CED Gujarat, Webinar on Waterpreneurshipp

CED Gujarat, Webinar on Waterpreneurshipp

Water is the nectar of the phenomena called life, given to us as a blessing from Mother Nature.

When all the spaces missions from earth go in search of extra-terrestrial life or even possibility of life, on a natural satellite or a planet or an exoplanet, what they search for is Water. Because where there is Water, life would be possible in some form or the other. From tiniest of single-celled microbes to giant dinosaurs, nothing can survive in absence of Water.

Thus, if we plan a career in Water domain, an enterprise in Water domain – it would be recession proof.

In this session, Mr. Madhukar Swayambhu, A Water Hero Awardee, A TEDx speaker, Recognized as Global Top 3 Author on Water by Smart Water Magazine (Spain), will explain about the horizons of “Waterpreneurship”.

Episode -4, NbS for Rejuvenation of Waterbodies & Wetlands

Nature-based solution (NbS) for 'Rejuvenation of Wetlands and Water Bodies' was held on May 18, 2023 (Thursday), hosted by World Bank office in New Delhi.

Chaired by Maninder S. Gill, Global Director and Chief Environment and Social Standards, The World Bank

Opening Remarks by Christophe Crepin, Practice Manager, ENB, SAR, The World Bank Presented by Ashish Singh & Madhukar Swayambhu

Discussants were Josefo Tuyor, Lead Environment Specialist, South Asia Region, The World Bank and Dr. I U B Reddy, Lead Social Development Specialist, South Asia Region, The World Bank

And the session was moderated by Neha Vyas, Senior Environment Specialist, South Asia Region, The World Bank

The latest United Nations World Water Development Report, released just ahead of World Water Day on March 22, warns that, by 2030, at the current rate of use, 40 percent of the population across the world will not have access to the water it needs.

For South Asia, a water crisis looms for more than 270 million people as glaciers shrink and ground water reserves recede at an alarming rate. Amongst the available water sources in the region. It is estimated that between 68 to 84 percent of water bodies are polluted. South Asia is one of the world's water stressed hotspots and as a region with growing development ambition requires increasing action in climate adaptation that embeds local, national, and regional water management solutions that are economically, environmentally and socially sound.

The webinar focused upon the technique and results of using a Nature based Solution (NbS) developed in India. for "resurrection and rejuvenation of the waterbodies". This sustainable, holistic and scientific approach of "consume and digest" the nutrient overload enables restoration of all the ecosystem services that a water body is meant to offer.

A low-cost technique is an optimal solution to deal with water stress / mismanagement issues and offers several benefits for projects in the Water, Urban, Aquaculture, Agriculture, Disaster Management, Tourism, and Environment Remediation sectors.

The presentation showcased results from projects undertaken in India and the deliberated upon exploring how the nature's self-healing mechanism and traditional knowledge systems could be harnessed for creating a triple bottom line (economic, environment, and social).

This podcast is the excerpts of the same webinar, but as it was a long session being attended by members of the World Bank from across the globe, multiple countries, multi time zones and continents, the entire session is divided into four episodes.

ASSOCHAM DECARBONIZATION SUMMIT

ASSOCHAM DECARBONIZATION SUMMIT

ASSOCHAM, the premier industrial chamber with 4.5 lac members, has been serving the nation since 1920. ASSOCHAM's aim is to empower Indian businesses by instilling knowledge that will serve as a catalyst for growth in the barrier-free, technology-driven global market, assisting them to upscale, align, and emerge as strong players in their respective business areas. ASSOCHAM has been working with industry members on several projects, being committed to enhancing the business ecosystem in order to establish a stronger nation.

Decarbonizing the industrial sector, which currently accounts for 30% of all domestic GHG emissions, is a critical component to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Delivering a sustainable energy system for the future will require collaboration and action from across the energy, business, and government ecosystems. Therefore, there is an urgent need for an immediate industrial decarbonization including advancement in GHG reduction by transitioning to low carbon or zero carbon energy system.

