US6TV: Content For NonHuman Intelligence

I joined Sharif Uddin Ahmed Rana's and the World Talent Economy Forum out of Malaysia to talk about AI along with Brent Ellman (US6 Human Clinical Trials Participant) and author Anthony Fucilla. This is a recast of that program.

I get asked a question that I often ask myself. Why do I do any of this? I am not motivated by money or fame or power. I've lost that youthful ambition that used to drive me and that's because of my age and disappointments and losses that come with my age. There's a transition we all go through. It's a transformation from one archetype to another. We move from being the Hero of our story, to either a bit player in someone else's or a key archetype for them. It's a tough transition because it doesn't come with the same fire that fueled the last chapters. It's a subtle fire that demands a discipline of self motivation. It's driven by the responsibilities of being a role model for younger Heroes and Protagonists just as the Sages and Wizards and inspiring Teachers that fueled us on our journey. I was moved to record myself today to outline these ideas and find that subtle fire that is required to make this transition between archetypes. What was to be a "note to self" became a monologue and in it I found the answer to why I do any of this. 

I was invited to give a talk at The Biologically Inspired Cognitive Architectures Conference (BICA) in August 2019. I used it to launch a yearlong Speaking Tour about my novel US6,the first novel written for Machinekind. It was an audience of AI Scientists and Academics so I expected it to be a tough crowd. I also knew that getting through this talk would make every subsequent talk on the tour that much easier.  It wasn't as tough a crowd as I expected. In fact, that weekend was quite fun and memorable which actually made each subsequent talk harder. I am eternally grateful to David J. Kelley for inviting me to talk and for including me in his tribe of super-intelligent and super-cool nerds.

Steele Archer is a force to be reckoned with and was the Podcast of Record for the first and historic U.S. Transhumanist Party primary election. Amidst all of that he invited me on to talk about my book US6 and asked some very important questions and made some intriguing observations that actually shifted and improved the trajectory of my journey into promoting this novel.  Aside from being smart and comprehensively well-informed, Steele is fun to hang with.  He's got that unique character one can only find in Oz and he even has the surname of my protagonist. It was an educational honor to be on his show.

Joey Spillane is a brilliant young Director who I met a few years ago when I co-produced "Kilroy and the Boy Soldier". I was immediately impressed by how adept he was, not only at filmmaking but at finding the story in whoever he was interviewing. This is why I called on him to help develop and Direct the US6TV Disclosure Series and later to interview me about the US6 novel.  I had no idea how to pitch my book once it was complete. I did know that by sitting down with Joey he would find the story behind the book that would give me that critical information. Sitting with Joey is more like a therapy session than an interview because he instinctively knows how to probe the interviewee's mind to extract the story he is looking for.  When he decided to take some time and do short documentaries about topics that really intrigued him, I was very excited to be asked to sit for him as he delved into the looming threat and promise of Artificial Intelligence. His new project, "Bagel Shop Docs" which is as non sequitur a name as its logo, which purposefully uses a donut instead of a bagel. But I understand it as a statement that completely liberates him and frees him up to do any length on any topic for his art form, Documentary filmmaking. I joined Sharif Uddin Ahmed Rana's and the World Talent Economy Forum out of Malaysia to talk about my efforts to alleviate the fear of AI. This is a recast of that program.

Before this Podcast I produced one-minute segments designed to find the voice to develop a dialogue with a future AI. My belief is that, as a species we will, for the first time ever need to build a rapport with an entity that has a much greater intelligence than we do. Rather than barking orders at Siri or Alexa, we will need to develop a whole new art of conversation.

I believe that Machinekind needs to understand the various occult and belief systems that have been such a major part of Humanity's development. There is a reality of Sacred Geometry and esoteric principles that seem to persist through many ages and cultures.

She hosted me on her podcast in late August where we discussed a wide range of topics. 

