110: What being too afraid of the rules can do to us
“Everything else was good, but because of that one thing, I have to fail you, sorry”, she says (in a sorry-not-sorry tone of voice). I apologise, or thank her, as she gets out of my car. At least, I'd like to believe I did, but I’m totally blanking on that detail.
What I do clearly remember is, as I gape at her walking away, my brain's going, “umm, what the eff just happened?”
For five years I’d driven through Bangalore on my own. I could even navigate the by lanes of Shivajinagar like a pro. But my first driving test in the US? I’d flunked! 🤦🏻♀️ I’d actually freakin' flunked.

106: Why and How to "Murder your Darlings"
Whether it's in content creation or in other facets of life, it's super important to cut out all the unnecessary stuff. Even if said stuff is perfectly good on its own. "Kill your Darlings" aka "Murder your Darlings" is a phrase used in the world of writing. It means that authors should ruthlessly edit out anything that interferes with the crisp, smooth pace, and flow of their article, story, blog post, etc. In my usual style, I couldn't resist using this as an analogy for cutting out dead weight – things, practices, habits, relationships – from our lives, businesses, and creative endeavours.

Travel in itself gives fresh perespectives, but solo travel adds a deeper layer of learning and contemplation. My hybrid solo trip last month to Dharamkot, (near Dharamshala) Himachal Pradesh was full of adventures and interesting experiences. It was a mix of exploring on my own, as well as hanging out with a dear friend, Ekta. We got to spend time at various interesting places, talking to many lovely people.

104: Two paths to let go of the Ego: Knowledge vs Devotion
"The path of Gyaan (knowledge) crushes the Ego, the path of Bhakti (devotion) melts the Ego." When my teacher said this, it blew my mind! I suddenly began to understand the way me and people in my world work and deal with things. Not just in the spiritual sense, but in all facets of life – home, work, business, creativity – those of us who surrender ourselves to the process and go with the flow have a vastly different experience than the ones who want a deeper understanding and look at things through the lens of precision and perfection. I've connected this thought process to an art workshop I attended a couple of weeks ago in this episode.
