: Is graduate school right for you?
In this episode, Upper House intern Aidan Detienne interviews Chandra Crane (B.S. Education, M.A. Ministry) is the Multiethnic Initiatives Mixed Ministry Coordinator with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and a member of the multiethnic Redeemer Church in Jackson, Mississippi. In their conversation they explore the good, bad, and ugly of graduate school. She also discusses a framework and questions to ask yourself before, during and after graduate school. Growing up in a multiethnic/multicultural family in the Southwest and now happily transplanted to the Deep South, Chandra is passionate about diversity and family. She is the author of Mixed Blessing: Embracing the Fullness of Your Multiethnic Identity from InterVarsity Press (2020) and the host of the podcast Mixed Blessing: Breaking Bread at the Multiethnic Table. The world doesn't need more bad painters
In this episode, Upper House intern Ilya Maro interviews Cam Anderson, Associate Director for the Stephen & Laurel Brown Foundation and Upper House. Cam shares insights and wisdom about work and faith from his years as an artist, working in non-profit ministry and campus ministry. Before joining our team, Cam completed a ten-year term as the Executive Director of CIVA | Christians in the Visual Arts. Previous to that, he served for thirty years with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship—including an eight-year term as the National Director of InterVarsity’s Graduate & Faculty Ministries. Cam holds a B.F.A. in Painting and Drawing from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, an M.F.A. in Painting and Drawing from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and has completed post-graduate coursework in Art History and Aesthetics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He and his wife, Cynthia (C.K.), have two adult children and two grandchildren. They have resided in Madison, Wisconsin, since 1986.