With this fact as the key context, The Associated Chamber of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) in collaboration with State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), Government of Odisha held a stirring gathering in Bhubaneswar on September 30th 2022, 0930 hrs, at Hotel Hindustan International (HHI), to commemorate "The Industrial Decarbonization Summit 2022 – A Roadmap to Net Zero 2030”.

All eminent personalities from across the nation from academia, administration, policy makers, industry associates, environmentalists, journalists, inventors, innovators and startups were invited in the forum for spreading a vision of a low carbon future throughout the country in order to spur action, inspire change, and amp up a range of key perspectives in the race to reach net-zero emissions.

The Summit consciously focused upon and addressed a wide range of research topics, including, but not limited to, decarbonization, managing climate change, policy issues, and sustainability. Due to the urgent need for academics, researchers, regulatory bodies, policymakers, industry, business, concerned government departments, and the general public to exchange knowledge and expertise regarding the climate in order to learn from one another and find cutting-edge technologies/best practices.

Technology Evaluation Session with a Government Owned Scientific Agency

Technology Evaluation Session with a Government Owned Scientific Agency

As a technology developed from scratch, we need to undergo extensive evaluation and scrutiny across the forums, Government offices, Scientific forums, academic symposiums and so on. The usual process is to give them a presentation, submit the whitepapers and case studies, all scientific data and then do a project (pilot) with them, in which they will record their own data, do their own analysis and finally give a report of their evaluation and satisfaction coupled with approval or disapproval.
This is one such forum, in which we had given the introductory presentation for evaluation.

In conversation with CSR & CER wing of Corporate

In conversation with CSR & CER wing of Corporate

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is social face of any corporate, which is now being implemented as a mandate from Government of India, pushing the corporates to put in 2% of their annual profitability back in to social ventures for the betterment and sustainable development of the under-developed or under-privileged strata of the society around the corporates. Through CSR programs, philanthropy, and volunteer efforts, businesses can benefit society while boosting their brands.

Companies that adopt CSR programs have often grown their business to the point where they can give back to society, e.g., the government mandate starts for the organizations reporting an annual profit upwards of ₹ 100 Crores. Thus, CSR or CER (Corporate Environmental Responsibility) is typically a strategy that's implemented by large corporations for the good of Society or Environment respectively. After all, the more visible and successful a corporation is, the more responsibility it has to set standards of ethical behavior for its peers, competition, and industry.

NATIONAL FARMER'S DAY WITH ART OF LIVING

NATIONAL FARMER'S DAY WITH ART OF LIVING

Permaculture is the art of permanent agriculture, AND “Art of Living” is a way of Life!

Anything in excess is not good, not even farming. It has been observed that prolonged farming does more bad to the soil than good.

Here’s how.

Of the five factors needed for farming – air, water, soil, sunlight and nutrients in the soil – a farmer is heavily dependent on soil nutrients and availability of water for a good produce.

However, over a period of time, excess tilling of the soil, overuse of chemicals and irrigation without adequate drainage causes irreparable damage to the soil.

Now, if the lost nutrients are not replenished, then the soil becomes unusable, producing poor yields. Thus the world started looking at sustainable farming as a solution that can prevent the loss of soil nutrients and conserve water too.

In a layman’s term, sustainable agriculture is an ecosystem approach to farming.

This National Farmer’s Day, on 23rd December, 2021, the Permaculture Division of Art of Living Bangalore, organized a special session on Sustainable Agriculture, - Ponds, Plants and Planet – a talk on Ecological Integral Farming through the Cownomics™ Methodology from Vaidic Srijan LLP.

Vaidic Approach to Wetland Restoration

Vaidic Approach to Wetland Restoration

Wetlands are amongst the most productive ecosystems on the earth. However, they are also ecologically sensitive and adaptive systems. Wetlands exhibit enormous diversity according to the genesis, geographical location, water regime and chemistry, and soil and sediment characteristics. Wetlands sustain all life forms and perform useful functions in the maintenance of ecological balance and the interface between land and water systems.