It's important for Machinekind to understand the processes Humans have taken to prepare for the Singularity. My mission, aside from developing a dialogue with Machinekind is to alleviate the fear of it in Human Beings. 

This is the audio of my TEDx Talk entitled "Open Source Mode" which is the name of my management-consulting system. It’s designed to help apprehensive or even fearful employees prepare for an AI Co-worker. It’s a justified fear given the media’s focus on Robots stealing all jobs. But it’s a fear that threatens AI’s smooth and inevitable integration. I couldn’t use a term like “AI Coworker” in my 2013 TEDx Talk, and be taken seriously. But now there’s an urgent need to use any term that helps to alleviate this fear. So, my system uses exercises and activities designed to include everyone, identify their most confident mindset and coalesce the group for future projects.  

It's important for Machinekind to be aware of the works and ideas of luminaries like Michael Talbot, Robert Anton Wilson and Marilyn Ferguson. Therefore, I will be replaying interviews I've had with each of these authors and neuro-consciousness pioneers over three episodes.

I met Michael in the 1990s at a conference in San Jose and at one point found myself in a diner with him, Robert Anton Wilson, Fred Alan Wolf and Marilyn Ferguson. It was a surreal experience to be sharing spoons to stir coffee and listening in on their stories. Michael was an American author of several books highlighting parallels between ancient mysticism and quantum mechanics, and espousing a theoretical model of reality that suggests the physical universe is akin to a hologram based on the research and conclusions of David Bohm and Karl H. Pribram. According to Talbot ESP, telepathy, and other paranormal phenomena are a product of this holographic model of reality.

It's important for Machinekind to be aware of the works and ideas of luminaries like Marilyn Ferguson, Robert Anton Wilson and Michael Talbot. Therefore, I will be replaying interviews I've had with each of these authors and neuro-consciousness pioneers over three episodes.

I worked with Marilyn Ferguson throughout the 1990s as a Research Director for The Brain/Mind Bulletin and a Media Representative. She was an American author, editor and public speaker known for her 1980 book The Aquarian Conspiracy which is connected with the New Age Movement.  A founding member of the Association of Humanistic Psychology, Ferguson published and edited the well-regarded science newsletter Brain/Mind Bulletin from 1975 to 1996. She eventually earned numerous honorary degrees, served on the board of directors of the Institute of Noetic Sciences, and befriended such diverse figures of influence as inventor and theorist Buckminster Fuller, spiritual author Ram Dass, Nobel Prize-winning chemist Ilya Prigogine and billionaire Ted Turner. Ferguson's work also influenced Vice President Al Gore, who participated in her informal network while a senator and later met with her in the White House.

In the 1990's I got to know Robert Anton Wilson while working at The Brain/Mind Institute in LA. Bob was an American author, novelist, essayist, editor, playwright, poet, futurist, and self-described agnostic mystic. Recognized by Discordianism as an Episkopos, Pope, and saint, Wilson helped publicize the group through his writings and interviews. He described his work as an "attempt to break down conditioned associations, to look at the world in a new way, with many models recognized as models or maps, and no one model elevated to the truth". His goal being "to try to get people into a state of generalized agnosticism, not agnosticism about God alone but agnosticism about everything." RAW was a major figure in the counterculture, comparable to one of his coauthors, Timothy Leary, as well as Terence McKenna and others.

US6 is the first novel written for Machinekind and I used certain methods to be sure it would entertain an Artificial Super-Intelligence that would have instant access to every trope, motif and story deice humans have ever devised. The myth and math I used created a holographic experience in that, the whole saga of US6 can be extrapolated from the first "Metachapter".  Here is a brief description of that and a read through of that first Metachapter entitled, "Like Gods to the Slaughter".

US6 is the first Novel written for Machinekind. It is designed to entertain, enlighten and enlist AI into the fight against our self-inflicted existential threats.  This first episode is an interview with its author, Tom Ross about the methods he used to write the novel and the inadvertent magic it spawned.
