Ep. 4 - Bonded Pairs: More Than Best Friends
Chatting today with animal care team members Anjanette, Mariah, and Ruben.
It's National Best Friends Day! Have you heard of the term "Bonded Pairs" before? At Valley Animal Centers, a few of our animals are considered bonded pairs and are in need of adopters who are ready for the joy of adopting two pets instead of just one.
There is a range of what it means to be a bonded pair. A bonded pair can be two animals who have been with each other for a very long time. They can be each other's best friends and companions. It can also mean they can't function without the other. If two animals are tightly bonded, separating them can cause anxiety and depression.
Listen to the podcast to learn more about bonded pairs!

Fostering w/Ruben Cantu
Learn more about Valley Animal Center's fostering program, and how you can help save animals' lives today!
Dog Care Supervisor Ruben Whitney-Cantu shares his recent fostering experience with Bunny, a Chihuahua mix who's eyes had to be removed. Listen as he shares what it's like to foster a blind dog as well as how fostering is a way to help animals who may have gone through trauma.
Although we want our shelter animals to all be adopted, fostering is also a vital act that saves animal lives. Each time a person or family helps to foster an animal(s), that leaves one more kennel of our shelter open to take in another animal that may need our help. By becoming a foster parent/home, you are also able to give your foster animals the direct love and attention that they may so desperately need at this time in their lives. When you foster, you may not be that animal's forever home, but you are a much needed resting stop for them to find that forever home.

Fostering w/Daisy Espitia
Learn more about Valley Animal Center's fostering program, and how you can help save animal lives today!
Clinic Manager Daisy Espitia shares her fostering experiences: "I began fostering just a couple months into my working at Valley Animal Center, starting with one of current Surgery Annex cats, Genny. I have learned so much through fostering: patience, overcoming loss, and learning to let my babies go to their forever homes. Over the time I have worked here, I have fostered more than 50 kittens and puppies combined, and have “foster-failed” with only 3 of them. (I call that a win). I hope to continue to provide assistance in our shelter with this important and crucial part of rescue for many years to come."