Patna (Bihar), being highly populous and one of the fastest-growing cities in India has been transforming  persistently in  the  last  couple  of  decades  due  to  urbanization.  Interestingly, wetlands have been observed to have shrunk significantly. The area of water bodies comprising ponds, lakes, and canals have almost halved from 1.26 km2 to 0.611 km2 between 1989 to 2014. In recent years, the Government of India and Bihar have taken note of the degradation of wetlands in various parts of the country. In this regard, about 15 wetlands in India, including Kabartal Lake in Begusarai have been recognized as wetlands of international importance by Ramsar Convention in recent years. Additionally, the Bihar State Wetland Authority has been established in 2019.

The  steps  taken  by  the  Government in  recent  years  show  their  seriousness  towards  the importance of wetlands and their conservation. In the recent virtual seminar on ‘Vulnerabilities of wetlands and its impact on climate change’, the Principal Secretary, Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of Bihar, emphasized the future need for developing an action plan for wetlands conservation and restoration in Bihar’s context. In September 2019, the Government of India announced a comprehensive scheme of the National Plan for Conservation of Aquatic Ecosystems (NPCA), which is aimed to conserve and restore 130 identified wetlands and lakes at the 14th Conference of Parties (COP14) to United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). The conservation and restoration of wetlands is important not only to ensure the availability of water but also to check the scale of degrading surrounding lands.

The wetlands restoration work in Delhi has set the standards for providing sustainable and suitable habitation for birds and also helped in protecting Delhi from flooding and improving the groundwater quality. Similarly, in the case of Hyderabad, Kudi Kunta Lake, covering 8 acres, was about to die when it was rejuvenated by the Vedic method of restoration. Likewise, in the year 2020, Jheelwala Park in New Delhi was also rejuvenated with a similar approach. Although it is a very new concept of wetlands restoration there are significant progress and successful case studies in India. To discuss and understand this concept further, the Centre for Environment, Energy, and Climate Change, at the Asian Development Research Institute (CEECC, ADRI) is organizing a ‘Special Lecture’ session virtually.

The objectives of this lecture are as follows:

Understanding the alternative methods of wetlands restoration with special reference to wetlands in Bihar.

Introducing a low-budget and sustainable approach to wetlands conservation for Bihar.

Participants included

Key  officials  from  Wetland Authority  and  Department  of  Environment, Forest  and Climate Change, Government of Bihar, researchers, and grassroots practitioners to understand the alternative method of wetlands restoration with special reference to wetlands in Bihar.

In Conversation with professionals in agroforestry, afforestation & reforestation

In Conversation with professionals in agroforestry, afforestation & reforestation

Halting deforestation is a global challenge largely due to unsustainable agricultural practices that degrade natural ecosystems.

Since the beginning of the 20th century, the world’s forests lost about 20% of their coverage. Ninety percent of deforestation is the result of agriculture, with 60% due to the extension of agro-industrial intensive farming (soya, palm oil, corn…), and the remaining 30% caused by small-scale and subsistence farmers. Close to 20% of all carbon emissions result from deforestation and forest degradation.

Climate change will increasingly affect agricultural conditions and there is an urgent need to make farming practices evolve to adapt to climate change. In 2007, experts at the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) stated that agro-ecology was the most reliable way to guarantee food security in our future.

Here’s a discussion with some corporate professionals in agroforestry, afforestation & reforestation, based out of Bangalore, India on – how they are doing it “organically” and how can they benefit out of the “New Ecological way of farming” through “Resurrecting the Native Ecology in Soil, Water and Air”? and how can the farmland go diseases, pests and weather resilient?

In Conversation with Water Mother - Smt. Amla Ruia ji

In Conversation with Water Mother - Smt. Amla Ruia ji

Amla Ruia also known as ‘water mother’ has transformed over 100 villages of Rajasthan by using traditional water harvesting techniques and building check dams. Notably, due to great effort and initiatives led by her changed the face of over 100 villages and brought the prosperity in farming, economy and lifestyle of villagers.

Interestingly, Amla dedicated her life to the farmers from the year 1999~2000 after seeing the poor life of farmers in Rajasthan which was going through a severe drought. Amla started her work by constructing check dams near the villages. Check dams, also known as khadin, are structures that involve comparatively small masonry constructions and extensive earthen bunds.

This episode is a detailed conversation with the Water Mother and her team, on "Resureection of Native Ecology" through Vaidic Science.

World Ozone Day Webindar by ADRI on 16th September, 2021

World Ozone Day Webindar by ADRI on 16th September, 2021

The urban regions act as population nuclei providing goods and services not only for its inhabitants, but also for people worldwide. Urban ecosystems can no longer be considered as a separate entity to the environment as they have direct and indirect impacts on the immediate and wider environments. Many of the environmental problems faced today (like global warming, water and air pollution and inadequate access to safe drinking water) can be traced back to cities and infrastructure choices. Therefore, cities are a central hub of the human and nature relationships and are huge centers of demand for ecosystem services as well as generation sites for large environmental impacts. Impact of ‘Ozone’ on living species on earth can be good or bad, depending on where it is found. Researchers have found that, ozone in the ‘Stratosphere’ are good as it occurs naturally in the upper layer of the atmosphere and form a protective layer, act as shield to protect earth surface from high-frequency UV rays. While, ozone found in the ‘Troposphere’ is harmful as it contributes to the overall air pollution on earth, a combination of gas formed due to chemical reactions between oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOC). Hence, the overwhelming scientific consensus is that global climate change owing to ozone depletion is a real and immediate threat that requires action.

Madhukar Swayambhu is a TEDx speaker, awarded by Jal Shakti Mantralaya as Water Hero, Recognized as Global Top 3 Author on Water by Smart Water Magazine (Spain), having many published articles in various Water & Environment magazines and giving so many lectures in national & international level institutes including IIPA, NIFTEM, FSM, NEERI etc., rejuvenating billions of litres of water spread over hundreds of acres of Waterbodies and millions of litres of sewage on a daily basis.

His innovation & invention is based upon Vaidic Science, and their corporate entity is called “Vaidic Srijan LLP”. In today’s lecture, we’ll get to know from Mr. Swayambhu about the “Vaidic Approach towards Resurrection of Native Ecology”.

Their wetlands restoration work in Delhi (the ongoing Smriti Van Lake, Vasant Kunj, Prasadnagar Lake, KarolBagh and Jheelwala Park, Rohini) has set the standards for providing sustainable and suitable habitation for birds and also helped in protecting Delhi from flooding and improving the groundwater quality. Similarly, in the case of Hyderabad’s Kudi Kunta Lake, covering 8 acres, was about to die when it was rejuvenated by their Vaidic method of restoration. Likewise, in the year 2020, Mandakini River in Chitrakoot was also rejuvenated with a similar approach which made prime time news on ABP channel, they even created the News Headline recently in Dainik Jaagran on 7th July, 2021 by rejuvenating a sewage drain in Punjab. Although it is a very new concept of wetlands restoration there are significant progress and successful case studies in India.

National Bio Technology Forum discussions on the Cownomics Technology for in-situ treatment for Drains Rejuvenation

Ecologically speaking, Any natural structure or depression or cavity on the surface, wherein Earth is in bottom, Water on top of it and open to Air (atmosphere) is called a Waterbody. Ecology doesn’t differentiate between river, pond, lake, rivulet, drain, canal, or reservoir, as long as the above definition is met, provided human being don’t interfere with bottom lamination or top cover.

On this planet, there are only three habitats –

•Soil,

•Water, and

•Air

And all three come in contact in the same order in a natural Waterbody. Thus A Waterbody is natural biggest pool of habitat for microorganisms, whose metabolic activities help in regeneration of natural resources on this planet.

•Ecology is not just restricted to terrestrial, the cycle gets completed with all the five key elements of life on the planet

•Our shortsightedness was limited to terrestrial life only therefore we couldn’t visualize the role of Water & Air

•All are linked and all are mandatory phases of the cycle

all this and more in this episode.

In-situ treatment of drains for revenue generation

In-situ treatment of drains for revenue generation

There’s a huge difference between Resuscitation of Native Ecology (the Cownomics© Approach) and the cleaning or treatment of Water that is usually done in the market. While Water treatment or cleaning of Water is an expense, Resuscitation of Native Ecology is a huge revenue. Let’s understand in details through this article.

Carbon Sequestration, Natural Ecology and Green Economy – Way To Sustainability

Normally when people talk about water body rejuvenation these are some aspects that people don't even touch because, all the waterbody Rejuvenation technologies are basically working towards physical cleaning of the water. You can rather call them as a water treatment Technology then an ecological rejuvenation because, whenever you rejuvenate the natural ecology of the wetland, it is natural that the carbon sequestration will happen.

Agricultural Boost - A Cownomics Ripple Effect (Hindi)

“Nature doesn’t make farms, nature produces only jungles. But this doesn’t mean that farming has to be against nature. A farming in complete harmony with nature is the concept of Ecological Farming.”

Ecological Farming is the process of farming done by reviving natural ecology of the water and soil, by making them alive ecologically. We don’t need to teach Nature or interfere with, in the domain of plants and animal rearing. Nature knows it very well and grows them better in absence of our interference. Thus in Ecological Farming, the focus is on reviving the water and soil to life and rest everything is done by Nature on its own.

The Cownomics© Technology

Cownomics – as the name suggests is the technology linking the Cows with Economy, which was the Vedic way of Environmental Reinstatement through restoring Water, Soil & Air Ecology. In Vedic Science these three are called the key elements of life and therefore keep them ALIVE was the primary source for exuberating life and enthralling economy.

Zero Liquid Discharge (Hindi)

Various Domains of Cownomics

Various Domains of Cownomics

Cownomics© Technology was primarily developed for ecological resuscitation of Soil, Water and Air Ecology, without any use of mechanics, physics, chemistry, biology or micro-biology. It harnesses the free energy from nature and channelizes the same for rejuvenation of life cycles of Ecology.

But, because all the human economic activities are linked to ecology, environment and nature, there are many ripples created due to resuscitation of ecology, which in turn creates many domains of this technology.

Explore the comprehensives domains of business with Cownomics in this podcast episode.

Zero Liquid Discharge - the law of Nature!

Zero Liquid Discharge - the law of Nature!

Presently in the name of ZLD, what all industrial units or plants do is only increase the wastage thus putting in the WWTP discharge into unnecessary usage like sprinkling the WWTP outlet Water on roads, mining over burden (OB) or road side trees, horticultural usage or landscaping and so on.

But wasting Water in such activities is not ZLD by any standards.

The real purpose is to make it fit for reuse in the plant.

Be it the wasteWater from smelter or ore beneficiation process, tailing dam, cooling tower or even RO reject.

why it isn't happening is only because, None of the existing prevalent technologies like E T P or S T P are capable of dealing with such huge variety of contaminants or neutralizing them to zero level, making water fit for reuse. There’s no single formula fitting all the scenarios.

This episode explains how is it done and how does Cownomics Technology comes to the rescue.

Creating Blue Carbon Sinks & Reversing Climate Change

Creating Blue Carbon Sinks & Reversing Climate Change

We all know about the climate change and global Warming.

This is primarily due to excess of Green House Gas emissions due to human economic activities, especially without thinking about the outcome.

Waterbodies are the saviors. If the natural Aqua-ecology is reinstated, all natural Waterbodies can be transformed into Blue Carbon Sink.

Cownomics Technology, does exactly the same.

Understand more about it in this podcast.

Understanding Carbon Sequestration & Green Economy (Hindi)

Understanding Carbon Sequestration & Green Economy (Hindi)

Normally a polluted waterbody is contributing to GHG emission like any other pollution sources be it industries, or vehicular pollution, or mining industry or cement production plants. The normal course for a polluted Waterbody, is absorption of oxygen from air for trying to maintain the dissolved oxygen level and emission of carbon dioxide, monoxide or methane. But this is only when the aqua-ecology is disturbed badly due to anthropogenic activities like addition of sewage & industrial effluent.

Under natural conditions, Nature has designed the Waterbodies to do exactly opposite of that, performing photosynthesis, absorbing GHG & Pm from Air and releasing Oxygen in Air.

When the Waterbody is rejuvenated ecologically through cownomics technology, the natural aqua-ecology is resuscitated and the aqua-photosynthesis is back in action. This transforms the Waterbody into a blue carbon sink, in which tonnes of atmospheric GHG gets absorbed and fixed in the wetland ecology.
